Stranded for TWO days

Mexicana in Mexico does NOT care about you. They were greedy, money-hungry, rude, and totally unprofessional.

They left my family to sit on the floor (provided no chair) while we waited over 6 HOURS trying to board a flight on our paid tickets. When I got fed up and couldn't put up with their comedy, I went to another city, another airline and finally flew back home.

Though they may come off as selling tickets cheap, don't be surprised if you lose it because of their slow or sneaky services and you have to pay all over again.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as rude but 6 hours is not 2 days. What happened for 2 days? Were you provided a hotel room and meals? Why couldn't you board with your paid tickets? Fill in the blanks please!!

I admit 6 hours is a long wait but I would certainly not pack it up and drive for who knows how long to try my luck at a different city and airline. Details of the delay, why they were refused boarding, compensation offered as well as what the next flight they were booked on was.

Lots of missing details from the OP, but I'll bet that the flight was delayed. The OP probably got tired of either the lack of updates from the airline or simply got tired of waiting around the airport.

A 6 hour delay is not unheard of for a mechanical or weather delay.

I once was on a one hour flight that was delayed 7 hours... Using this math I guess that was really 2 1/4 days! Wow.

Thankfully they didn't have a dog with them - would have been like a two week delay for it!

It appears to me the delay was 6 hours and the OP turned it into 2 days by driving to another city to rebook with a different airline. More details please??

When we came back from Cancun our flight was delayed by 4 hours due to mechanical failure in Detroit of another plane and ours was used for that route. It is not unheard of. We sat in the airport too and had a great experience. The personnel were nice and accommodating.

Okay, I was trying to make a really long story short. I waited at airport for 6 hours, called taxi, went back to hotel to wait further (afterall, Mexicana had no chairs or a place where we could wait longer). And no, they did not provide ANY compensation or offer me a place to stay. I was with my family but they did not care and shrugged their shoulders expecting me to do it on my own even though I bought tickets for ALL of us. After many hours of being with them (where they also wanted me to pay in CASH for us to take a completely different flight, did not want my credit card-- you decide if it's greed), and desperate to get to our destination, I decided to hop on the bus to another city with a larger international airport and after some more hours of waiting because Mexicana want to charge me even more money, I decided to purchase whole new (and MUCH cheaper)tickets from AA and we finally got home. Next time, I am NOT taking Mexicana, NEVER will trust them again. Period. So yes, it was 2 lost days to get home. Could have lost my job but thankfully, my boss was understanding. The six hours at the airport from 12am to 6am was the most traumatic period of the entire 2 days b/c they just told me to wait... and to wait... and wait and then to say, "sorry, your plane left!" In the mosquitoes infested waiting area with NO chairs in the wee hours of the night, forcing to be awake. If you think that's exaggeration, then by all means, don't take my advice and risk going through hell like me.

Okay, sorry guys, I fix the title- I saw where the confusion started-- I was stranded in Mexico for 2 days thanks to Mexicana is what I should have said. :)

OP, was the airport empty or were all the available chairs being used? The Cancun airport is small, and luckily had enough chairs for all of us. But I can see if there were many delayed flights how it can fill up. If there were no more chairs, they can't make them appear out of thin air. I am sorry this happened, but alot of it could have been a language barrier and frustration on your part.

And I can't remember using our card in Mexico,...we used cash so I don't know about the refusal of the card.

You still don't say why you weren't allowed to board only briefly saying.....
"they just told me to wait... and to wait... and wait and then to say, "sorry, your plane left!"

Was there a mechanical issue? A weather problem? Was the crew late? It's sounds like you were treated badly but to get the proper compensation advice, if that's what you're looking for, why were you not allowed to board?
