Horrible Treatment at This Motel 6

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA -- Sadly me and Motel 6 may be breaking up after the terrible ordeal I just had last night at Motel 6 at 1738 North Whitley Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA 90028. And yes I have had what I considered a long term relationship with Motel 6. They were my choice hotel for years especially because I often travel with my beloved pooch. Right now I type this on my tablet at a LA Quinta Inn that helped me out last night because I was treated so terribly at Motel 6. I just left finally and have traveled all the way from phoenix Arizona and was tired, exhausted and lost.

I guess the employee who was at the front desk named ** made it a point to me that I had made a huge mistake calling the customer experience number and complaining to them about my bad check in experience that he had overheard me in the lobby. I guess the lesson learned here is equal to that lesson of not returning food if there is something wrong with it or it will come back spit on?

Motel 6 employee made sure to spit on my hotel stay experience enough that when I saw a roach crawl out of my air conditioner that was final straw (normally I would have just killed it & not worried about it) but not before I was talked to rudely again when I even tried to ask since I would no longer be staying could I get my money back. And yes I did tell them about the roach and was called a liar.

I contacted corporate who assured me they would settle all this and emailed me a response letter with a report number > I hope they are indeed going to take care of this like they promised and refund me my money. If not I will definitely be disputing this with my credit card company, have the charge removed and never stay at a Motel 6 again :(

Unhygienic Room Poor Customer Service

TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA -- I recently stayed at the Tuscaloosa, AL location and was appalled by the poor hygienic conditions and deplorable condition of my room. The toilet had not been cleaned (still had fecal stains on the seat as well as the bowl), linen on one of the beds was not changed from the previous occupant (hair was still on the pillow linen as well as tell-tale creases on the fitted sheet and crumbs of an unknown nature), the shower did not have hot water and the handle required an associate's degree in maintenance to get the tepid water that was present).

The floors seemed as if they hadn't been cleaned in ages (my flip flops stuck to the floor and my white socks are now ruined and brown), and the television had more "snow" than picture. I was completely uncomfortable in this room and had I had a choice to pack up and leave I would have if other hotels were not completely sold out. The cleanliness of the room was beyond neglectful and certainly not what I paid for at your exorbitant rate of 3 times your normal rate.

In addition, I am deeply appalled at the way I have been treated by management and the customer service department. I was reimbursed 25% of my stay by the hotel franchise and was told that the location manager would contact me for further discussion. Through numerous attempts by the franchise and my own attempt to call the location for over a week, I am repeatedly told that the manager "just stepped out a minute ago". I have yet to speak to anyone from the location.

To add insult to injury, I was just hung-up on by a senior agent when voicing the disrespect I have received by the location as well as the area management. I was not loud, rude, or disrespectful at any point during the conversation and most disappointed - to say the least, that I have been treated as such from a "supervisor" of a national company. Truly stellar in making the customer feel appreciated. I will not give this location or the franchise any rating at all because they are not worthy of any person's hard-earned money. A traveler will be better suited in a city gutter than the conditions I was exposed to and the poor treatment I have received from the company.

Worst Motel of My Life

KALISPELL, MONTANTA -- My wife and I stayed at Motel 6 #290 in Kalispell MT on July 17. Our experience was so awful, I'm not sure where to begin! We checked in, were given room 221 and hauled in our luggage. Upon opening the door to our "non smoking" room, we were immediately slammed by the strong smell of stale tobacco smoke. I called the front desk and got a busy signal, over and over for 30 minutes. When I finally got through, the desk clerk (**) said he didn't have any other rooms, but would send someone up with some air freshener. He called back about 5 minutes later and said he did have a room (223) and would bring us keys.

We hadn't unpacked yet, and by now had discovered that the A/C unit made a lot more noise than cool. We waited 20 minutes and no one came. I called the front desk again, and ** swore (and I mean SWORE) he didn't say he was bringing me keys, and that he had to stay at the front desk, and "If I wanted the ** keys I should come get them." Room 223 smelled good and the A/C worked. However, the room had NOT been made up. The beds had been slept in, the towels were used, and the sink had toothpaste and other debris in it. My wife went to the front desk to get sheets and towels. They had everything except bath towels.

On the way back to our room, we ran into another guest who asked, "Where did you get the sheets?" Apparently she had been there for 3 days and her sheets had not been changed. Her room also had bed bugs and she had the bites to prove it! At least we weren't paying $140 per night like her! We stripped down the beds, checked for bugs and remade them figuring the worst was over. Fat chance! An hour later we discovered that the toilet was clogged. I flushed it dozens of times. Each time it took the bowl about a minute to drain. Nothing would break it loose. I even filled up the waste basket and "bucket flushed" it 6 times to no avail.

By now we're tired, dejected, and just needed some sleep. We drove 665 miles and 11 hours to get to Kalispell. We decided a hot shower and an early retirement would hit the spot. Sadly, on full hot, the shower wasn't even lukewarm. We got clean, but not refreshed. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else.

PISCATAWAY, NEW JERSEY -- We are a party of 5 and booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Today (Saturday), 10/25/2014, we left early to go sightseeing in NY. We arrived back tired at 5 pm to find that our rooms were not cleaned. I spoke to the clerk at the front desk and asked her why the room was not cleaned. She advised that they had problems with their machines and they had sorted it out. She told me that my room was being cleaned now. She did not have a clue as to what was going on. I told her that the maid had gone to the end of the building to start, that we were already here and that our room should be cleaned. She was abrupt, rude.

I also became annoyed and told her that we had paid upfront for three nights, that we expected service we had paid for. Their prices are NOT cheap. I mentioned this to her. She said I could take my money and go somewhere else. I told her that I was going to give the motel a review on different sites. She said she did not care and that I could whatever I wished.

It's not as if the motel is of a high standard. There is no security for their cars and a sign is posted outside. It is next to a pub which blares music loud. The motel has lots of people doing all sorts of things here, with visitors to occupants taking up most of their parking. Guests are left without parking. Yet, towards the middle of the night, the parking suddenly starts getting empty. I would never, ever stay at this motel again. Their service stinks and they have an attitude making you feel that they are doing you a favor to house you.

CAMARILLO, CALIFORNIA -- I checked in on July 19th and was awakened at 2:30 a.m. by a screaming couple. When I called the front desk, ** told me "It's probably a little bit of humping going on." What a thing to say to a female guest. So he called back a few minutes later and told me the couple upstairs left. Then a while later they started screaming at each other again. I called the desk repeatedly and could get no answer. I got dressed and walked down to the office to find it locked and no one around. I called reservations and was told they could do nothing. I called the police and they got them to stop only to have them start 20 minutes later.

By 4 o'clock in the morning the police were back. I checked around 6:30 a.m. and John told me he had seven complaints on this couple and they would be not allowed back when their 3 days were up. I asked why they weren't told to leave already and he had no answer. I think the answer is Motel 6 doesn't want to loose any money, will leave the light on but you won't always get a good night sleep and you won't get a refund.

ATTALLA, ALABAMA -- 5pm, prime time for serving incoming customers, but door was locked, so I rang the bell and the desk guy had to come out of the back and find the door key. Couldn't find my reservation or get his check-in equipment working, so he filled out a form by hand. Gave me room 124.

Door opened with difficulty, but we got in. No wifi password was given, so we tried to call the office - no answer. Planned to walk across the parking lot to the office to ring the bell again, but couldn't get out the door - lock wouldn't open. Called the front desk again (multiple times on room phone and cell phone), no answer. Finally called Motel 6 Corporate Customer Service - she called the office for me and got someone claiming there was no one in our room. Back and forth ensued, could not convince her that she was CALLING THE WRONG MOTEL 6!

My wife got someone's attention through the window, and got her to get the office guy. He called over Larry, Moe and Curly to work on the door, but no luck. They finally gave up. After 90 minutes, I finally managed to ruin my good knife jimmying the latch until it opened.

Got put in another room, and got a refund in cash.

Left around 7:15 the next morning, no coffee in the office. Save your money and sanity - you'll do better sleeping on the side of the road.

BUENA PARK -- I stood for 3 days. The first night I walked in the room was dirty, the bathroom had stains all over the floor, the lights did not work. There was cigarette burns in the blankets. I asked him to redo the bed in to clean the restroom. I asked him to fix the light. They said they would. I've stood there for 3 days and I maybe got my room cleaned one time. I asked the maid to clean my room. They didn't show up till 6 p.m.

I definitely would not recommend you spending your hard-earned money to this Motel 6 in Buena Park. The staff is unprofessional. They don't know their own address. The maids do not know how to clean oh and they have bugs cockroaches in the shower. Do not stay here. Worst motel in Buena Park. If I had to recommend a motel to everyone out there it would be the Days Inn in Buena Park. Have a good night. God bless.

MOBILE 6 -- Keep in mind, this is a Pet Friendly budget motel off I-10 exit 15B, a pit stop with numerous restaurants, fast food, and budget gas stations. The motel was previously another budget motel; recently converted to a Motel 6 and upgraded. The exterior presents an excellent, welcoming, appearance; lots of easy parking. All exterior and interior locks are new, plenty of exterior lighting. The room was very large, clean, and the king size bed had a new comfy mattress. The bathroom was clean, new sink and fixture. The air conditioner was new, quiet, and blew very cold. The flooring was new laminate; no carpet, very Pet Friendly.

Overall, this Motel 6 is a very good budget motel value. Keep in mind, it's a Pet Friendly, no extra charge for pets, convenient to I-10 Exit 15B budget motel. We have been all overall the US and lodged at lots and lots of budget motels with our pets. For example, one Drive was 9 weeks over 16,000 miles FL to Alaska. We have seen lots of budget motels.

CORSICANA, TEXAS -- We stayed there for a week and went to redo our hotel keycard, they had never met my boyfriend who went in to redo the keys... I was the one who rented the room. Anyways, my bf asked for a key to 234 and with no question, gave him 2 keys. I complained to corporate next day about the security issue and the manager told us the next day to leave and took our cc and charged us for the week anyway. They are trashy anyway... our floors were black when we got there, had to wear socks all the time. NASTY NASTY NASTY AND UNSAFE.

WARWICK RI, RHODE ISLAND -- My cousin and I arrived to the motel that was Chosen by her boyfriend since he was taking a plane from Chicago to Rhode Island. We all got together just to suffer a dump load of a 1 star motel. I was assuming it would be maybe a 5 or at least a 4 star motel.

Now getting to the subject. We now realize that nothing is provided or even decorated done. One little soap and only three of us at the motel. One small towel that does not cover the entire body, 2 rags and not even 3 or more. No small Refrigerator at least, not even a microwave provided. We have to sit here and go all the way to the lobby just to heat our food and walk back to our rooms with a half cold food.

Come on Motel 6. And then you have beds with burn holes in the blankets and the sheets too and everything on the bed smells like cigarettes. You have absolutely no damn pride to even be responsible of your own Job to even save the day and help us all with our issues. You guys have only 1 WiFi router box out of all the motels. Please fix your dysfunctional motel. May God pray for you.
