M.A.A.C.S. Fake Air Force Battle (Abu) Uniforms
Posted by Brian R. on 09/04/2007
M.A.A.C.S. says they sell real ABU's. Well they DON'T!!! I bought mine from them and they were FAKE-FAKE-FAKE-FAKE-FAKE!!!!
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS RIP OFF ARTIST. I got my ass chewed by my Commander for the FAKES!!! And to boot, they won't give me my money back. I investigated this place and they are a scam. They say they are veteran-owned, but yet they won't tell me who the vet is????

This place sells surplus or black market items, BUYER BEWARE. CHECK WITH THE BBB ON THEM.

They always have a sales pitch to get you to buy something else. I wanted them to sew my insignia and function badges on, and they charged me $48.00!!! RIP-OFF!!!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does your duty station not have a uniform store?

Good question, moneybags. Probably cheaper, too, if the OP bought them on base.

I buy BDU's on a fairly regular basis (local stores, EBay, etc.) I don't really understand what the problem is with your uniform. What? Were the colors wrong? Please clue us in...

My husband got his utilities cheaper at the NEX. I know in the navy that they were discounted to your pay grade. I also know that on his ship they had a huge list of companies that are black listed by the navy, you should check and see if you have one as well. And if you do, go ahead and have them add these guys to the list.

1) The Air Force decided to phase in availability of the new ABU. The new ABU is a different color, design, and material than the old BDUSome bases got them before others - therefore if you wanted the new ABU you had to order them through a GSA contract supplier or wait up to 1 year for them to arrive at yur base.
2) They are usually NOT cheaper if bought on base. Although there is no sales tax when buying on base AAFES (the Army and Air Force Exchange Service) as well as NEX and Marine Corps equivalent are not "at-cost" retailers. They do make a "profit" that is then used to fund other military services and non-appropriated functions.
3) Uniforms are NOT pro-rated or discounted based on pay grade for the AF and Army. I don't know about the current Navy or USMC policy. It would seem unlikely because enlisted members are given a uniform clothing maintenance/replacement allowance annually that does not differ by pay grade (i.e. and E-4 and an E-9 both receive the same amount for clothing replacement.)

ONE MORE THING! I HAVE HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MAACS. I ordered $383.14 worth of ABU & accessories from MAACS on 6 Aug 07 and cannot get them to respond, acknowledge, or refund my money with regards to this order. Stay away from MAACS - I honestly believe the testimonials on their website are fake.

I think Ejack should be sent to investigate this one! He'll teach 'em a thing or two about ripping off our Airforce men and women!

MAACS blocked their email accounts and their telephone mail boxes are full. I filed complaint on 1/22/08 with the Better Business Bureau to obtain my full refund, which is now in process. This treatment to our Military Service Personnel is inappropriate and an outrage!

Extremely poor customer service and product quality.

Being on IA with the army I was recently issued ACU's. To make my uniform right, I recently purchased two U.S. Navy name tapes and two Chief rank patches from M.A.A.C.S. The U.S. Navy tapes were fine but, the rank patches "anchors" were terrible (see picture attached, left is theirs, right is correct). They were so out of regulation that they were useless for anything other than a demonstration as to why I wanted either a refund or replacement.

To be blunt, they were a joke. I took the time initially to try to help them get better and allow them the opportunity to make this right. I scanned the patch they made with a proper one and only asked that they replace the one they made with a correct and within regulations patch. No response from Helen (the customer service rep). I tried to call more than once but never got a person. I then wrote a second time to see what was going on and why she did not respond. Again, no response. This company should be put out in a bulletin DoD wide as their service and product quality are not acceptable.

Their products are ok at best, garbage in some cases and their service is so bad that its a waste to even try to talk to them. For my part I will work to make sure my sailors never patronize this company and I recommend that all personnel stay away from this fraud. To call themselves vets makes me sick. To this day they have never so much as raised a finger to correct the mistake or complete my order. They never delivered my IR flag either and its been almost a month. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!
