No Problems
Posted by Riskbetty on 02/01/2012
LARGO, FLORIDA -- We dealt with Legendary Journeys in Largo, Fl. and had no problems at all.

We made a deposit and continued to pay until we have completely paid for the trip. They made all arrangements, we left from Tampa International Airport, flew into Munich, 3 or 4 people had lost luggage. We were met by a tour director who gathered everyone together, we rode on a beautiful bus to Seefeld, the hotel was quaint and very nice. Legendary Journeys worked with the airline to get the luggage for those people and saw that it was delivered to the hotel in Seefeld by the next day. The hotel staff was great, we did not have a great selection on the food but it was just fine. I had already figured from the great price we had that there would be some compensations, but a full European breakfast with several juices, etc and dinner with 2 selections for the main course again was fine with me..each night the salad bar was full. Our rooms were clean, lobby clean, etc.

We really liked Julia our tour guide, she had a quirky sense of humor and was quite knowledgeable..No problems on our trip.

It's nice to see these folks seem to be doing better than their previous reviews indicated.

Bait and Switch
Posted by Vbgator2525 on 10/25/2011
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- We are scheduled to leave on a trip to Rome this weekend. We received our travel vouchers several days ago to find out that they did not book us on our requested excursion for the 1st of November that they advertised but changed it to the 2nd without even contacting us. We paid for this 2 1/2 months ago and never heard from anyone regarding the change. When I contacted Marco the person we booked with to say we did not want to do an excursion on the 2nd of November and wanted our money refunded he sent the request to corporate and they have refused to refund our money. We paid for a full day of touring in Rome and this has been changed to a tour plus transportation to Tuscany. We had plans for Tuscany on the 2nd of November. They would not accept credit cards for this and have refused to refund our money. I will be contacting our attorney regarding this but want other people to know how you are treated when you book with Legendary Journeys. This is our first and last experience with them.

You may want to review your contract. this is a very common practice you agreed to.

Legendary Journey Performance
Posted by ChasBo on 01/27/2010
I, too, read the bad reviews for Legendary Journey just as Dan did. I just got through booking a cruise with an add on tour. Naturally I was upset that I hadn't done my homework before booking. However, in looking at the complaints, they seem to go back to 2007 and earlier. Maybe they've cleaned up their act. I do feel that they are difficult to communicate with based on questions asked and answers given.

I always book tours/shore excursions through the cruise line. Please come back and let us all know how it turns out.

They left 4 seniors waiting in Amsterdam Airport for 8 hours before a bus came to pick us up to take us to the River Cruise. And someone had to call them from the airport to send us the bus!

Bait And Switch
Posted by Carball on 03/17/2008
STUART, FLORIDA -- My husband and I booked a trip in July 2007 with Legendary Journey/Royal Caribbean for March 30, 2008. The cruise was to include Ireland, Azores, Paris, London, Amsterdam and the Tulips in Amsterdam plus hotel for two nights in Amsterdam.

Trip was paid, side trips were booked. Oops, everything was changed and not even Legendary Journey knew about it until I called to tell them. In mid-January, Royal Caribbean "dropped" Ireland, and changed Cornwall to Dover. No replacement was made and now we are spending 9 days on the water which is 75% of the trip. Ugh! This is not the trip I purchased but, it was too late to get a refund. I wrote to the Attorney General Office in Florida at that time and have not gotten a response. I called, e-mailed Royal Caribbean and have gotten "0" except that they have the right to change the itenerary. I feel that this is a "Bait and Switch" since no replacement was made for the dropped Ireland except for more water time. Legendary Journey has looked the other way and refused to fight for any compensation.

Today, was the last straw (13 days before departure), the hotel that is booked for Amsterdam is 66 miles from Amsterdam in the middle of nowhere. I asked where the upgraded hotels would be and never got a response from Legendary Journey. Legendary Journey also booked us the late dinner when I asked for early and booked our return into Orlando instead of Miami. This is the last time I will book with Legendary Journey and the last time I will sail with Royal Caribbean. This trip was expensive and has turned out to be a very expensive disaster.

I thought the reason to book with a travel agency was that they took good care of their clients since it was important to have repeat business and a good reputation. I guess they don't care!

I've been on 4 cruises...all booked through Island Travel in Hilton Head SC...all on Carnival...every cruise has been a success...upgraded rooms, extra gratuities, all to my specification! I would try another cruise line and travel agency! Sorry for your troubles. I hope you have fun anyway!

You may wish to go onto a website called cruisecritic.com and ask for some advice for your situation.

That site has helped me a lot when planing a curise and handling proplems.

Good luck and have a safe trip!

As soon as you get on the boat, go straight to the dining room. The Head Waiter will be there with his table map and you can switch your dining seating time with him then. the other issues aren't quite as simple. You'll need to keep on Legendary Journeys to at least get responses. They have a few complaints here.

Non refundable deposit
Posted by Sunshine92 on 02/20/2008
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- After reading some of the reviews on your site, we are concerned about a deposit we have made for a similar trip in September to Western Europe. We were told our $2000 deposit was non refundable and they recommended insurance for $443 which we also paid for. The insurance does not cover return of our deposit. I can't believe it is impossible this far ahead not to be able to get our $2,000 Back! Do I have any recourse?

Dang, whats the point of paying nearly $500 for insurance if you are going to lose $2000 no matter what? We just booked a short Mexican cruise and didnt opt for the insurance ($150) (we are going in April so not planning on backing out) but when they tried to sell it to me it was made clear that I would get every penny of what I paid back, although my cruise was only $700 and i didnt leave a deposit, just paid upfront. That sounds a little shady though, I know there are such things as non refundable deposits but usually not in such a huge amount!
Posted by Hugh_Jorgen on 2008-02-20:
I think the insurance only covers you if the trip is cancelled or if you are unable to take the journey for a covered reason. I don't think it covers your losses if you just change your mind and decide not to go.

Nonrefundable deposits are nonrefundable (confusing, I know). Insurance often covers the entire cost of a trip including deposit if you have to cancel for a covered reason (normally illness, death in the family, house burns down, etc...). What it does not cover is return of something nonrefundable just because you do not want to go. You should have read the rules of the tour and the insurance before purchase.

Very disappointed in 5 day trip to New Orleans, LA for Mardi Gras.
Posted by Dstew7226 on 03/10/2014
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- The hotels chosen were described as "first class". The rooms were dark and noisy and had serious plumbing issues. The included breakfasts were only available if you were in the breakfast room before 7am (a fact not mentioned to those of us on the tour) The guide failed to mention many of the pertinent fact to insure a pleasant experience, for example she never mentioned to the bus of 50 people that we should check the board in the hotel lobby for updates to times and places for our group to meet. Our tour bus could not park on the streets of the French Quarter so we had to have our luggage unloaded on Canal Street and each passenger had to drag our luggage a half a block down the street to the hotel.

The meals that were include during our bus rides to and from New Orleans were at places that were ill-equipped to handle an influx of so many people and the food was definitely NOT first class. I would never go on a tour with Legendary Journeys again.

Trip Was a disaster....to Finish
Posted by Terceira67 on 01/14/2014
THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA -- Trip advertised a bus trip to Orlando to see two hotel Christmas decorations, a surprise hotel and a lunch. Cost $45. Trip Started 45 min. Late..bus problem. Since the planned lunch was supposedly scheduled for 3 p.m. we decided to eat at first hotel on our own since it was noon. Second hotel No preparations had been made for us at the Grand Floridian (biggest hotel). Consequently we sat in parking lot instead of touring. We were then taken to Disney village and were given a very short time there. Next we were taken to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch at 3. Once again we spent time sitting in the parking lot as no arrangements were made for us. After several calls to the main office we were finally able to have a $ 7. lunch. We were then taken to a third hotel, sat in parking lot while
They asked if we could come. 30 min..there. Again no pre-planning. We then returned home. After requesting a refund to company and Seniors against crime we were given a voucher to use on another trip. Not a refund. AAA gave a refund for their same trip.
Bottom line...I will never travel with legendary again.

Nice Trip, But The Write Up Was Very Misleading!
Posted by Tcoffey1 on 10/26/2013
SARASOTALARGO, FLORIDA -- The trip wasn't bad, we just had a problem with the write up on the flier. Such as "after breakfast we will all meet...." Breakfast wasn't at a restaurant or at the Killington Resort it was what we made in the condo. On the way to the "Resort" (which was a condo near the resort) the tour guide gave us $35.00 each to go grocery shopping for food we had to prepare in our condo. We were also told we would have a tour then the next day would be a leisure day so we could relax and rest up for the next day to sit on the bus for 3 hours to go to the next touring destination. My husband has an illness that he needed the resting day before the next trip day. We read that on the flier and we felt we could do this trip. When we got on the bus the tour guide said she was changing this around and we would be touring three days in a row. If we went on the weekend it would be to busy to get the bus in and out. There would also be double the amount of people there so it would be to congested to tour around. If we would have known that we wouldn't have taken the tour, because of my husbands health problem .

My advice to anyone booking with Legendary Journeys ask questions about everything, like are you making your own breakfast or eating in a restaurant! What is the name and address of the resort they say you are staying at, will the tours be as stated or will the tour guide have the option to change it around.

Over all the trip was enjoyable, just be careful about the wording and phrasing they write on the FLYER DESCRIBING THE ITINERARY OF THE TRIP.

What a Terrible Company. Stay Clear of All Hire Hype
Posted by Verford on 08/17/2013
OCALA, FLORIDA -- From the day we booked we should have got the message. Do not trust this company. They clump every thing together so that there is no way to check prices. We paid for an up grade in Hong Kong for a better hotel and never got it. W had pay 100 dollars for luggage traveling from Singapore to Hong Kong. This was not excess bagage either. Have we ever got that back. no. No matter what I do. We now realize that we paid far in excess for what we got. Never Ever Again

Could Not Get Refund Back After One Day
Posted by Jen6401 on 08/16/2013
We could not get our deposit back after one day. We were not told that we could not get it back at time of booking. We found out that our grand daughter is getting married during the time of our vacation which we don't want to miss.
