I own Maytag washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave & refrigerator. Washer failed after just a few months and now 9 months later find it needs a complete new control board. We are a family of 2 adults. Not used much! Trying to get service with our extended warranty is horrible at best with long waits to get anyone out. Dishwasher was used one time and it failed. Took over a week to get someone here. Now have to wait another two weeks to get touch pad/panel in so it can be replaced. I am told by serviceman that it was assembled wrong!?

The top oven on my new double oven is not heating correctly. Temp is off. When they delivered refrigerator they could not get water out of dispenser on door to stop. Still working on that as well as trying to remove all the adhesive left on the door of freezer. Unit scratches using basic dish towels (black finish).

I regret my purchases and feel extreme frustration with the time involved to get help and the lack of quality in these items. I had Kenmore appliance for over 14 years and never had any repairs on them, ever, let alone after one use. I paid so much money and have to wait weeks and weeks to be able to use my appliances. Consider your selection very strongly.

Maytag's Plan To Rip You Off
By -

After my washing machine (Maytag) quit working I called to get it serviced. I got the runaround. I bought the Extend service plan for all 3 of my Maytag Appliances around $600.00. After calling to get service the lady on the phone was only trying to sell me Renewal service plan again...I said not until I get the problem fixed! She did not seem to care about the washing machine problem and gave me a number to call for local service.

I did call all day long and email too no answer from them!!! I think it's a scam. I could have spent the money to get a new washer. It's been Two weeks now and no closer to getting the washer service or an answer to my phone calls or emails. I will never again buy anything made by Maytag or an Extend Service Plan.

MAINE -- I bought a Maytag washer back in 2004. I had it three months they had to come over and tear it apart and replace everything. Then I had to have the motor replaced 3 times. It was so loud it sounded like a jet taking off and shook my whole house. The last time someone came and fixed my washer he broke my agitator and couldn't put the washer back together right. Last week I was doing a load of the laundry and I went outside for a minute. When I came back in my house of full of smoke. I stopped the washer and pulled it out. Smoke was going everywhere we almost lost our house. I pulled the washer out of the house, and will NEVER buy a Maytag product again.

Don't Buy the MAH2400.
By -

I bought the MAH2400 2 1/2 years ago from Sears. I must include the fact that there are two adults in the house, who are careful with appliances. Two weeks after the 1-year warranty expired the door cracked at the top metal hinge. OK, we got it repaired from Sears to the tune of over $200.00. Six months later, the same thing happened. Called Maytag, which was now owned by Whirlpool, talked with customer service, etc. They offered a free part, but Sears had to install it. Another $130.00.

The reps said there is a 3-month warranty on the parts. All right. Five months later, the crack began again. It is now hanging off the hinge and we have had enough. No more Maytag, ever. I am getting rid of the thing. It's too bad, since it hasn't been a bad washer...it's just the door that is a piece of junk.

Maytag/Whirlpool Are Cheap Cheap Products
By -

We bought a Maytag washer and dryer around July 2005, just over a year later (about 2 months after the warranty) the dryer quit working so we had to buy another dryer. Now March 2009 our washing machine stopped working. Had an appliance repair guy tell us it was the transmission and it would be almost as cheap to buy a new one rather than repair it, so we go and buy a Whirlpool (didn't know at the time they were the same company) get it home and the first thing the control knob doesn't work. It was a new machine and didn't work. Stay away from all Maytag/Whirlpool appliances unless you like being frustrated.

Fire In The Hole

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Six months ago I purchased a Maytag microwave from Home Depot. The model number is mmv4205baw. This is a fairly basic model. I purchased it because of its low price and the Maytag name. About a month ago the turntable ceased to function. A small plastic piece had broken that was responsible for moving the turntable. I have never had an appliance problem in that short a period of time. Last night I set the oven on 10 seconds to reheat a piece of meat. I left the kitchen and came back in less than two minutes.

The contents of the oven were ablaze. The glass turntable had shattered and a good portion of the exterior had melted. I bought the Maytag because it has an easily recognizable name and I believed it would give me years of good service.

Maytag Microwave and Poor Customer Service
By -

Maytag Model #MMV4205 - This model was bought less than three months before the heating element burned out. Maytag would not exchange. Told us they would send a repair person to fix. 5 days later repairman comes and says he cannot fix it since he did not have the parts. An order is placed to order the parts. A week later one part shows up broken. When the Maytag repairman shows up he says that parts is no good and that the two other parts were back ordered and would not ship for a month. We call their response number and request to get this resolved quickly and do not want to wait another month to get the microwave fixed.

The person at customer service tells us that he cannot do anything but put an expedite in for the parts. We inform him that the repairman had already tried to put an expedite on the part and that he was told that because this is a new model that they cannot get us a part till then. The customer service person tells us he does not believe this and says that an expedite will be put in and that we have to wait for the part. This is the worst service I have dealt with. We spent over $400 on a microwave that is supposed to be the top of the line and instead the problems make us feel as if this was the worst decision to buy this model.

Customer service was informed this complaint would be put in. All we want is to have a working microwave. A replacement model would have sufficed which they could do immediately but instead they make us wait and go without a microwave for who knows how much longer.

BAD SEASON AT FACTORY: Maytag QuietSeries 300 MDBH970AWW

WADSWORTH, OHIO, OHIO -- For the last 5 years, I have never had the chance to put away my purchase receipt and owner's manual because it is a mechanical and electronic nightmare!!! First, the upper dishwasher rack lost a screw after barely 2 years and one customer service side of the company said it was made of nylon and under warranty, then another customer service side of the company said it was not, and I spent hours on the phone trying to get that addressed and ended up paying 200 dollars, just to get that fixed!

Then the little mechanism that holds the door closed broke, and there was more money I had to spend for service (allegedly, the company realized that the upper part of the door was a problem), and now, the electronic part of the same door that was replaced must be babysat the entire time the dishwasher is on, otherwise, the heating element (stuck ON in some cycles) and the motor would burn up and catch the house on fire.

I have literally opened the door up to see what's going on and the dishwasher does not hold water for 4/5th of the cycles. I must fill it with water about 20 times. The burning smell is awful!!! And I will never buy from this company again!

Four Strikes You're Out Maytag!

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Bottom line, Maytag appliances are junk! All of them! I built a new house and installed all new Maytag appliances. At the time I thought the Maytag repairman was legit. Oh! Not so! Three years later the dishwasher racks had rusted to powder. New ones were $140 each! Replaced the dishwasher with a different brand. Broiler in the oven does not work at all. The main stove-top burner (electric) has only two settings now... off and HIGH. Nothing in between. The microwave is possessed. None of the buttons work as they should. The fan button turns on the light, the light button initiates program mode. Cancel on, the fan turns on the light.

The fridge has the worst ice maker in the world. Rarely works. The water that comes from the cold water faucet has tasted like plastic and sulfur since it was new, even with new filters. Can't use the water dispenser to get a drink. Top of the fridge is too warm and bottom freezes food. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT BUY MAYTAG.

Maytag Microwave
By -

I had a new microwave with 13 months of good service until it finally went out with the main heating element going out along with the control panel. I called Maytag customer service and they basically didn't care and referred me to their manager who also didn't care about me being just one month out from their one year warranty (13 days from the date of purchase). I had already spent $75.00 to have a serviceman tell me what the problem was. The repair would have cost me more than what the microwave was worth.

I took the unit out and threw it away and purchased a Whirlpool. Not that Whirlpool is the best, they have other issues with their refrigerators that I have had 5 service calls on within the last 4 years. The bottom line is nothing is made in the United States anymore and the quality of products is poor. These companies spend less to make them now since they are overseas and charge the consumer more and pass on a product that is designed to fail within 2 years or less.
