A Great Experience All The Way Around
Posted by on
LAGUNA HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- After missing my delivery call because my 9 year old answered and took an incomplete message, I went online to see if I could find the delivery service's phone number. Seeing unhappy review made me nervous, as my furniture was supposed to be delivered today. I called Customer Service at 9 A.M. today. Marianne was courteous and helpful and told me my delivery was scheduled between 11-3. My 2 delivery people arrived at 12;05, and were helpful, courteous, and professional. They set everything up where I asked, and even helped me move one of my own pieces out of the way. All pieces arrived in excellent shape, one week after placing my order, in the time frame that had been set up in the store. My sales person, Tony, at Laguna Hills was helpful with dimension tear sheets, and I felt like he was trying to help me find the right pieces for my room and it didn't feel like a hard sell. I had a great experience all around, and would shop Linders again.

I did not experience any bad issues as other users had stated with their delivery experiences. I wish I had got the names of my 2 delivery personnel, as I would like to commend them on their helpfulness, timeliness, and courtesy! Thanks! Michele

Free Groceries
Posted by on
Don't ever fall for Linder's SCAM on giving $500 in free groceries if you buy something from them. It's totally bogus! The hoops I had to go through just to sign up was impossible, then when I finally got it straight, I never received a dime. Linder's says they have nothing to do with the company that sends the money. What a joke! Of course you can't email, phone, fax or get a hold of them in any way. When I finally got an address to write to them, I found out they moved. I found one phone number, but it was disconnected.

It's been over 9 months and I'm still trying to collect my $500. Oh well, just a warning to never trust them because they'll never make good on their word. Just another company ripping people off for profit!

If Linder's advertised the free groceries with purchase then they have to abide by it. That some other organization is playing games is not your problem. Filing in small claims court will certainly get their attention and probably a $500 check before it gets to court.

Horrible Horrible Horrible Do Not Buy From Them

TORRNACE, CALIFORNIA -- I will make this short and sweet. Horrible customer service, lied to by everyone at every level, no returned phone calls from the manager of the Torrance store or corporate manager Sue. John Santos of the Torrance store lied to me on numerous occasions. My problem was simple but could not be resolved. Once they have your money they simply do not care! All their promotions are a SCAM! I will also be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

I have absolutely no idea how this company is in business, they should have been shut down. Worst experience ever! Do Not Buy From Them!!!!!!

=======================================================
TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT WE GO=

WE HAVE FILED A SMALL CLAIMS ACTION AGAINST THE VENDORS LISTED BELOW=CALENDARED BY COURT FOR 11/8/07 @ 8:30AM, Dept S 8, Superior Court of California, County of Orange, Harbor Justice Center, Laguna Hills Facility=

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO APPEAR AS A WITNESS, AS TO THE BUSINESS CONDUCT OF THESE VENDORS, PLS CONTACT RON LACKEY, Dana Pt, @ 949-388-2870

Re: Robert Michael, Ltd + Leggett & Platt + Lewis Industries, Inc = Linder's Furniture
These are all responsible for our lack of satisfaction to date =
=======================================================

Initially our dissatisfaction concerned the lack of comfort of the pullout mattress in the couch that we purchased for $3072.96.

We subsequently discovered that we were NOT VERBALLY INFORMED about the following WARNING, either before/during/after purchase of a couch/pullout bed--a federal flammability standard, 16CFR Part 1633 which became effective 7-1-07 =

"WARNING URETHANE FOAM IS FLAMMABLE--DO NOT EXPOSE URETHANE FOAMS TO OPEN FLAMES OR ANY OTHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT HIGH TEMPERATURE IGNITION SOURCES SUCH AS BURNING OPERATIONS, WELDING, BURNING CIGARETTES, SPACE HEATERS OR NAKED LIGHTS.

ONCE IGNITED, URETHANE FOAMS WILL BURN RAPIDLY, RELEASING GREAT HEAT AND CONSUMING OXYGEN AT A HIGH RATE. IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE THE RESULTING DEFICIENCY OF OXYGEN WILL PRESENT A DANGER OF SUFFOCATION TO THE OCCUPANTS. HAZARDOUS GASES RELEASED BY THE BURNING FOAM CAN BE INCAPACITATING OR FATAL TO HUMAN BEINGS IF INHALED IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES."

We discovered the WARNING as we were unpacking the mattress on 8-10-07. We have been continually contacting Linder's Furniture re this matter! Linder's neither warned us VERBALLY before, during, or after the purchase re this hazard.

Mattresses sold in the State of California have been subject to TB 603, an open flame test standard, effective January 1, 2005. The new Federal Standard 16CFR1633 is reported to closely resemble the requirements set forth in TB 603.

As of this writing on 9-22-07, Linder's Furniture is NOT AGREEING to our request to remove the furniture from our home & rebate the money we paid for the furniture. The furniture was delivered on 8-10-07 and our request for the return/rebate was on 8-13-07.

We are continuing to file complaints with ALL appropriate agencies.

We have filed Court action against Linder's Furniture, plus the manufacturers & intermediaries--Robert Michael Ltd & Lewis Industries & Leggett & Platt--with Court date set on 11/8/07 @ 8:30--in order to protect our home as well as to secure a comfortable couch/mattress!

Join us as a WITNESS giving testimony as to the business conduct of these vendors!

Aren't pretty much all mattresses flammable? I wouldn't be surprised in the least to find such a note on a mattress I bought. I recommend refraining from performing any welding jobs near this sofa though.

Flame, get real. Is this your first time for actually having FURNITURE in your pad? Btw, those clothes that you have on are flammable as well.

I read here some down on his luck creative writer was selling a futon on Craig's list. I'm pretty sure he wet on it enough to reduce its fire hazard factor significantly.

They are undre no obligation to refund you a dime. They cannot be manufactered past July 1st 2007. They can be sold at retail until January 1st 2008. So you will not get any money or they are not doing anything wrong.

Do Not Buy From Linder's
Posted by on
ANAHEIM HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- Linder's furniture is by far the worst store I have ever dealt within my entire life! We purchased a bedroom set in December along with a sectional, two leather sofas, one junior bedroom set, and two twin beds. You would think that if you spent that much money you would receive a little customer service. Every one of these items were received after the promised date and to this day we have still not received our bedroom furniture. When we tried to cancel they told us they would charge a 15% re-stocking fee. Re-stocking fee! FOR WHAT??? It's still in China! I hope that whoever reads this will think twice about purchasing ANYTHING from Linder's Furniture and then DON'T!!!

Oh where is my couch
Posted by on
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased my couch on December 9, 2006. The holidays caused a slight, but understandable, delay.

A couch was delivered on January 18, 2007, but it was the wrong color (manufacturer error). Linder customer service said that they would work with the manufacturer to get the frame of the couch re-upholstered, since that was the fastest way to get our couch. Perhaps it would be available on February 7th. So, not ready for Super Bowl, we cancelled our party (we just moved into a new house and don't have a couch at all).

February 7th, the estimated delivery was February 25th. When I called that week, no one could tell me what happened or if my couch existed. Finally, on March 8th, I was told that they would call me in a few days with a delivery time for my couch.

The next week I called to find out about my couch. Now the day it would arrive to their store would be March 22nd. And they would get the delivery set up right away so I could have the couch on March 23 or 24.

On March 22nd, the couch was still not finished, and not available for delivery. However, once again, I am promised a couch next week. Oh, and a
7% discount refunded to me.

My son was about 8 months old when we ordered the couch. Now we are celebrating his 1 year birthday on Saturday, having a bunch of friends over, but they will have nowhere to sit. Time to pull out those foldable camping chairs!

Linders Is Horrible, Don't Buy From Them
Posted by on
We purchased a bedroom set that we were told to call 30 days prior to needing it delivered and they would have it to us. Here we are 4 months later with no bed. They won't offer a refund due to accepting partial delivery. The customer service has been horrible and they won't even accept the bed back.

They make promises they can't keep and I hope you decide not to buy anything from them based on of this review.

I'm confused. You said "Here we are 4 months later with no bed", and then "they won't even accept the bed back".

Do you have the bed, or not?
Anonymous on 2010-03-31:
Threaten them with small claims court. If that fails then file a small claims action on them. That should get their attention and cost you less than $50 (which you get back later).

Do not buy anything. They rip you off.

CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA -- These guys pulled a classic bait and switch on us. They told us our couch would be ready in 3 weeks and then they delayed the delivery date. We are still waiting. Any calls to try to change this ends up being directed to an answering machine. Any messages left on that answering machine does not get answered. I would never ever go back to these crooks anymore.

bait and switch

adjective

of, related to, or employing an illegal or unethical sales technique in which a seller lures customers by advertising an often nonexistent item at a bargain price and then attempts to switch their attention to more expensive items.

Delayed delivery does not equate to bait and switch. Bad service? Absolutely! Bait and switch? Not even close.
Anonymous on 2009-11-06:
Delivery date3s can change. Products can go backorder. Bait and switch is where one item is advertised and then they try to give you another. There is no bait and switch here. What did you do? Buy a couch that was on sale?
Anonymous on 2009-11-07:
What difference does it make the couch that was purchased was on sale. The delivery date was delayed and the company has not responded to the messages left by the person who has posted the complaint. That is not acceptable whether the couch was purchased at full price or a lesser amount was paid because it was on sale. Bad service at any price is still bad service.
Anonymous on 2009-11-07:
Pro, I can't believe I have to explain this. I have worked in retail for many years. When a popular item is oversold, it is considered a backorder. The reason I asked if the couch was on sale is that having a delayed shipping status would be very common when this happens.

Generally in a furniture store if an item can not be delivered within 30 days of the sale, then the customer has the option to obtain a refund. If the item is non-deliverable within 90 days, a refund is forced.

The OP never gives the original delivery date. Just that it would be 3 weeks and they are still waiting....So when was it purchased?
Anonymous on 2009-11-07:
Does delayed shipping explain away the fact the OP's messages were not returned? Having worked in retail for many years surely you know that communication is key. But of course you will find a way to push the responsibility back on to the customer. That fact is apparent in all of your posts.
DebtorBasher on 2009-11-07:
If this was a popular item, they should have given the poster the appropriate delivery date based on the popularity of the item. They would have known when he bought it, whether it would take longer to have it delivered and that's what they should have explained. However, by the posting, I am to believe he was given the delivery date as three weeks, but did not stand by that agreement. The fact that they will not talk with the poster or return the call pretty much sums up their intentions of satisfying the customer. If it was a backorder, they should have contacted the customer by now to let them know...or, at least return the calls.
Anonymous on 2009-11-08:
Debtor, not necessarily. I worked for Heilig Myers back in the day, and remember a couple items being oversold that were really dog ugly. We were amazed that such an item would sell as it did. It took nearly 3 months to complete all orders. ALL customers were offered a refund after 30 days.

Plus, if Linders is part of a corporation, as HM was, then you are also dealing with first come first fill situations. The OP should just go down there and ask for a refund if he/she does not want to wait.

As for the return phone calls, how many times has the OP called? I can hardly believe a store would not call a customer back unless there have been calls everyday asking and telling the same thing.
Anonymous on 2009-11-08:
It doesn't matter how many missed messages there were. One call not returned is one too many.

"I can hardly believe a store would not call a customer back unless there have been calls everyday asking and telling the same thing." That is BS. As long as the OP is not threatening then the job of retail employees is to answer any question any time that it is asked. But you wouldn't understand that. You are too busy priming up that wagging finger of yours for your next accusation against a customer. Up and down! And up and down!

right on, pc. one missed call back is one too many. people that understand what good customer service is would never try to push the responsibility back on the customer.
DebtorBasher on 2009-11-08:
LadyScot, being that the posted stated, 'calls' and 'messages' as plural, I would say it's safe to say they have called more than once and they were all left unanswered. Customer service has changed a lot since 'back in the day' and that's the problem these days. How many calls from a customer, did it take back then, before one of the calls or messages were answered?
Anonymous on 2009-11-08:
DB, it depends on the question. I was in credit, so I would not handle a delivery call. The sales person usually would in our store. I specifically stated for the OP to go down and demand a refund.

I was not placing blame on the OP. I was merely asking questions. I would prefer that King James and ProConsumer no longer address me. I am sick of the snarks and smart remarks. How hard is it to simply ignore me if you do not agree with my POV?
Anonymous on 2009-11-08:

Bedroom Furniture
Posted by on
PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA -- We bought a whole bedroom set with the warranty. When the set arrived, it SMELLED.. We called Linders, and they said it was the varnish used and to just let it air out. Two weeks later, still smells, a month later, we get someone out to say yes it smells... How smart are they!? Finally 3 months of sleeping on the floor the smell left.

We had to move one of our kids into the other kids room and store the furniture in there with fans going 24/7.
