Bone found in turkey breast lunch meat
Posted by on
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN -- I purchased a 10 ounce package of Oscar Mayer "turkey breast, smoked" lunch meat which was used to make sandwiches. When biting into the slice of meat, I bit into a piece of bone embedded in the meat. The bone fragment is 2 mm thick x 3 mm x 4 mm (triangular shaped). The turkey bone fragment obviously made it through the processing of the meat and subsequent slicing operations. The only identifying number on the plastic package is 0450005626900/03103 located near the "NET WT 10 OZ"

So? I don't understand why you're complaining. It's a meat product, and these things sometimes happen. At least now you know that the lunch meat was made from real meat.

Yes, Turkeys have bones. If the meat is made from turkey, once in a blue moon, a bone will slip through the processing cracks and end up in your lunch meat. It just so happens that your moon turned blue that day. Spit it out and move on.

True Jambra and Clutzy, you get bones with fish and meat and dirt with veggies and fruits. Just remember the source God has provided for the things we eat.

This isn't a complaint; it's "informative." I've never, ever had a bone in sandwich meat, and never would have considered one would show up there. Thanks for the info, shoprite.

I have never found a bone in lunch meat, which makes me wonder if it was actually a bone. It might have been a hard piece of fat which sometimes looks and feels like a bone. I have had that happen with processed meats and ground beef. As long as you weren't harmed, I don't think this is something worth worrying about.

I think if I found a piece of hard anything, bone or fat I would be grossed out. But, it is what it is. I hope the OP sent an email to Oscar Mayer, just as an FYI.

I just found a piece of bone in my Oscar Mayer turkey as well. It's 30mm long and 10mm wide in the middle. I'm complaining to the company - I could have broke a tooth.

It happens. I once had a bone in my Weight Watcher turkey meal, and it was huge, I sent them the bone, along with the UPC bar, and received a refund and 10 coupons for 10 free dinners. Most companies will make good on a situation like this. They want to keep customers, not loose them.

This just happened to me today except it was my 10 month old daughter that had to bite it! It was a lunchable, and the bone was about half the size of a dime!
