No Cut Tummy Tuck- Non Invasive

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I had “non invasive” (so they say) lipo from Monarch Medspa in 2012. it was horrifying to say the least. I'm from Harrisburg Pennsylvania, had my consult in Harrisburg office, the surgery is done in King of Prussia. When I arrived at the facility when you first walk in it's like a regular office building with people renting spaces. The “doctors office“ is in the back. When I went in there I sat there for about 30 minutes before they took me back. When I got to the room it was cold. There was no IVs. There's like a metal table they laid me on.

They gave me an Ativan, gave me a injection, just a topical numbing agent and started stabbing me, basically cutting me open and separating the fat from my stomach wall and burning it and sucking it out, very dangerous to seizure. I was awake the whole time. They didn't monitor any of my vitals during this. I was shaking like a leaf. It took like four hours. Basically paid someone $7000 to stab me. Then they told me I could go back to work that it was not invasive. Well let me tell you this honey after surgery I had to stay over in a hotel, when I woke up the next day my bed was covered with blood.

I had to wear several bindings for several months for my skin to grow back to my stomach wall. I had lumps all over in the lower part of my stomach. It took at least 2 to 3 years for my stomach to start feeling normal again. I had to buy a bodysuit like a tight kind of waist trainer bodysuit. I had to wear literally a piece of OSB board that they cut out in a circle along with a waist trainer along with a bodysuit for several months afterwards and now 2022 I have tons of loose skin like you can tell they just didn't know what they were doing. So I'm finally going to a real surgeon to get fixed properly by a board certified surgeon.

While I was in there getting stabbed basically almost to death the doctor even told me he wasn't a board-certified surgeon. He told me that he came up with this procedure and that the owners were trying to steal it from him and that he was parting ways with them like who tells their patients those things. The doctor was nice and he was a cool guy but this here was horrific experience for me. It was traumatizing to say the least

Laser Burn

TIMONIUM, MARYLAND -- I had received a good number of laser removal treatments from Monarch and was pleased with the fact that my tattoo was finally showing signs of removal. I was told that I only had a few treatments left and that I was that much closer to having it removed. I had been receiving treatment at the Timonium location and went faithfully every 6 to 8 weeks which cost me thousands of dollars. My tattoo wasn't that big and it's located on my ankle. Well, I went in for another treatment and it was the worst experience in my life. I left there in so much pain. I couldn't even walk by the end of the day. I had severe purple, reddish blistering initially.

It was swollen and red all around the tattoo area and up part of my cafe. The blistered area had black spots here and there on it. Parts of the blister would bleed, did I mention that I could not walk. My leg hurt so bad! I called Monarch and asked if this was normal and they said to give it a day or so that they had increased the power of the laser and that could be why it's so painful. It just didn't seem normal. I had gone to the hospital and they said I had been burned by the laser and that the laser was placed to close to my skin. They had given me cream to place the area told me to be sure to keep it wrapped so no infection set in.

I followed up with Monarch and went in for them to check out the area. They apologized and told me that the girl who gave me my treatment did in fact place the laser too close to my skin. They also placed some pretty expensive burn cream on my leg to help with scarring. Once the blisters started to come off I was left with an area of raw meat. I went to see a burn doctor who had giving me a special burn wrap to wear on my leg to help with scarring. Needless to say after all that I still have some of the tattoo there and scarring on my leg. I would have thought for sure that with the way my leg was burned that the tattoo would be completely gone.

My god the entire area was a slab of raw meat. It was absolutely horrible and I have a ton of pictures to show. Words do no justice. If I could find a way to post my pictures of my leg then everyone could see what I was talking about and went through. I paid thousands of dollars to Monarch to have my tattoo removed and trusted that they would take care of me. They didn't even offer to refund any of my money. How heartless is that?!

I'm sorry but I will never give them a good referral and in fact when someone mentions possible going to Monarch I tell them all about my experience and then show them my pictures. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Also, if anyone knows how I can post my pictures please let me know. I would love to place them on here so everyone can see what I'm talking about.

Do Not Go Here

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I went to Monarch Med Spa for spider vein removal from November 2006- April 2007. It is a 3 treatment process with 8 weeks in between each treatment. The first session was great. The nurse took her time explaining the procedure to me. She was very thorough when performing the actual treatment (about 45 minutes time). I did not see results right away, which is typical, but was looking forward to the results after everything was done and over with. My second treatment was terrible. I had a different nurse (even though I requested the same from my first appointment).

She treated me as if I was interrupting her personal time and it was a hassle for me to be there. She missed spots (I kept pointing this out to her) and kept having issues with calibrating the laser. The treatment lasted about 10 minutes. Again I went home, waited a few days and saw absolutely no change. With only one treatment to go and $1000 in the hole, I was determined to make this work. Before my 3rd and final session started, I complained about how I was treated the second time around. They seemed unhappy seeing me unhappy (or so I thought). I had a new nurse come in and perform the final procedure.

She took her time and went over the same problem areas about 2-3 times (which I have now learned is not correct). My legs were red and sore when I left. I thought it was a reaction from receiving a very strong treatment. By dinner time, I couldn't walk and my feet and ankles were swollen. I called the Med-Spa and they told me to put my feet up. The next morning I woke up and my legs were covered in huge blisters and a heat rash. Everything was painful, from taking a shower to getting dressed. When my feet were not elevated, they throbbed. I called again and they told me to come in.

I saw a doctor and the nurse that did the shoddy job my second time around. Their response was "we have never seen this before" and "can we take some pictures?". They took several photographs of my legs in their horrible looking state... which I thought was strange since I asked to see before and after photos of previous patients prior to my treatment and they responded with "No. That would violate HIPPPA policies". In the long run, I had to use some sort of ointment that they gave me for around 5 weeks.

The blisters and the rash did not heal for three months (and it was summer time) and the itching was positively unbearable. I was lucky enough to not have any scarring. If your going to get this done, go to a dermatologist that actually knows what their doing. Please learn from my mistake.

Dishonest sales practices

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Subject: Refusal to Refund for Pre-paid services, that were not used. The Advertisement was to get laser tattoo removal 50% off, so I purchased 10 sessions @ 125.00 each paid in CASH. Total $1250.00. I received 6 treatment's. I asked for a refund for the other 4 sessions @ $125.00 per session, because I do not require further treatment. I was told I could get a refund at the time of my purchase if I did not need all 10. I was then told after requesting a refund, that since I purchased a "package deal", "unknown by me" I would have to pay more for the individual treatments and therefore a refund would not be issued.

After I argued that excuse, then, I was told that a credit for another service, I received, (for which I also paid $585.00 CASH), would be deducted from the refund. I offered to send my receipt for this additional service they claim I did not pay for, and they declined. The next response I received was that they checked there "books", and could not locate a receipt for the additional service, that I claimed I pad CASH for, and therefore, if their books do not indicate the CASH purchase "their books are correct", and I somehow forget handing someone $585.00.

The sales rep also stated she e-mailed me a explanation that broke down everything to me, I asked her to re-send it several times and still have not received it to date. E-mail is a beautiful thing I have them all, and I will pursue this at any cost, there is now &500.00 owed to me. It is a matter of principle at this point. They should be ashamed of themselves, and they should have handled the situation in a professional manner. Perhaps an audit is in order for the CASH purchases they received from consumers such as myself, as they neglect to have record of such? I surely keep all of my records in proper order.

Company Response 08/19/2009:

Paula C.
I have read your review of Sona Medspa and I wanted to respond to your frustrations. Sona Medspa in Grapevine does NOT do Laser Tattoo Removal and they never have. Again, I apologize for your frustrations just know that we do not provide that procedure, so you may have your companies mixed up.

Do not go here for breast enhancements

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- My wife had her procedure in the summer of 2011. After mothering 4 children she was quite depleted up front and wanted this for herself. She used a Dr. through Monarch Med Spa near King of Prussia and they supposedly went over all the possible complications and results and she was forced to sign a form saying she can't give any bad feedback about her experience. Well I didn't sign anything and people need to know what can go wrong. She chose silicone implants.

The doc prefers to go in just under the nipple, not under the breast, which my wife preferred but wasn't told at all about the complication that followed. The scar under the nipple can somehow grow and attach the whole way into the implant area so that when her muscles tense at all her nipple bottom pulls/sucks in like an invisible finger is poking the tissue. Not right. The forewarned "encapsulation" of tissue around the implant did happen and causes the area to be harder than desired and didn't allow the implant to lower as it was supposed to. This causes the nipple to be lower and not appear quite right.

We did all the physical therapy we were instructed to do. Guys, you have to help and this isn't fun or sexy at all pushing and pressing hard in certain ways as the tissue heals to help prevent scar tissue build up and proper setting. It was quite a turn off to have to man handle the new breasts and cause my wife much pain and discomfort, several times daily.

We went back with complaints and the doc went in for a little outpatient surgery the next week to try to clean up the scar tissue that pulls the nipple in. The office did this free of charge to try to get us to be satisfied customers. I took off work to take her for the procedure where he made another incision under the original and pulled out much scar strand and cut off. Weeks later the nipple still inverts, pulls in with muscle contraction only slightly less and now can you not only feel the original scar (like a thin shoelace stuck under the flat scar) but now there are two.

He says this is super rare to happen and he's only ever had this happen once or twice ever depending on how different bodies heal. I don't feel this way at all. I feel for $8000 there should be no complaints or flaws. I feel he didn't do something right and am sure they did not go over this possible complication.

Illegal Employees

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- This company has a company to make sure these comment's don't get posted!!

The owners never let you know who they are. They make sure they're sales people deal with you.

The owners hire the most unprofessional, but friendly employees, but they are not certified in operating assistance. The girls are hair dressers LPN's and NOT RN's. It is illegal to have a nonsurgical certified hair dresser to help during surgical procedures. They need to be certified /pass their boards to assist anyone in the operating room.

People need to be board certified in OR /surgical clinician. That is not the case at Monarch medspa.

Also, although the Dr. that does liposuction not great, good only. He is advertised as an M. D., when he is an osteopath. Nothing wrong with that, but false. Why??

Monarch medspa falsely goes into your private credit scores which is illegal.

Only advice, skip them or call last day of month to get best price. Better yet..go elsewhere! They lie, don't have authentic professional employees and have a 99% turnover employment rate!! That says alone a problem. They are liars, greedy and so into ripping people off. Soma was their other name. They had to change it to Monarch to get better business. Sound reputable? NO!

My name is not able to be published, but I worked there for 2 years, filled in as a laser person when the office was understaffed. and trust me, they are disgusting to all their employees and clients. They make you sign contracts to cover their backsides.

They live large, no lunch for they're workers or your phone gets turned off and a 45 hour work week without a lunchbreak.

Their lasers suck, they have a nurse (who knows if she is even an RN ) that injects botox and filler to only 2 areas that she feels comfortable with. Most nurses inject everywhere. She is cheap and also unexperienced, but some clients don't know any better.

I am done with their threats and want the public o know a ripoff spa. Don't go there.

O, and they false advertise. Liars and wreck your credit without you knowing
scared of them gave a false name but the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't Go To Monarch Med Spa

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Monarch med spa is the worst service. I went in for a consult and was getting my knee area don't and inner thighs. Never had a problem with my upper back legs or area below buttocks but dr said I need fat taken out of my what they called bananas. She said she would give me a better deal, yes that she did. I paid $8000.

I explained to her I like the look of my buttocks and I don't think its bad but she insisted I needed some help so her being the expert I listened. I get the surgery go back for my 6 week check and expressed to her that I was not happy with the lump of skin bellow my buttocks. They tell me it will go away it's swollen. I believe them. I wait 2 months it's still there.

I go back with the same complaint and the nurse tells me the dr who did my surgery is no longer there and then they tell me she took out too much and the only thing that can be done is to go in and redo it and it won't guarantee correction. The only guarantee correction would be to surgically remove the skin which will scar for life. Well I lost my life. Then they said they would redo it for free if I would pay for another area to be done, like my abs. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I said "let me understand this, you mess up and you want me to get another area done at a place that messed up." I couldn't believe it. So I had to pay every month for their mistake.

I had to pay the credit off. Now thanked paid off I have to pay another plastic surgeon to remove the skin and cause scarring for life. Now keep in mind I wouldn't be getting it done if it wasn't so noticeable through jeans and tights. And by the way I couldn't do a thing because they kept telling me it will go down, it was swollen and by the time I realized it wasn't swollen and it wasn't going down the statue was done.

So need I say they knew what they were doing as far as running the state out and I couldn't bring a suit on them. But any good business would have wanted to fix the situation. Need I say anymore. Whatever you do don't use Monarch med spa. They don't know what they're doing.

Money Hungry Sales People

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- If you are going to pay money to treat yourself to a cosmetic procedure, you should enjoy the experience and feel that the people you are getting your treatment from are looking out for your best interest. Therefore, do not go to Monarch Med Spa. They are money hungry scam artists. They will no do what they say they will do. And, if you really have an emergency and cannot make an appointment... prepare to pay $75. Even in your emergency landed you in the ER.

Technicians: some are very unfriendly and when your having a procedure like laser hair removal, why should you feel uncomfortable? Staff: lack of professionalism, unkind, and enjoy fighting with the customers. Client: victim of poor customer service and poorer

Smart Lipo
By -

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I had my procedures done on August 15th 2008 and August 26 2008. I had smart lipo with vaser done on my upper and lower abs, bra fat area, upper back, arms, and arm pit area. First of all, I am STILL wearing a garment on my stomach. This is true liposuction. Don't be fooled by the advertisement of being non-invasive. It is very invasive. I couldn't move hardly for up to a week after my surgery. Using my stomach to lift myself out of bed was out of the question. Raising my arms to put on shirts was a tedious and painful process. Even weeks and weeks later, I was not able to lift my arms straight up or do any kind of rigorous exercise using my stomach muscles.

The appearance of my stomach is lumpy till this day! I did lose fat, but after 12000 dollars, it was not worth the poor results I received. Hardly any fat was removed from my back and arms. Therefore, there has been no change in their appearance. Other than that I have scars all over this size of cigarette burns in my skin!!! I don't recommend this surgery at all. It only seems to be effective on the lower chin from the observations I have made of others as well.

It is a very long healing process. The side of my stomach still feel weird four months later and all my fat is not gone. I could handle the money, pain, and scars if there were reasonable results... This procedure was unsatisfactory and I am an "ideal" candidate - 30 years old, healthy, and 10-15 pounds overweight.

Only in it for the money

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I purchased treatments from Monarch Med-Spa for which I had to wait 2 months an appointment. The day of my appointment it snowed several inches, the roads were icy and there were many accidents. I live almost 30 miles from Monarch and drive a car which is not good in the snow. I contacted Monarch to reschedule but was informed I would be charged $75 for cancelling, regardless of the weather. They quoted their 24-hr cancellation policy which does not include any flexibility for actual emergencies, weather-related or otherwise.

They fully expect clients to drive from where ever they may be coming from and risk getting into an accident or worse just to come in for a cosmetic appointment. Several times in the past two years they have cancelled my appointments within a few hours of the appointment time due to their scheduling conflicts, but did not compensate me for the inconvenience they caused or the lack of 24-hours notice they gave me. They do not seem to care about their clients; only about the money they can get from them. I have already spent several thousand dollars on treatments but Monarch does not seem interested in keeping customers or treating them fairly.

They will now lose quite a bit of money from other treatments I was going to schedule as well as referrals I will not give out. Their lack of customer service and poor treatment of clients shows just how little they care about their clients, but they would rather charge $75 than keep a long-time client.
