Net Zero Is A Fraud
Posted by D65GTO on 07/16/2012
Absolute guarantee that this product would work at my location. We have 100% coverage in your zip code and you will be very happy with your connection and service.

Of course, no connection, no service and I’m out $28.00 For shipping and “handling” both directions. Don’t walk, run away from these people as fast as you can

Fraud !!!

I believe this may be their new product, launched only a few months ago (NetZero has been traditionally dial-up).

What was their explanation of the problem that you had trying to get it to work? If there in fact was not coverage in your area, it would have been nice for them to cover the shipping.

I thought OP meant Net10 since he mentioned wireless service.

Over Billing & Double Billing
Posted by Imdreamweaver on 09/16/2008
OHIO -- Juno was double charging me for 3 months and then had the nerve to turn my account over to their in-house collection agency when I discontinued service.

Then you call this toll free number to explain it to them and all you get is a voice recording and it's only setup to take payments and there is no live person. This recording then tells you if you need further assistance send a letter to them:) What a joke.

Need info about Netzero. Good and bad.

Had a falling out with Comcast a while back so I decided to try Netzero dial up service for now. What I was trying to find out was how much longer does it take to download music for instance? What is streaming music or watching a video like? Sound quality? Thanks.

Sorry zzrok, I don't know anyone using netzero. I'm still a comcast customer. Why did you drop comcast?

A billing dispute. I may go back with them eventually. Qwest and the others don't have cable tv service in my area.

A billing dispute as in you didn't pay your bill and were cancelled?
Posted by Anonymous on 2006-04-21:
Wrong.

Going from "high-speed" back to dialup is like going back to the stone-age. I doubt you're gonna have much luck/quality with streaming video. My advice, find a way to at least get DSL if it's available in your apartment. (tr)

zz, I use Juno which is the same as Netzero. The accelerators used on these dial-up services are for pictures and don't help while downloading music or videos. So forget the High-Speed ads for Netzero, Juno, Netscape etc., as far as downloads go. Those programs work great for surfing the web though. With a 56k modem and the accelerator you can surf at decent speeds but the pics load as low resolution. If you want to see the pic at full res, you just right-click and it gives you that option. You can get Juno pretty cheap right now. Their mail is pretty good too. There are a couple of small companies out there too that are cheap and do a good job. Toast.net and Copper.net. I downloaded one of the star wars videos from ebaum's world today. It was one minute, 48 seconds long. It took 15 minutes or so to download. Maybe longer, didn't pay close attention.

Good post Sheriff, I'm curious, have you experimented with any of the software out there that supposedly increase your speed and throughput? I was not impressed back when I was on dialup.
Posted by viperpa33s on 2006-04-21:
PiratewithParrot: There is no program that can increase your speed. I tried them when I had dial up thinking the same thing and my speed did not increase. It's to get people to believe that. All the programs do is change some of your Windows settings, that's about all.

I like most be who have had dial up then went to dsl, would never go back. I've heard though that net zero is good for dial up, but I don't believe any of the dial ups would be fast enough for downloading, because your only at 56 mb.

You'd be correct tander girl. I've been told that the single most important thing you can do to speed up your computer is to increase your RAM. Any thoughts from anyone about this? Thanks.
Posted by Anonymous on 2006-04-21:
RAM will increase your computer's performance, not your connect speed.
Posted by tander on 2006-04-21:
I agree increase your ram and it will speed up your computer, you can buy a computer with quite a bit of RAM, my lap top runs at 512mb, my desktop is faster than that, put it on a dsl server and you really cruise. It also helps to clean your cache files, and TMP files, history and etc. Also it's a good idea to have a good virus scanner and a program that gets rid of ad ware, all those factors can considerably slow your computer down.

At one time, NetZero was actually "free," it had banner ads, etc., and a limited subscription per month. Back in the day when I was on dialup, it was reliable enough.
Posted by viperpa33s on 2006-04-21:
If you currently run Windows XP, the minimum RAM is 256mb. Since XP is a RAM hog and if your going to be running heavy system applications then you should at least have 512mb to 1gig of RAM.

Thank you all for your replies. That 15 minutes of download time sounds awful. "Hello Qwest or Comcast"....
Posted by Anonymous on 2006-04-25:
You'd better seek more part-time hrs at McDs, fast connect isn't cheap. (tr)

Maybe you should let the students use the computer that you troll on daily...Janitor. (TIR)

There are no "students" here, the only one being "schooled" is you. *HR leaps to her feet, does the do-si-do with the fat guy from accounting, then they both thumb their noses at zork*

"No students there?" Of course not, school's out for the day out your way. Get that gymnasium floor buffed, janitor! *water fountains*
Posted by Anonymous on 2006-04-27:
I'm no janitor, but I'd mop the floor with you! *streams*
