Nobody wants a lemon even Nissan

VALDOSTA, GEORGIA -- I purchased a 2007 Nissan 350Z in March. I was very impressed with the car for the first 1,000 miles especially since I traded my 04 350Z for this one. I have always been a big Nissan fan and have purchased three cars from them to show my loyalty. This is no more!!!! I started having problems with the clutch pedal 2 weeks after I got the car. The pedal started losing pressure one morning and by the end of the day almost all pressure was gone and the ability to put the car in gear diminished. I made it to Griner Nissan in Valdosta GA, where they attempted to bleed the clutch system which was not working so they ordered a master cylinder and replaced it which took 6 days. I got the car back and everything seemed fine until I drove home from work the next day and found myself coasting into the garage at 2 in the morning because the pedal pressure went out again. This time Nissan tells me "well if it is not the master cylinder it must me the slave cylinder" which was re-designed in 06 as an internal slave within the transmission.(smart move Nissan). The part was back-ordered and they did not know when the part would be in. After 2 weeks of waiting for this part I called Nissan consumer affairs which I might add is completely worthless. I talked to several people on the phone and they were complete robots with no intelligence. It takes some sort of skill to handle angry consumers. The Regional manager finally called me a week later because he was out sick and no one bothered to handle his cases. He said they would do what they could to get a part for my vehicle and also they would compensate me for the time it was down. Nissan said they would give me 2 months payments or buy my car back. Well May 18th I got my car back and if you remember I bought it brand new on March 22nd. I drove it for a weekend exited about having it back well that was short lived. It broke again...same thing I took the car back to Nissan called headquarters and asked them to buy it back. I get a call a week and a half later and Nissan tells me they will not repurchase the vehicle or compensate me in any way. So I filed with the BBB and also with the GA Governors office for consumer affairs and I am also debating a civil suit against Nissan for the time I have been without a car and the amount of stress this car has caused. I will never purchase a Nissan product again with the chance Nissan might actually have to stand behind their product. The car was driven 16 days total and I have been 62 days and counting without. If car dealers are going to over charge you for vehicles they should at least stand by them. When I asked the dealer to make good on the product he sold me he said he would loose money if he helped me out. That is a shame we would not want them to loose money to keep a customer. The next time I am in IRAQ serving this country I will pray for all of you back in the US getting robbed by corporations on a daily basis.

Does your state have a lemon law? If it does, contact a lawyer in your state that specializes in the lemon law and get your money back. Good luck!

To all the people on here whose first and only recommendation to all complaints on M3C is to get a lawyer: have you ever actually hired a lawyer for anything (other than real estate)? do you know how much lawyers charge? Can you imagine the legal fees over a drawn-out lawsuit against one of the world's largest auto makers? Even if they only dragged it out (which they do) to 5 years, the legal fees would exceed the cost of the vehicle.

Ad - I think in a lemon law case if you are proven to have a lemon, the fees will be paid by the company. (At least that is what I have been lead to believe by reading info on the net). Is it better to spend some money or pay for years on a car that does not work? I do know how much lawyers charge because BK (before kids) I worked for one. Trust me, I don't advise anyone to go to one if I don't think it would help or is appropriate!

A guy at my work hired a lawyer specializing in lemon laws. It was free and it was fast. He quickly got a pay back. That's why you go to a lemon law specialist.

Good point, but I would still be wary, considering that if you are proven not to have a lemon (or fail to prove that you do have a lemon - whatever), you might have a hefty legal bill staring at you. It's a tough spot, to be sure.

All states have a lemon law. You should have already qualified since each states have limitations for how long a vehicle can be out of service for the first 18 months. At 62 days I am nearly 100% sure you already qualify. You need to start the arbitration process with either a lawyer or there are some very helpful websites that will help you do it yourself. You should be entitled to either a new 350Z or a refund including your tax and tag fees. Unfortunately these matters are out of the control of the selling dealer and are strictley between yourself and the manufacturer so looking to the dealer for assistance is beyond their ability. Ad, old buddy, one thing you fail to take into consideration. When you win the case in a civil suit, the losedr usually has to pay all the legal fees. I have seen case where each litigant is ordered to pay their own, but the norm is the loser pays the freight.

Starlord: True, but these cases are not really considered civil suits. Lemon laws are governed typically by an arbitrator , not a judge. Since the vehicle has been out of service for 62 days it is pretty much a slam dunk! You can hire an attorney if you like but usually these matters can be resolved with a little research on the consumers behalf.

Thanks for everyones help. I am mainly P/O because of the way Nissan handled this case. They left me high and dry and I did not expect that from them. I expected them to stand by there product and the consumer. This is quoted direct from Nissan "Nissan North America and your Nissan dealer are committed to excellence in the quality of our vehicles as well as our sales and service efforts. We want you to be completely satisfied with every aspect of choosing, owning, and servicing your Nissan. Our corporate goal is focused on exceeding your expectations in all aspects of doing business." This is disturbing that they might actually think this. They are selfish greedy and care only about their intrests and not the consumer. Is it just me or is the quality going down while the price is going up. I finally got them to start repairing my car for the third time. At first they said they were not going to touch my car anymore since I was seeking arbitration under the lemon law. Last time I checked I was still paying on a brand new car and it was still under warranty. Also I might add several times they asked if I was financed with Nissan and it seemed because I was not they wear even less motivated in helping me. Just venting hope you enjoy the read. I HATE NISSAN and will probably be a expert on screwed consumers once this is all said and done.

Jbeez, I feel the same way. I am floored by Nissans lack of interest regarding customer satisfaction (read my problems posted yesterday about my 07 Armada). I would be broke and embarrassed to go into public if I ran my business the way Nissan is runnig theirs. In our disposable society I guess we as consumers do not matter any more.

ST CHARLES, ILLINOIS -- Worst dealership ever!!! They lie about everything pretty much. Lied about the value of my trade in and told me it was "black book" price. .well we all have access to that you idiots! They were off by about $4000!!! Then to escalate matters, they ran my credit through a bunch of places without telling me! And. .I did find the right car at a great dealership. .they ran my credit only once and got me approved for a really good rate & gave me a fair price for my trade in right away and the service at that dealership was fantastic! Tried to post this all on Dealer Rater but apparently they only allow Good posts on that site. Stay clear these guys lie and are very rude! Check out the Better Business Bureau site they have an "F" rating with the BBB.

Actually you don't have access to NADA's true black book price. It's only available to dealers and it's updated twice a month. It costs a dealership or dealer group about $3600 a year to subscribe to it. The values you get on the Nada website for consumers is not the same as the black book. It should be pointed out that the Blue Book is not the same as the Black Book, the values given in those are from two different companies. And again as I mentioned before, the NADA black book value you see on the consumer NADA site is not the same as the updated values on the dealer-only NADA site.

Low balling trade ins is how dealerships make the bulk of the revenue. It's something that should be expected, and it's the consumer's responsibility to be informed on the actual value of their trade in. The didn't lie about the value of your car, they made you an offer on it. The value of any product where negotiation is a factor is whatever the other person will pay. Car buying is not like retail sales.

Really Disgusting Practices

HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK -- I purchased a certified used car from them at which time I purchased the extended warranty because I was told I could cancel any time. I have been trying to cancel that warranty to no avail. I later learned that they included the warranty in the final price of the car and made it look like I was given the warranty as a compliment so there is nothing to cancel since I did not pay for it.

That is not true because the car was advertised on the internet for $4000 less than I paid for it so I did pay for the warranty.

I don't know why you would buy an extended warranty if this was a certified pre-owned car. How much time was left on the CPO?

You don't get anything for free at a car dealer. With a CPO car, you are paying more than if it were not CPO. It is essentially a warranty.

Before you bargain price, you have to have researched the value of the car.

It seems to me that you must have signed a sales agreement for $4000 over the price the car was advertised for. If the understanding was that the $4000 was for an extended warranty (sounds like a lot) and that it was cancellable, then it should have been clear in the paperwork that the extended warranty was cancellable.

Why is it that you "later learned" that they wrote the warranty in as a complimentary item. Is that what you wanted?

It's happened to me more than once that I'm sitting in one of those little offices talking to the "finance" person at a car dealership and they say "don't you want to get an extended warranty (or a maintenance plan) to protect your investment?".

Then I say: "show me what you've got in writing".

Then they fumble arounbd on the desk and can't seem to find any actual contracts.

Then I say: "well, we better get on with this or I won't be buying the car at all".

Pretty soon, they stop pitching the warranty.

IT sounds like they sold you a 3rd party extended warranty instead of one backed by the manufacturer. I have bought many certified used vehicles and each time I bough the extra coverage warranty that extended the coverage but was also backed by the manufacturer. When they pitch the 3rd party warranties, I tell them no and I only want one backed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer backed ones are a bit more expensive, but I have never seen one for $4K. The most I ever paid was $1000 and that was to cover a Honda fro 10 years/100K miles bumper to bumper instead of the normal 10year/100K power train only warranty that comes with the certified vehicles.

Nissan Rogue sucks and the Customer Service is even worse

FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE -- I bought my daughter a new Nissan Rogue (her first) and the Transmission died in the very first month. I have called, sent several emails and written letters to the Management of Nissan, Mr. Carlos Ghson, President, Mr. Hiroto Saikawa, Mr. Al Castignetti and others and have NOT heard from any one of them. I have lodged complaints with their Customer Relations department and was rudely accosted by one Maryanne, who told me there was nothing they could do, short of replacing the transmission. I asked that an extended warranty be issued on the vehicle as it was unreliable, but was denied that privilege. Nissan has lousy cars, bad service, callous customer relations and they deserve to play second fiddle to Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hundai and other car manufacturers. I will NEVER buy another Nissan again and I would encourage any one reading this article to refrain from doing so either.

Is this a new vehicle? If so, they replace the transmission at their cost. And the warranty will be almost the entire original one, since the vehicle is one month old. If the dealer is a good they give you a loaner if this takes more than a day. I don't think they owe you any further warranty or compensation. The purpose of a manufacturer's warranty is to cover repairs, which it sounds like they plan to do, unless I misread the complaint.

I am not seeing where the customer service sucks, or that you were denied the privileges the warranty provides.

They replaced the transmission. I assume you researched cars pretty thoroughly before deciding on this car for your daughter, so you didn't think that Nissan had lousy cars at the time. Now that one thing happened (yes, a big thing, but it's being taken care of), Nissan has lousy cars?

All they are required to do is fix your car per your warranty. Are they refusing to fix your transmission? Or, are you saying you want more from Nissan than for them to fix your transmission? You should have purchased or negotiated for an extended warranty before you bought the car. Just because your transmission failed doesn't give you the right to composition. They just need to fix the problem.


Every model car in the world sees a small percentage of early breakdowns, that's why you have warranties. You don't know yet if it was just a fluke or a bad car. If the issue is they won't fix it, then get an attorney.

I agree with your complaint . my 2011 Nissan rogues brakes started screeching as I back out of my garage. and because 2 dealerships stated there was not anything wrong with the brakes and without a diagnosis there was nothing they could do. I purchased an extended warranty also when I purchased the car.

I have the same experience but my situation is more serious. At least you were not involved in an accident. This is what happened.

My parents were involved in a car accident on July 23 at around 3:30 pm PST. The driver was my mother and my dad was the passenger. My mother was driving her 2010 Nissan Rogue on Slocan Vancouver BC heading toward Broadway and suddenly she heard a zzzz zzzz sound and the dashboard lights all lit up. After that the car automatically accelerated on its own heading toward Broadway. She tried to stop the vehicle by stepping on the brake but the brake was very hard and would not deploy. She said it was like stepping on a rock. She even shifted the gear to Park hoping that would stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued to accelerate until it hit a Large Van but the vehicle would not stop but instead after hitting the Large Van, it continued to accelerate even more until it hit a nearby lamp post.

As well at that time the police arrived and lots of witnesses saw how the vehicle accelerated non-stop.
I had Nissan Canada send someone to inspect the vehicle on August 1, 2013 and they said they found no issue. They would not even provide the technical report because Nissan Canada said that this is proprietary information and is never disclosed to the consumer or anyone. I then later sent an email to their president on Monday August 12 and today August 14, I got a call from Nissan and they were able to provide me with the inspection EDR report which had nothing but airbags which I have attached in this email as well.

Even from an elementary student, they know that if you do not step on the gas then a car should not speed/ accelerate. From wiki and lots of online article the EDR or blackbox should record more than just airbags. It should record the speed of the car, brakes, if the gas pedal was stepped etc.
I did mentioned to them even an elementary student knows if no one stepped on the gas then the car should not accelerate.

Nissan Canada Said there is nothing they can do and will not pursue further.

IPDM Intelligent Power Distribution Module

Be careful when buying a Nissan! I first purchased a Nissan Exterra and when the dealership could not get the ABS system to keep working, they traded me for a new 2005 Nissan Frontier LE.
Yesterday the truck cut out leaving me stranded on the freeway several times, the last time with a diesel right behind me.
I was able to restart and barely got to the closest repair location from there. After testing all afternoon yesterday and today, they finally figured out it was the IPDM.
The part is not available anywhere, due to so many consumers needing it. Japan can not keep up with orders and it could be as much as a month to get the part- and the truck does not run without it! There should be compensation for this inconvenience as well as a recall due to the many of us who are stuck with no vehicle to drive due to the faulty design on the system.
I am stuck now, no car, little money and nothing anyone seems able to do. Nissan Corp representative simply stated "what can I tell you, it is what it is." Awesome customer service. Any suggestions for me? This could very well cost me my job as I am in outside sales in an area with very little work available. Wonderful.

I too have the same problem with my 2005 frontier. Except I first paid to have the Catalitic convert replaced, $1200, fuel pump and fuel gauge sender $800.00, ICM replace $280.00. After all of this Truck still stalls while driving. Luckily I have always had a place to pull over and wait for it to restart but one of these days I will not and be involved in a bad crash.

Rusted out Nissan Frames and Undercarriages

Do you own a Nissan with rusted out frames and undercarriages? We have started to TRY to get some help but it will take all of us to ban together to try to get something done. We have filed a complaint with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the ODI (Office of Defects Investigation). If enough of us register complaints and this organization can determine a pattern of the same thing happening to numerous people on numerous trucks they can deem it a defect, if an investigation is opened and a defect can be determined they can force Nissan to issue a recall. Please contact us today for full details. We own a 1995 Nissan XE pickup, started rusting at the age of 8 with low 60's mileage. This is only an attempt to try to resolve this issue but if no one complains to the right place nothing will ever be done. It's only a 5-10 minute phone call. Sorry to say, but Nissans (first Datsuns) have been doing this since at least the early 70's. It's a particular problem in the northern areas where salt is used on the roads in winter. Unless Nissan had a warranty on the vehicle that promised it wouldn't have rust at the age of 8 years, they're not on the hook for it.

A 1995 vehicle would be 14-15 years old now...if the vehicle is used in an area where salt is used on the roads in the winter, rusting is inevitable. I doubt it very much if Nissan would be able to do anything about your rust problem at this point. If the rusting happened on a vehicle, for example, 4 years old or newer, then there will be some concern. But by 8 years or older, rust will start to get in, and rust can be dangerous when it hits a frame, a strut tower, or any body support structure. Most people would sell or junk a vehicle once the rusting becomes severe.

My car is 16 and no rust as of yet BUT it did spend most of it's life in Southern California. It's only been up north for 2 years. I baby the crap out of it. My mom's 11 year old Ford just started rusting around the wheel well and she gets it rustproofed! Point is, rust is a fact of life if you live up north, and I don't really fault Nissan here.

I had the back seat finally fall through the floor of my Pathfinder. It is a 91 with 263K muiles on it. I was waiting for it to happen, because in PA they salt the crap out of the roads, even if it is just flurries. Rust happens, as my pathfinder is being eaten away by it. It is almost 19 years old so I was expecting it.

Didn't Receive Notification That My Account Was Handed To 3rd Party Collector.

I am very disappointed by the non-action of Nissan. I co-signed a loan and the payments were being made by the primary account holder. The primary account holder made a payment every month, some on time and some late that I am aware of. I rarely received a call from Nissan demanding payment since the primary account holder was making payments. In the month of September 2009 I made two payments totaling over 600 dollars. The account at that point was up to date. The primary account holder was going to make the final two payments to the account to pay it off early. Let's just say the remaining amount of the loan is under 600 dollars. Nissan did not contact me by telephone or by letter nor did they contact the primary account holder who I co-signed with that they are sending our account to a collection agency for the remaining amount. So I get a call at my work demanding payment for the remaining amount from the collection agency. I told them on the phone that I don't have the money and that I cleaned out my savings to make the last payments 2 weeks ago. They did not care, they demanded the last amount.

I told them on the phone that I don't know who they are and why they are calling me. They told me that Nissan handed our account to them and I told them why because the account is current and that Nissan never notified me of this action on our account. They told us that we must have broken some type of agreement with Nissan. I didn't understand so I ended up calling Nissan. I couldn't get any logical reason why they didn't tell us by letter or phone call that they are no longer handling our loan. So basically my complaint about Nissan is the non-action of not receiving any kind of correspondence that our loan was handed over to another company I never heard of. I was shocked by the call I received and I just don't blindly trust somebody I have never worked with directly. I did not give that new company any money and I will not until I receive something in writing from them. I am disappointed in Nissan for not advising me about the actions they took with my account. For this I will never purchase a car from them again, even with cash.

The primary account holder on our loan was paid every month and I even made some payments to the account. So, I will never do business with the company again. There is no point for me to as I am just very disappointed. It feels pretty crappy being caught off guard with zero warning. Customer Service is very important these days, especially with the current state of the economy.

I am in no way defending Nissan's lack of communication, but by your own admission the primary account hold had made late payments which means they are in default of the original agreement. You also state that you made two payments in September of this year totaling over $600. That would mean that the auto loan was 60 days past due or very close to it. It is very fortunate for the car owner that the car had not been reposessed. Financial institutions are really cracking down and it would be extremely difficult to get another loan with late payments and slow pays showing up on a credit report.

And as the cosigner they are under no obligation to notify you of anything. They can however attempt to get payment from you. You said yourself the account has been paid late, and regularly from the way it sounds.

Since they are calling you that means they can not contact the primary signer. Probably because he/she is dodging them.

Did you know that even if only one payment is left owed they can repossess that car legally? Best crack down on the person you cosigned for. They are wrecking not only their credit but yours as well.

Actually the account is not 60 days past due, nor is it close. Me and the primary account holder made an agreement with each other to pay off the loan early to get it taken care of. So we agreed to each make two payments in September and two in October. Before we can even get to the October payment, it was already handed over to the new company.

Neither one of us is dodging the company that called us. We were just caught off guard because the account is paid up to date. Yes, the primary made payment late in the past. But we got zero notification that a new company will collect the remaining amount. I specifically told the new company I don't know who they are and I will not blindly give them my credit card and bank accounts because I have never sent my payments to them before. Only have I ever sent payments to Nissan. I advise them I wasn't agreeing to anything until I contact Nissan to find out what is going on. The primary also called Nissan in which the supervisor told him specifically that she in fact did not know why our account was being given to this other company since it is up to date and actually will be paid off early due to simply looking at the balance on the account.

Another thing that makes me not trust this new company is that they refused to give me their address. This was my latest call to them just last night. This is an issue that began yesterday after my lunch break and they called me at work.

I have called Nissan and advised them that it is just plain common sense to contact their customers in writing or by telephone that they need to tell us or give us some kind of warning that somebody new is taking over our account. I also told them I am filing a complaint, which I already have. I am quite sure nothing will become of it, because customer service is subpar anymore. It plain sucks period. I know that my credit has been affected by this account and at this point I really don't care. The point is is that Nissan has poor customer service and did not contact me and thousands of other customers because the rep on the phone said they are getting tons of upset call. Not just me here. Today I am contacting the new company yet again to advise them that nothing will be sent to them unless we get something in writing stating who they are, what the balance is, when it is due and what their full intentions are. They are required by collection laws to do this. I have already looked it up. Plain and simple, you get no money if you do not provide something in writing. Once I get something in writing I will scan the letter and send to the primary in which he is going to make the payment in full and that payment will be attached to their letter. If they do not comply, they get zero money and I will contact Nissan yet again. The new company told me on the phone last night that they do not own the loan and nor did they "buy" the loan. They said in this economy they hired this company to make calls and collect money. So, in reality if they do not own the loan, then Nissan should be required to step in and mediate this issue. I will go no further until I have a letter in writing. The man at the new company said I can only send Western Union or money gram. BS! No way! No how! You give me a letter in writing saying who you are and what your address is and what your full intentions are. They are not getting a dime from me through any Western Union or money gram!

You're right not to trust a company that refuses to give you their address, and to not give your bank account info. Since Nissan can't tell you why the account was handed off, they should be willing to accept the final payments.

Your anger is misdirected. You should be mad at the primary account holder. That person had you co-sign and said she would make payments regularly - is that not correct? Instead she was late with payments on occasion. She said she would make the final two payments and she did not, nor did she inform you she failed to do so. So after having lied to you in the past, expressly or by omission, she tells you she were never notified by Nissan -and you believe her.

What does it matter if it was transferred to another company, I thought the primary was going to pay off the account. Why do you need a warning, simply send the money in. Isn't that what she was going to do anyway?

An agreement was made between me and the primary at the beginning of September that I would make two payments and they would make two payments to pay the loan off early. He is paying off the loan at then end of this month. That is what is happening. If we were to follow the schedule this loan wouldn't be paid off until end of December. But before we can even attempt to pay Nissan the final balance they have turned our account over to a different company without notifying us. So we get a call from a company we have never heard of demanding payment that very second and to give our credit card or bank account. I said no and so did the primary. I don't know about you but I don't blindly give my money out on their word whenever I have never dealt with them before and didn't get notification that I would have to deal with them. The account is current as we speak. It is paid in advance by a month right now. The primary was planning to pay it off this month. The 3rd party company is breaking the law by not sending me something in writing within 5 days of their first call to me. They will not give me their address. They will give me nothing. This is beside the point now.

I have contacted Nissan again this morning because I get things taken care of quickly. I do not beat around the bush. I do not dodge my responsibility or the calls I am receiving.

I called Nissan this morning. I spoke with a very calm gentleman. After confirming myself and the account, I asked that he record or take notes on about what I was going to say. I said number 1) I have filed formal complaints against Nissan for not notifying or warning me that a company they hired to call customers will be contacting me. 2) I advised him that the 3rd party is breaking the law by not providing me the information I asked for. 3) A woman the primary account holder spoke to yesterday at Nissan was curious as to why our account was handed over to this company when our account is current. 4) She promised to call back but never did. 5) I then asked the Nissan Rep to provide me firm direction as to how to handle this issue, payoff the account in full without involving the 3rd party company because we have no trust in them and that we will not give our accounts to them or mail them anything. They have lied and broken the law. He said no when I asked for the address. He kept saying I can only send payment to Western Union or a moneygram. I laughed and said BS! No way! So then I once again said give me direction to resolve this issue. The next payment is not due until the end of this month but we want to pay it in full instead. I said if this is not resolved today, I am going a step further by contacting the media. Sorry, but when I am backed into a corner, I will take every avenue necessary. As you can see I will talk about this on a message board to get my point across.

This was the reps response to me: He said that our Loan is owned by Nissan. The 3rd party does not own the loan and nor do they have the authority to report anything to my credit report. The 3rd party is hired by Nissan to make phone calls for them. Because of the economy and low staff, they hired this company to make calls. Also, he then informed me that we can make our final payment to them if we so wish. They will not reject payment. Once payment posts they will close our account ask the 3rd party to not call anymore and advise them that the account is closed. What really angers me is that rep yesterday at Nissan advised me that we are required to go through the 3rd party. All of the conflicting information just angers me even more. All of this is happening on an account that is current.

MissT32, how have you been making payments thus far? Are you mailing a check or using online bill pay or something like that? Sounds to me, like you can just send the last payment to Nissan like you have been doing all along. I hope you have a record of each payment like cancelled checks or online bill payment confirmations. That way you have a record of all payments made so that they don't come back saying you owe more after you send this last payment. I don't blame you for not dealing with the 3rd party company either. Sounds fishy that they would only take MoneyGram or Western Union.

Sounds like a big screw-up by Nissan, but that happens. I received a letter once saying my mortgage payment should be made to a new bank, and I wrote back saying it was a scam and I would not send anything until I received proof of assignment of the mortgage. It finally got straightened out, but no big deal.

When you make your last payments, I would make sure if you are sending a check to include a letter saying this pays off the loan and if not, respond back to me within 10 days. I would also send the letter certified return receipt so that you have proof of their receipt of the letter. Sorry for questioning the honesty of the primary.

He has been making payments all along each month and I have jumped in to help get the loan paid off early. He has record of all his payments through his bank. The two payments I made at the end of September were through my bank. When I call the automated system even today....it states what the balance is remaining. The primary account holder was planning to payoff this account at the end of this month with his next unemployment check. Then we get this stupid company demanding full payment yesterday and to provide our account number to them. I said no right away because first of all I don't have the money right now, and second the primary is making the final payment. Niether one of us is dodging any calls from these people. And Lastly....I am not giving them anything when I don't who they are and Nissan never notified me that they would contact me in any way shape or form. So to me, this whole thing is shady from the beginning. It is a bad economy and people are pinching every dime and I am not going to just hand over my account information. Maybe some people are stupid enough but I clearly am not that stupid.

JR: Yep you are correct! Bad Mistake by Nissan but they will not pull the plug on this company calling us. Basically the call will stop once the last payment is made to them.

Also we have already written a letter that we will be sending with the final payment. It will be mailed priority overnight with signature required that it has been received. Once the payment posts, we will also contact Nissan verbally to send us a payoff letter. Anything to get this crap off our backs.

As soon as I found out that he lost his job, I needed to help pay it to make sure the account is being taken care of. He has some form of income and he is not avoiding his bills.

Right now it is all about having a paper trail to show proof!

This sounds a little fishy. From your account, you are not past due, why would there be any reason at all to send it to collections. I don't think I would deal with these people at all, and would continue to send the final two payments to Nissan, unless Nissan specifically tells you not to. This could be someone in Romania just trying to get your account information.

MissT, I think I understand. Nissan hired an outside source to help them with their collections. Somehow, your current account was handed to them. (Unless they do courtesy calls on current accounts like we used to do. Still, we just did reminders on those not collecting) They are doing their job by collecting, but they are collecting the wrong account.

When a company gives accounts over to collect, they don't just give one or two at a time...they give a bulk load. That is probably why they can't halt it immediately. And some company's have a policy that once a collection has been closed, it can't be reopened. THAT is why Nissan said it will stop when you pay off.

Just hang up when they call. And pay as normal.

NOW, on the flip side....asking you to send an untraceable payment sounds fishy to me.

TOTOWA, NEW JERSEY -- Everything started when I received a recall letter that said that a model and a year of my car has a defective filling tube that can start leaking or even cause this car to blow up. It said I should go to any dealership to get it fixed for free. Went to this dealership on route 46, Totowa, NJ for service. They fixed it, I took the car home and barely made it to my street-the car broke and wouldn't start. My father is an expert mechanic, he checked the battery and also checked if there was a spark. Everything was normal. Then he poured some gas directly into the engine and the car started. So, he said that fuel just wasn't getting to the engine because of what they did while "fixing" my car. I paid to have it towed back to them. It surely took them several days to start working on it, and when they called me back to inform me of the problem they said that there is just NO SPARK! Anyway, I needed the car ASAP so, I decided to go ahead and just fix it. They charged me over $700.When I went to pick up the car I found some of my things missing! They STOLE several things like anti-radar & $300 worth of tools from the trunk which is very important for every driver to have. I called the police and the officer said that for the past 15 yrs this has been happening pretty often at this particular dealership. I am pregnant (in my 9th month), on maternity leave and I'm due any week now.! Obviously money is a big deal to me. I do not have a baby crib or even a bussinett. Now, bacause of this big expense I just had I won't have a bed for my little one, I cannot afford it!

I get an impression that they do it on purpose to make money. So, if you get a recall letter DO NOT GO TO DEALERSHIP! They will finf a way to full you and make money off of you. They will make any small problem a big one!People BEWARE!

if the police said this has been a re-occurring issue at this dealership, you were not 'ripped off and ROBBED', due to you being with child. ripped off and robbed yes. did you file charges? many times, dealerships state to remove all your personal items before service.

I agree with Eloise. Sounds like you don't have your priorities in order. I understand about the dealership but you should have removed anything of value before taking it in. Cribs are not very expensive anymore. Don't you have any baby second hand shops. I can't remember there names but you should also be able to find one in the classifieds, at least until you can get your own. Have you talked to your father about this, maybe he could help you and his grandchild out? Oh, and quit using your current pregnant status as an excuse. What's going to happen when you have the child? Are you going to use your child as leverage when things don't go your way?

GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK -- On 3/14/09 I visited Nissan of Garden City in order to purchase a car. I met with a sales person named [snip]. After taking my application, he informed me that he would get me approved for a 2007 black Nissan Murano at a cost of $14000. As part of the agreement he agreed to pay the remainder of my existing car note for my 2000 Toyota Sienna at $6298.00, which was a huge incentive. He said it would take 10-14 days to be approved because this was a "special arrangement".

On 3/26/09 I called [snip] to explain that I needed to continue to make payments on my Toyota Sienna. He apologized for the inconvenience and said that he would make 2 payments totaling $1006 with "voucher money" from the dealership. He asked for my bank account number so he could transfer the voucher money into my account, allowing me to pay my current car note. I later found out that this transfer was deducted from my down-payment, in violation of our agreement.

On 4/2/09, I told [snip] that I refused to wait any longer and that I wanted a refund. He reassured me that I could pick up the new car on Thursday, 4/9/09. However, on 4/9/09 when I called [snip] to arrange for pickup of the new car, he stalled. I did not hear from [snip] at all that day, although I tried contacting him repeatedly. The next morning I finally spoke to him and requested a refund again; he then transferred all but $50 back into my account. I later called Nissan of Garden City to make a formal complaint and get the $50 refunded. However, I was told that no one was available and that the sales manager would return my call. I have not received any call to date, nor have I received the $50 I am owed.

I would like my refund of $50, as well as to lodge a formal complaint regarding the business practices of the sales staff at Nissan of Garden City. I am also concerned about the exposure of my personal and confidential financial information unnecessarily and would like some recourse taken as to the security of my information.

MASSACHUSETTS -- I bought my 2002 Nissan Maxima last year from Nissan of Natick in Massachusetts. Two weeks ago, I was driving home from work and my "Servce Engine Soon" light came on and my car started to slow down and then stopped moving. Fortunately, I had enough time to pull over before the car had broken down. Nissan does not have 24 hour Roadside Service so I had my boyfriend call his AAA to get a tow truck. I was really upset because this car was only a year and a half old, and this should not have happened. So the following morning, I called the service center to let them know why my car was there. They told me they would get back to me later after they do some tests but they were really booked that day. I spoke to them later that day and they told me they could not finish the tests until tomorrow, but they think it is the throttle control. I asked about a loaner car but they said the loaner cars were booked until the end of July. And Nissan only paid for rental cars if I had bought the extended warranty but I didn't buy that. I called them the next day and they still did not finish the diagnostics. I called them again the day after around closing time (on a Friday)and they told me that it appears to the engine control module but they need to run one more test to finally determine what it is wrong with my car. They left me a message on Monday and said that it is definitely the ECM and they would need to get a part overnighted. So basically, they had my car starting Wednesday morning to get it tested and repaired but it took them until Monday to finish the diagnostics. On Tuesday, I called again (they called me twice during this whole crisis), and they told me that they had overnighted the wrong part and they would get the right part and hopefully it will come the following day. I called again on Wednesday and Thursday but the part still had not come in. Friday was the 4th so it was a holiday, which meant I would not get my car until Monday. This means my car has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks, and I had absolutely had no car to drive. I had told them that I really needed my car back asap because I was to go on a road trip for that weekend, plus it was an inconvenience for me having to wait for rides to work. I rely heavily on my car and they could not even provide me with a loan car to drive. I had to call the service center everyday. They told me they would get back to me, but I was the one who had to pick up the phone to call them to check the status on my car. They kept telling me that they gave me an option to rent a car, but why should I spend more money when I am spending a hefty payment on a new car I had bought last year. Needless to say, I have no car to drive right now and it has been almost two weeks. I am so irate with Nissan and the service center people. The service is awful!
