Otel.com Took My Money and Received NO Service

We booked a room and paid in full at Sofitel Athens Airport through OTEL.COM via TRIVAGO to find it was a month later than I asked. When I tried to change the date even offering to pay any difference they stalled getting back until the date passed. Having to fly out that date I paid again the hotel directly.

The hotel could not do anything for us because OTEL.com or whoever they are does not reimburse the hotel for the occupancy unless it happens. Since we left Athens I tried to change the reservation name to a relative that was flying out and could use the reservation. Obviously they stalled again without a response till the date passed. SO THEY GOT TO KEEP MY MONEY.

Terrible!! This Company is a Scam.

I just experienced a similar incident regarding Otel.com. They sold nights for a hotel in Honolulu that showed sold out on every other website. They confirmed the dates and charged my card in full immediately after making the purchase. They sent me an email voucher that I am supposed to present to the hotel upon arrival next week. The problem is the hotel has no record of my reservation and truly is sold out and has been sold out for weeks.

I have contacted Otel.com and Tourico Holidays several times regarding this matter and all I'm getting is the runaround. I've spoken to the reservations manager at the hotel we were supposed to be checking into and she is confused as to why Otel.com would charge me and issue a fraudulent voucher that would not have been honored.

In the meantime, I have found another hotel to stay at and will be contacting my credit card issuer and filing a complaint. I'm thankful that I did some research to find out that we would have no room to check into before we actually got there. I will never use Otel.com in the future. It's unbelievable that this company conducts business in such an unscrupulous manner.

Scam operation

NY, NEW YORK -- A scam operation. It appears the they make their money by keeping what you pay and not passing it on to the hotel. I cancelled a reservation a week ago which the hotel says is fully refundable, but they had not received payment. These guys are trying to hang onto the money and not pass it on to the hotel. My bad for not reading all the other bad reviews. When I told them I would post bad reviews if they didn't notify the hotel of the cancellation they said they had passed my money on to the "hotel supplier" but they refused to tell me who that might be. They won't tell me why it is not refundable when the hotel says it is.

I am actually outside the USA, living in the Middle East. Not sure why this site is limited to USA as Otel.com cons people worldwide

I booked an attractive deal with Bed and BREAKFAST and was surprised that it will be the same cost as Bed only but why should I care.
When I received the voucher, it had 'room only' and I did live chat but and agent (or a program) by the name of 'Ece' kept telling me that my voucher says room only and had the nerve to ask me for screenshots!!!!
Seem like unlike booking.com, agoda, Expedia, makemytrip, nustay etc. with otel you need screenshots or you will not get what you booked!!!!!!!!!

Otel IS A SCAM, I booked two rooms a Deluxe and Superior room and when I checked the reservation two weeks before the trip the Deluxe room was cancelled. When I contacted them that I saw the room was cancelled they said sorry and would booked another room. But what they did was to replace the Deluxe room that was cancelled with a Superior room a $431.46 difference in cost. I called, open a ticket and messaged with them several times for more than a week, they now claim when they advertise a deluxe or superior room that they are the same thing.

Booked and paid for a twin shared room, received a mixed dorm with 5 bunk beds (shared room among 10 people)

Early this month my sister booked this hostel in London through 3rd party website (Otel.com), asked and paid for a twin shared room (40 pounds per person), so we have more privacy. She got a confirmation email from Otel after the payment. However when we got here they gave us a backpacker room with 5 bunk beds, mixed dorm and sharing with 9 other people, which costs only 30 pounds per person. When we went to the receptionist to try resolve this problem immediately, she mentioned that we can't change to a private room because it's all fully booked, however we need to talk to Otel (the 3rd party agent) directly for a refund. The receptionist said this is not the first time, and my sister tried to ring their phone number but it was too long so we couldn't reach them, the next morning we went over again, Otel mentioned they have to contact the other agent who helped to book the hostel room (?). Last night when we asked the receptionist again there wasn't any updates. Thus the whole experience was disappointing. We ended up paying 50 pounds per person for a 30 pounds room. Read a lot about Otel and apparently hard to get the refund. Lesson learnt: Book through the official website directly so if there's any issue we can resolve with the hotel/hostel straight away.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- DO NOT BOOK FROM THIS COMPANY! They will take your money online with the offer advertised, then when you arrive at the hotel, you will have no reservation because the Otel.com offer was never approved by the hotel. I then had to pay the full price again with the hotel despite already paying Otel.com (metglobal.com and Hotels Pro same company). Otel.com promised to resolve it by paying the hotel so that I can get refunded the second charge, but they're company credit card from Istanbul DECLINED. I've had to put in a dispute with my credit card company for Otel.com's charge since it was never resolved with the hotel and had to pay for twice!

I made a reservation for two rooms in Buenos Aires and then I read the reviews almost all of them negatives, the reservation was for 6 months later. I started calling the hotel every month to find out if they had the reservation and I always had the same answer, both reservations were there, then I called one month before our trip and they were still there. Unfortunately I had to cancel my trip and I canceled thru Hotels.com, then I had to add my daughter's name to the reservation because she was traveling and they told me how to do it.

To make a long story short, it was very easy to cancel and to add my daughter's name. She is at this very moment in Buenos Aires at the hotel. On the other hand less than a month after my cancellation and without having to call them back, I was reimbursed the total amount, so I HAVE ONLY GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT OTEL.COM. Thank you.

Otel Refused to Change a Booking Well Within the Time Allowed

I booked a hotel room in Orlando for three days for business. I changed my plans well within the allotted time to change and telephoned the customer service desk because their website is useless. The customer service desk spoke poor English but she understood my request and confirmed it.

I subsequently received an email stating that my change had been submitted but that it was not guaranteed and that I could cancel and rebook. Two days before check-in I received an email stating that my amendment had been denied. If I realized that I was booking a hotel room through Turkey, I would never have done it.

Fraud! Scam! Stay Away!

I was unknowingly routed to Otel.com when I booked a hotel room using Trivago. After booking, Otel sent me a confirmation e-mail stating that I could cancel for a full refund before X date. My plans changed 2 days before the cancellation deadline, so I tried to cancel the reservation. This is when I discovered that Otel had scammed me. The only way to cancel your reservation is to login to your Otel account. But no matter what I tried or how many times I used the "forgot login" or "forgot password" feature, nothing worked. There was no way for me to login. And since there is no way to write Otel and no number to call (they are supposedly in Istanbul, Turkey), there was no way to contact Otel other than through its online chat feature. When I did that, all Otel would tell me was that the reservation was "nonrefunable" - even when I confronted the online chat attendant with the cancellation policy DIRECTLY FROM OTEL'S OWN CONFIRMATION E-MAIL stating that I could cancel for a full refund. Otel left me with no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. But wait, it gets worse. When I did that, Otel fought the dispute claiming that I was never entitled to a cancellation because I NEVER TRIED TO CANCEL WITH THEM. On top of that, they produced a supposed conformation for my booking that had a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CANCELLATION POLICY in it (one I had neither received nor seen). Thankfully, I had the actual conformation e-mail that Otel sent me to prove that they were lying frauds. Now I am more than two months out, I still don't have a refund, and my money is tied up. STAY AWAY FROM OTEL.
