Lobster tails.....NOT, actually tiny shrimp!!!!!

I was very curious about Long John Silver's Lobster Tails at only $3.99. actually the taste was good, but my curiosity got the better of me, so I took the bread coating off of several of them, and low and behold what I found was actually very small shrimp!!!!!!!

How can this company advertise this as "Lobster"? it is NOT ! ! !

I hope some government agency shuts this fraud down, but then when EVER did a government agency do it's job??

It is more closely related to porcelain crabs and hermit crabs. Crustaceans labeled as langostino are no more than 3 inches (7.6 cm) long, and weigh no more than 7 ounces (200 g) [1]. Langostinos are not langoustes (spiny lobsters) despite a similar name (in Spanish, lobster is called langosta). Also, langostinos are sometimes confused with langoustines (Norway lobster), which is a true lobster common in European cuisine

Corporate Lacking in Service

College Park: Two times these people have not put my entire order in the bag. I tried to call them only to receive no answer.
I emailed the corporate office TWICE and also I received no answer.
I will no longer buy from ANY of their businesses.
In the future I will get my take-out seafood from Captain D's, they have never messed up my order and the portions are better too.

If a restaurant makes the same mistake twice, then I'm inclined to believe it will happen a third time and so-on and so-fourth. It's just fast food. There are plenty of other places to go to clog your arteries. I'm with the OP on this one. Since I never eat at these places, if I ever do, I guess I'd better check that bag! Thanks for the post.

Someone asked why I did not check the bag after the first incident. The answer is I do not feel it is my responsibility to make sure they did their job. My BIGGEST problem is the inability to either report or get a response from the company.

There is a reason it is called fast food. The purpose is to get in and out in a hurry because of time constraints. Which means we the consumer do not always have the time to open the bag and everything in the bag to look it over. Next time you feel the need to post Think it through a little further

no need to be rude to other members. jktshff1 is right. The reason you should check is to ensure you got your order, for yourself. Corporate isn't going to jump hoops for you over a minor issue like a few messed up orders. Take your complaint to the manager/owner of that location.

Art, have you gone back to Long John's and asked to speak to management? Ask them for the #'s for the district manager, after voicing your dissatisfaction to them directly. Not worth going out of your way I'm sure, but when you're in the area, couldn't hurt.

I was going to go back and speak to them about this. After I considered it for a bit I decided it was a waste of my time and gas. After all, if they won't even answer the phone then what reason do I have to believe they genuinely would care.
However, I went to the competitors place and really liked my experience there. That place would be Captain D's. There they actually showed me the contents of each and every package in my order without my asking or saying anything about the experience at Long Johns.
I will return to them from now on.

Yea it would be nice to have a nice slow lunch braek.
Well some of us have to work and pay taxes so others can complain about fast food places.
I would like to go to Applebees for lunch insted. The money is almost the same. Well - some of us have to work....

Filthy, nasty shop

Stopped at kfc/ long john silvers in Santa Rosa. The shop was so filthy and nasty. Kids fooling around, messing up orders and the food was nasty. If the health department walked in it would have been closed down it was so bad, especially the food prep area. Someone needs to take control here before someone gets really sick. It has put me off Long John Silvers for good.

I been to LSJ a couple of times I hate seafood, so all I got was chicken and fries not bad for a fast food fish joint.

But if the place is a mess and the prep area is nasty why would u eat there?

There's not really enough details, you just say the food prep area was nasty. What you think is nasty might be normal food scraps that happen when you PREP FOOD in that area. It happens OP. The store having kids running around shouldn't reflect poorly on the store, but the parents who don't watch them.

I always heard the statement that if you went into the kitchen of a fine dining restaurant, you would not want to eat there. True, food preparation is not a particularly appetizing experience, and fast food sometimes appears really disgusting. However, if you are familiar with the process, you know what is normal and what is over the top. The OP may feel it was filthy, and I may look at it and say, "Another day in Paradise." ROFL

i use to know where to go online - for VA beach at least - to find the most recent health code violations. been a while since i looked at them, so it'll take some time to find the best web page for it

BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA -- My husband and I waited in the drive thru for at least 15 minutes with only 1 car in front of us. I got out and went into the store to see what was taking so long. When I got into the store they only had 1 young man working both the drive thru and the front counter, So I ask the cook where the manager was and he said "Tammy is on the phone." This explains why the young man was by himself. Then after about 5 minutes Tammy the manager came out and when I told her how long I had been waiting then all she had to say was that she had to count the drawers for the next shift. It took 20 minutes to get 1 Fish and Chicken Combo. Even though I was inside the restaurant it was rang up in the drive thru. However I do not think the young man Michael A. was at fault, I believe that it was the rude managers fault, she should have been helping customers instead of talking on the phone.

I WILL NEVER GO TO THE BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA, LONG JOHN SILVERS RESTAURANT #31860 AGAIN. Also the telephone # on the receipt is incorrect. Barstow's area code is 760 not 909 as printed on the receipt.

Somehow I only read that as one guy that was working. So, there was a cook and a front counter person. Still that's a bit of a skeleton crew to be working fast food.

Yes, they were shorthanded, but it wasn't necessarily the manager's fault. Was it a personal or business call? You probably don't know. And if she had to count the money for the next shift, she probably couldn't put it off. There is nothing in your review to convince me that the manager was rude.

It's too bad you didn't get your fish in a flash. However, did it cross your mind that maybe Tammy was on the phone trying to call the next shift in early?? And if the policy is for the manager to count the money before the next shift arrives, I guess that's what needs to be done then.

Two people working an LJS is not enough people. The manager does have the responssibility to see that the oncoming shift has a correct cash drawer, so that takes out half your crew onsite. People complain about the time it takes to prepare food, then turn around and complain whenit is fast that it has obviously been made too long and kept under heat lamps You cannot have it both ways. Just imagine a server plopping a raw or frozen entree in front of you and saying that you couldn't get it any faster. LOL I have worked in restaurants, and can see both sides. In this case, I do not see that the manager was rude.

It sucks it took so long to get your food. I imagine they were short staffed and the manager was out of people to call in. The worker probably told you the manager was on the phone because disclosing they are counting the cash drawers may be a risk.

Ok, I work there! What day did you go in? I was working there the day you posted this "complaint".
Anyway, Michael is the Assistant Manager. That week we got new registers. The company was recently bought out by other people so all the procedures have changed.

Also, keep in mind that it takes 4.5 mins to cook the fish you ordered. If you came in during the "down time" then all orders are cooked as they are ordered. What if that ONE car in front of you ordered a family meal with 2 or 3 sides, plus shrimp, plus lobster bites? Everything takes time to cook. Do you want us to serve you uncooked fish? No. And we dont want to serve anyone uncooked fish!

And as for Michael being alone, since the new owners took over, they cut hours drastically. So there is usually only one person working the drive thru and front counter during the "down time".

And Tammy, she is the nicest person/manager anyone will ever know. She has a lot of responsibilities you do not even know about. She actually might have been on a conference call that day. She has to be on those once a week.

Haha your welcome. People just dont realize what goes on in a fast food restaurant. What all we have to do. Apparently some people think the food they order magically appear cooked and ready for them.

I think I have a pretty good idea what goes on from reading posts on sites like this by fast food workers. Also, my son worked at Wendy's, and when I'd pick him up sometimes I would sit inside while waiting for him and just observe what goes on behind the counter. I think the people who use the drive-thru are mostly the ones who don't realize what it takes to get their food.

after eating at long johns the last two times i have gone home with stomache cramps and the runs ,looks like they would wise up and stop using hydrated cooking oil like most other resturants have needless to say i will not return

We have always been satisfied with the prompt friendly service at Long John Silvers and eat there quite often. The food has always been well prepared and quickly served by friendly personel.

LAFAYETTE, INDIANA -- I went through the drive through and ordered the grilled fish dinner. I pulled around to the window to get my food and after sitting there for 10 minutes, 2 cars pull up behind me at the drive up window. After sitting there another 10 minutes, I was asked to pull over so they could give the 2 cars behind me their food, mine still wasn't ready. So, I pull over to let the other cars get their food.

After sitting there another 5 minutes without my food, I went inside and asked them to refund my money and left. I will never go back again!

Ok now, don't get me started. I went to the grocery store and got Gorton's Beer Batter Battered Fish Fillets...and when I opened the bag, they were all crumbly and falling apart. I'm ticked off!

Its not Gorton's fault, its my grocery store. They constantly have problems with their freezers and just throw the food back in. They'll hear from me...grrrrrrrrrr.

I do salmon filets on cedar planks with apple slices on my grill, yummmmmmm. I use only lump hardwood charcoal, and alder fire spice. It is delicious if I do say so myself.

TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES?! That is simply unacceptable. Good for you for putting up with them for that long. I have some advice: If someone asks you to pull over "so we can give the cars behind you their food", do what my father does. Say, "No. Give me my food, then I'll leave and quit holding up the line." It always catches the drivethrough person off guard, b/c most people pull over anyway.

I ECHO THE PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ABOUT BEING UNABLE TO LOG INTO YOUR WEB SITE TO COMPLETE THE CUSTOMER SURVEY. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES, WITH NO LUCK. WHEN I TRY THIS SAME WEB SITE FOR "OTHER" RESTAURANT SURVEYS I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS.

I just completed their Long John's survey and had no trouble logging on. If you have given Long John's feedback there before, you have to wait 6 weeks to enter again....

Good Service, Fish?

Service was outstanding, Robert went out of his way to give us the best options to save us money. Fish was too greasy & salty. The grease saturated the napkin, Combinations were limited.

i no longer eat at long john silvers. last time i was there, the fishy was greasy, and over breaded. about the only thing i liked was the coleslaw.

It is way too greasy, so much that, I'm usually full after the first piece of fish. The service is always outstanding though.

My Children Were So Scared They Didn't Want To Stay And Finish Their Food

WACO, TEXAS -- I visited the Waco TX location on 6th st. with my two children today and I was not happy! The employees were loud, unprofessional, and just ghetto! While getting our drinks they were talking about how one of the employees has stabbed someone!!! While we were eating my kids said " mommy can we just go I don't feel comfortable here". I've never been to a restaurant with this type of atmosphere. All the loud inappropriate conversation was uncalled for! I work in a restaurant myself and we strive to make every customer feel at home.

I would be ashamed as a manager to have this type of behavior at my establishment! I will never subject my children to this again! I hope something gets done about it.

I've been to that same one and I did not care for the food. I do remember the women talking about things I did not care to hear about....one of them being the manager.

This reminds me of another large chain restaurant where two of the girls were talking as the one complained about how miserable she was with her "female problems" and made sure to share with the other employee some gross details. I got up and cancelled our orders and brought it to the managers attention who was female. I got the generic reply of how sorry she was. We had of course lost our appitite and left. Sorry to hear your kids were so frightened by the conversation.

Last time I was in Stop n shop with my daughter the organic food was next to the florist and the girls who were working there were talking about their favorite sexual positions and who was the best f they ever had.....Employees really need to watch what they say around customers.

Right next to the Kiss & Tell Motel, C2O!! At one time we consumers were amazed at how unprofessional some employees had become...talking on cellphones, chatting with co-workers while the customer stood there and ignoring the customer in general. Discussing your latest sexual encounter is taking it too far. Most adults don't care to hear it, children present or not.

Tiny Shrimp, Large Portions

WACO, TEXAS -- The last time I was at Long John Silvers was when I was a kid, about 8. I loved going there because of the tartar sauce. Yum!

Wow! I can not believe how much that restaurant has changed. The portions were huge and the shrimp, so disappointing. I picked off the batter to reveal a tiny shrimp, which looked like a massive shrimp with the batter on.

The fries were great, but the tartar sauce was terrible.

I never liked LJS myself, but I do remember that malt vinegar they had. That was good.

Yeah I agree with OP. Every since LJS became yet another YUM! brand its gone the way of all other YUM! acquisitions such as Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. I guess somebody at YUM! figured out Americans will buy low quality crap so long as its packaged in a familiar wrapper and ya got KICKEN cool commercials. And that really makes me angry.

If your local LJS has gone down hill, it's because it is NOT owned by YUM. The YUM objective is to own 20% of the units and 80% to franchise operators. The Waco LJS were sold to Ken Durrett (KD Foods)located in Jacksonville, TX. Very "hands off" owner and real work of art as he worked for his father's company (Southern Multifoods) and his own father fired him. YUM oversight is virtually non existant and the expierienced staffs, of the now down to 2 LJS stores, have gone. Read the other comment, and wonder "that's the best people available to hire?"

I get what you are saying, CS4, but from a brand experience standpoint, Yum had better rethink their perspective. If I have a rotten experience in an LJS, I'm not going to ask whether it's corporate or franchised. I'm going to see the LJS name and extrapolate to the whole.

Anyway, Iggy's has much better fish than LJS ever thought of having....

LJS is just the step child of YUM. KFC is the cash cow. Watch the stock of YUM. If KFC does good, so does YUM stock.

goduke, there is no Iggy's in Waco. Is that the one about 30hrs. down the road in RI. If so, thanks for the tip, I will be taking a trip through there in Sept. It's my seafood extravaganza.
