181ST AND STARK PORTLAND, OREGON -- I made an online reservation which was for a room with two double bed's. I received an email confirming my reservation. when my two Kid's and I showed up to check in I was told they didn't have an online reservation from me. I showed the lady behind the after hours widow my email which she wouldn't even look at. I was then told there was one room available with one double bed so I took the room. when my two children and I opened the door the room smelled bad. there was supposed to be a microwave which there wasn't one, the fridge had an open jar of mayonnaise and mustard, the bathroom door had graffiti on the inside bathroom door, and one of the other rooms had a broken window and wasn't boarded up or anything. needless to say I don't recommend this motel to anyone

Value for Money???

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS -- My husband and I relocated to Corpus Christi due to his work. We unfortunately got stuck with staying in this place (845 Lantana Street) It was the only available room here that we could afford over $350 for just one week. It is so over priced but lets face it the whole of Corpus is over priced.

The room is so out of date, internet is not even free, it smells and to top it all the room had a shower and NO bath and the toilet seat didn't even have a lid on it, which to me is disgusting (but I know this seems to be standard in Motel 6's). The reception area looks ok though funnily enough!! I am just mad because of what it cost us and we have stayed in several motels around Texas and for a 'corporate' motel this really has to be the worst.

Don't they have standards that they have to keep to? Who charges for the internet now a days they really need to address that. I do understand this is supposed to be a budget chain, but budget does not mean dirty over used and broken. The only redeeming feature this place has for me is their pet policy which is why we had such a limited choice when we were shopping around. So if you can afford it, its worth paying a little more for clean and updated accommodation so go elsewhere!! Given the choice I would in a heart beat!!

They Screwed Up My Reservation and Could Care Less
Posted by Nadorp on 07/07/2013
1153 HARRISBURG PIKE, CARLISLE, PENNSYLVANIA -- I have stayed in this hotel for the past 10 years for the Ford Nationals at Carlisle, Pa. They were supposed to send me my reservation deposit info around April 2013. That never happened. They called me the day I left for Carlisle first week in June. Said they were confirming my reservation. I called them back later that day to change my reservation to 1 night. They said, ok see you then.

When I got to the hotel, the girl behind the counter said she didn't have a reservation for me. Then the night manager came out and said they gave my reservation away because I showed up a few minutes after 6pm and they were only holding my room as a courtesy until 6pm. There was another couple at the counter at this time leaving because they were given a smoking room they didn't want. The girl told me the hotel was totally booked, and my response was, how is that possible if you were supposedly holding a room for me until 6pm and it now is a little past 6pm? Then the girl said I could have this room that the couple were leaving from. I didn't want a smoking room either.

The night manager could care less about all this and acted like a jerk. I had to literally tell this guy to "shut up" just to state my case. I told him how he dropped the ball and now I'm suffering the consequences. He claimed to be the one who sent out the reservation forms in April, which I never got. Now you don't have a room for me- Oh well. He could care less. Acted like I was a joke and just wanted me to go away. I told him after staying there the last 10 years, I would be staying somewhere else from now on. Fine with him. He didn't care. I don't like the way I was treated and want others to know how uncaring the management is. Avoid this place unless you like being treated like crap.

They Will Kick You Out for Someone With a Reservation
Posted by Rtweed49 on 07/06/2013
N. CANTON,OH., OHIO -- I had stayed several nights in this smoke scented holes in blankets and bugs in the carpet fine establishment. I was paying daily (cash) and on the 8th day when I tried to pay for another night they said I couldn't because someone had reserved my room. I don't think my room should be up for grabs until I check out but it's all about their bottom line and not common sense. I was not loud or drinking in my room. I paid every day before check out time.

My truck was in the dealership for repairs so I had to call them every day to see if they were done. So there I am with no room and no truck (nice). Someone with 2,3 or 4 people were probably going to bring in more $ then lil ol me. It's all about the bottom line. Not about being a real person, not about common sense. Oh by the way I really enjoyed the 19 inch tube t v. Right out of 1985. You get what you pay for!

Apparently the motel was booked out, and your room had been reserved by another. If they had a room, they would have offered it.
Posted by FoDaddy19 on 2013-07-06:
I don't see a problem, the folks had a reservation and likely paid well in advance. They likely paid for the room well before you even showed up. Your situation is unfortunate, but Motel 6 did what they were obligated to and supposed to do.

It is an industry wide practice to honor confirmed reservations.
Posted by Will on 2013-12-04:
If you were paying daily then I bet you didn't have the room reserved. If you had reserved the room for a week or however long you needed then that wouldnt have happened. Cant blame the hotel for not being mind readers. It was your own fault.

Very Clean, Very Cheap, Great Experience.
Posted by Lclifford1 on 06/25/2013
I stayed at the Motel 6 in Emporia, KS, for 3 nights, June 20 to 22, 2013.
The room was very clean, the bathroom was spotless, the room included a microwave and refigerator, the staff was very nice, and all for $27 per night plus tax.
It was a great experience and my friends who thought I would have a problems because it is so cheap were completely wrong.

Highly recommend this motel.

Nice to know that Motel 6 has at least one decent property in the chain.

Worst Hotel Experience Yet!
Posted by Fdonaldson1989 on 06/23/2013
WEST MONROE, LOUISIANA -- I stayed in the Motel 6 last night in West Monroe, La and it was by far the worst experience I have ever had staying at a hotel. The bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever tried to sleep on. My back was in so much pain that I didn't sleep but maybe two hours all together and couldn't stand up straight when I finally got up. It was so bad that I will have to be visiting my chiropractor come Monday. And the bed was just one of the problem.

The television only got about 16 channels and the screen was going out on it. It had lines through it and no movie channels as the advertised on the website. Also the wifi that they advertised was a joke as well. It would not let me, nor my guest, connect to it. Once again, it was the worst experience that I have ever had and would not advise anyone to waste their time, nor their money, on such a horrible hotel experience. I know I will not go back ever again.

The big question here is did you go to Duck Commander and meet Uncle Si ?
Posted by trmn8r on 2013-06-23:
My stay at a Motel 6 was also the worst I have had anywhere. That was back around 1989, and I won't be returning. They can burn the light for the next 30 years, and I'll drive right by.

New management( Very good move on the owners part) New housekeeping staff. Wow what a difference. Yes the rooms are in need of a make over but they are clean the staff is VERY helpful. They treat you like family. I really enjoyed my stay!!! I will be back this summer... Thank you Motel 6 Horseheads NY

Bed Bugs, Broken Sink, Cold Water
Posted by Ylisa on 05/28/2013
proof of bed bugs
proof of bed bugs
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA -- I was in Oklahoma on 05/21/2013, and I checked into Motel 6 at 12:30 am on 05/22/2013. I opened my suitcase, put on my pajamas, and left my suitcase open on the bed with me and went to sleep. I woke up feeling awful. I turned the shower on, but it was taking forever for the water to get hot. I turned the bathroom sink on, and it too was taking forever to get hot. I went to my suitcase to get the clothes that I was going to wear that day, as I left the water running in the sink and in the shower. I heard the water splashing on the floor. I went to turn the water off, because there wasn't a pipe under the sink to catch the water. Keep in mind I'm naked. I grabbed some clothes to put on and went to the office to ask for another room. They did not have one available at the time, and so they asked me to come back. In the meantime, all of my items are in the room. I returned to the motel to get a key to the new room, and asked if they moved my items for me ( 2 suitcases and a laptop). They said no, but here is a new key and you can move it yourself. Somehow, the original room (228) would not accept the key to get in.

It's 5 AM and I am walking back and forth from the motel lobby to this room, each time explaining to the employee, that the key is not working. I advised I had to get my items out asap. I had to be in court with Mike [snip] at 8:30 AM. They could only say we are sorry, but we cannot get the door open. They gave me a key to a new room (122), and I asked why. If all of my stuff was locked in room 228, what good would it do me to have a key to room 122. They finally opened the door to room 228 at 8:37 AM. Of. course this was too late, no shower, no make up. I changed clothes, and went straight to court. In the meantime, I'm itching like crazy. I assumed it was because I did not take a shower, but the itching was intense, like something was on me. Come to find out, I have numerous bites all over my body. The room was infested with bed bugs. I had to drive back to Nashville, TN with a hair brush scratching the whole way. I ended up going to the hospital to get medication to cure this mess. I ended up staying in the house the whole holiday weekend. I missed out on my holiday pay at my job, and I was supposed to be on a boat a Percy Priest Dam with some friends.

I am still stuck in the house, because the dr. at the hospital could not determine if I only had bed bugs, and not scabies. To end this long dramatic incident. I had to throw away both suit cases, to prevent from bringing these bugs into my home. I want to be compensated for this mess.

Now that you know where the courthouse is, file a small claims action for the max. Detail out every item, doctor, room, suit cases, clothes, everything. Make them miserable, just like they did to you.

Motel 6 is the bottom of the bottom in the lodging industry. Just more proof of it here.

I stayed at Motel 6 once. Once. Never again. It wasn't as bad as your stay, however - my Motel 6 had call girls.

Incredibly Disgusting
Posted by Jmkrief on 05/27/2013
NORTH POOLER - SAVANAH - GA, GEORGIA -- I recently stayed with my wife at Motel 6 and need to report how disgusting the place was:

1- The front desk clerk was involved in a deep conversation with 2 drunken and loud smoking friends and barely paid attention to us during checking in (it was around 11PM).

2- The room was filthy, with large stains on the carpet (room 114).

3- The bed was made like my four year old would, by hurriedly changing the sheets without paying any attention how it will look once the bed cover is open: sheets not tucked under the mattress, pillows thrown on the bed. Basically needed redoing.

4- The bathroom was filthy with no shampoo (for travellers?!) - a wet small bar of soap was available near the sink.

5 - Mold at the base of the tub - Hair in the tub - Tub emptying very slowly, obviously plugged from past users hair etc. Toilet bowl dirty - Old toilet paper roll 3/4 used.

I will stop here as I don't want to remember about the noise and screaming going on near the front desk. Using this hotel while waiting for our flight, there was no time to escape this hellish place.

Overall a truly disgusting experience. I tried to find an email for customer service or the email of the new President Jim Amorosia without success - He is hiding behind a corporate veil while writing to the media how great his hotels are.

Conclusion:
Sleep on the beach or find a park bench but stay away from Motel 6 - Welcome to a remake of Dusk to Dawn.

Worst Motel We Have Stayed In
Posted by Bobsuefisher on 05/02/2013
There was no shampoo, or hair dryer. Maid walked in without knocking with the shower curtain. Would never stay in a Motel 6 again, car would be better and cleaner.
