So Much Fraud In Timeshare Market-Beware!
Posted by Angelina1 on 02/17/2009
SHENANDOAH VALLEY, MCGAINESVILLE, VIRGINIA -- This is our 3rd timeshare. 1 is a total fraud (see my review of colonial crossings of Williamsburg). This one - ok, since we came to hear a timeshare talk, we were given a 2 night stay at their resort in BEAUTIFUL new luxury apartment which slept 8! huge kitchen, huge bath w/jacuzzi, etc. We bought, and returned to an upstairs one br TINY THING WITH "PARTIAL KITCHEN" and one pull out sofa. NOT NEARLY ENOUGH ROOM FOR ALL OF US! people were sleeping on the floor--and FOUND OUT THIS IS WHAT I'M STUCK WITH FOREVER!!!??? Oh, my contract reads - I do get "sleeps 8" !! BUT IT'S EVERY OTHER YEARS FOR 4 - yes, you're seeing this correctly!! This is the height of fraud!

When I contacted them, I was told I could have 8 - EVERY OTHER YEAR instead, SO I'D BASICALLY BE PAYING FULL PRICE, loosing a week a year, and only traveling EVERY OTHER YEAR to get the gorgeous condo I was LED TO BELIEVE WAS WHAT I'D HAVE EACH YEAR!!! otherwise, great place, SOOO MUCH STUFF TO DO, separate indoor waterpark, but all EXPENSIVE !! (discounts if you pay $100 each for the discount card!!!!!!!!!)...

Buyer, beware!! Take your contract to a LAWYER IMMEDIATELY, you have 3 days to cancel.

Was there a salesman there with a Parrott on his shoulder?

When you buy a time share don't you as a rule get a unit number and chance to look the unit over?

LOL, Doc. Some years back, my Sis and BIL attended one of these 2-day, 1-night pitches. She talked him into it because she wanted to get away for a free trip and was also interested in the computer they offered for listening to the program. She not only got the computer, they bought into a time-share! Luckily for them, they've been enjoying it very much. Don't know the name of the company.

I'm enjoying our FIRST TIMESHARE, don't feel ripped-off in any way, knew my WEEKS weren't the HIGHEST and that we couldn't get different/favorite locations at a snap--but we can't even get VIRGINIA BEACH (2 hrs away) where rooms aren't even that expensive, during "prime time" which is June 1-Sep. 1. It's always "off season" --but early May and late Sept. aren't bad here--could be 90 degrees, but more likely 70-ish. But winter months are great for various overseas, carribean, etc. so it's working. It's a fortune though, with RCI reservation (you MUST HAVE - OR CAN'T GO ANYWHERE, M A I N T E N A N C E fees, HIGH and going up, then, you pay to go to other destinations, like $200 yr.(places other than YOUR timeshare location), and you pay another $60 if someone other than you is going, i.e. your OWN CHILD !! SO - THEY ARE ROLLING IN DOUGH. i WIsh I'd had some of that $$$ to invest...AGAIN BEWARE.

I don't understand timeshares at all. For the money you pay, you could vacation nicely anywhere, anytime...no requirements, time limits or income loss.
