Worst Customer Service Ever

After a rude conversation with Casey in customer service, I have found that my order was sent to the wrong address in another state. My old home address that is my billing address and I can't switch it in my bank because there is no physical bank here. So the customer service said I messed up on my end, but there is no way in hell my card would approve if I typed in my zip code instead of the correct billing zip code. I spoke to a "supervisor" that said I needed to take care of it myself. Wow?! Really? It was delivered to the wrong address but yet it is my fault? And now my kids won't have their costumes for Halloween because I live in a small town in a state that is in the boonies so there is no party city near by, and I've always used party city in the past, my kids now won't have a Halloween. I can't believe a company would just be so cheap and couldn't help me out. $60 really will break their bank? I guess this company should change their name to greedy city! I will never again use party city! Greedy, rude, unhelpful, insensitive, and ruthless.

ORLAND PARK, ILLINOIS -- My daughter worked for Party City and worked her butt off for the Halloween season. This was a temporary job but had the potential to become a permanent job. Well she wasn't asked to stay. So she has been looking for a job since Nov 1, 2012 and no one was calling. Now I know why. Because every potential employer that calls to verify employment has to pay a fee of $21.95. Most employers aren't going to do that and will just pass the applicant by. She finally has found a job and starting working, but now the current employer wants to verify the employment. But they can not (per their rules) pay the fee. So she called the The Work Number to get a letter stating that she worked there and was told that the verification was for employers only. What a rip off. This is all a ploy to get money, this should be illegal. So she can't get the information and pay herself and her employer is not going to pay the fee. So what is going to happen. I'll tell you want, SHE IS GOING TO BE LET GO.

You try to get work in this country and you can't even get employment verification from your previous employers. I will not buy anymore from Party City and I will tell everyone that I know not to shop at Party City. They treat their employees (past or current) like dirt.

I think they want to do more than just verify employment. That can be done through w2s and paystubs.

Wrong, and in every way. They just figured out a way to scam a fee of $21.95 to say, yeah, so-and-so worked here.

Piss poor company policy, they should be ashamed.

I suggest filing a complaint with the Department of Labor, this practice is wholly and blatantly unacceptable by any standard. The US Department of Labor is responsible for making sure workers' rights are protected and that employment laws are upheld.

SAN LEANDRO, CALIFORNIA -- Okay... it's the Friday before Halloween (2010)... I go into party city in San Leandro, CA. I buy a little something for my costume... which I am not really sure I want to be.... But I think better safe than sorry. Grab it just in case... Right? Wrong!

As I was purchasing a pair of cheap leopard print pants for my costume I asked if the item was returnable... the clerk assured me they were the just needed to be returned within three days. No problem Halloween was in 2 days so if I changed my mind I would return them the next day.

Or so I thought... That night my husband finally decided to be the costume I originally picked out. so back the next day I went to party city to return those leopard pants. but there is a hitch... I can't return them for what I paid for them... I can only get a store credit. What!!!
I didn't know this was the bank of Party City! apparently, they were only doing returns for store credit regardless how you paid for it.

I asked to see a manager and I felt the line of thirty groan befind me... I mean what could I do??? be the bad guy or just let it go?

I argued and complained... I mean these pants cost me $30 bucks... and now I have a credit for $30 for a store I had never been to before and a store I will never shop in again.

and I don't even earn interest on my money... Party City are thieves!!!

The clerk was right in that you were able to return them. The problem is that the clerk didn't expand on that answer and you thought that you could get a refund.
Burlington Coat Factory used to have the same policy (no refunds, only store credits or exchanges) which is the main reason I rarely shopped there.
It's always a good idea to read the actual return policy (which is usually posted near the registers), especially if you're not 100% certain it's something you really want to keep.

You should be thankful you get anything at all. Most places have strict no returns at all on costumes.

It is very gracious of Party City to let you exchange items for up to three days. I don't see how you could expect a costume store to stay in business if they did cash refunds.

I wonder if this is the policy for all returns to Party City or only Halloween costumes? They do have to protect themselves against people who will buy a costume to wear to a party and then return it.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, No care for customers :(

I want to make this short because I'm tired of thinking about it. My experience with ordering from Party City online has been horrendous. They claimed they would send my stuff the same day and I had the two day shipping service. It is well past the date that I should have received it. They haven't even shipped it. Now some of the items are out of stock. I have called them 6 times (all different days), sent 3 emails (only 1 of which they actually responded to) and I have gotten nowhere. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for costumes that will now get here well after the holiday that they are for. They will not let me return them at this point. They are telling people that they will ship the same day, yet they keep giving me the run around and lying to me about shipping dates. I do not trust them. A representative said that she would call me back and never did. Not one time did they try to correct their mistakes and make me feel like a valuable customer. I told them I would not do business with them in the future and they didn't care. So why should I care to give them my money? The customer service is probably the worst I've ever dealt with. I understand making mistakes, but at least try to correct it. Make customers feel important. Don't be rude to customers. But they don't care, people still buy from them regardless. Oh well. They lost me.

So at this point have they shipped the order? If not, maybe you could just cancel the order and just go to a local store. If you can cancel the order make sure to dispute any charges on you credit card if they have already charged you for it.

Terrible Customer Service

I've spent way too much money at Party City over the years, but it is a good store most of the time. Always shopped at the Gastonia location until I was totally ignored by, of all people, a manager(nice purple shirts by the way) on two separate occasions. By the way, it was the same manager both times. I then took my business to the South Blvd location. After a few trips there, I notice that this wonderful person has transferred to South Blvd. I guess I upset him in a past life of something. I finally got assistance from a cashier,who was great. I think her name was Megan or something like that. I voiced my opinion of the manager and another employee standing nearby seemed to agree with me.
Anyway, to keep a long story long, I decided to go back to Gastonia. I had great service for the next few trips in Gastonia. Then of course he was back, same story all over again. I ventured back a few times over the past month and have not seen this guy, so hopefully Party City realized that he is not a person who follows the customer service standards the company and all of its other employees follow.

After reading a couple of responses to this complaint I realized that some people are not aware of the wonderful service the Party City gives is most cases. I've actually questioned an employee in the past and asked why they greet every customer and sometimes appear to try to compete with other employees to make first contact. I was told that this is what they are trained to do, and if they fail to do so, they will get in trouble with their manager. That being said, you come to expect the same service every time you go in, especially from the manager.

What exactly is your problem with the manager? Your complaint makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I also seriously doubt that you are important enough for Party City to transfer this manager just to irritate you. You sound like you have an issue.

You don't really say how you were ignored. I can only assume that you were trying to get help at the front end of the store since a cashier helped you? If that's the case, you should realize that not everyone has been assigned a register.

MADERA, CALIFORNIA -- I have been a user of Sanyo tvs for a long time but now I find that there seens to be a problem with the horizontal parts of your tvs. I have had trouble with three Sanyo TVs, first a 27", next a 36" and now my 21". On all three the horizontal has gone bad. At this moment I have 4 Sanyo TVs in my home. It appears that may be you have a problem with the parts you are using in you TVs. I know that as of now I will not buy another Sanyo model TV, I can't afford to go out every 3 to 5 years and buy another because the horizontal hold has gone bad

Being one of the more inexpensive brands, I must say I'm not surprised. Call a repair shop and see if they're worth fixing.

Dang I don't blame you. TV's have become so reliable lately, I wouldn't expect any problems in a non-projection or plasma set for at least a decade. Chalk up one to bad luck, but a pattern and it's time to get a Sony or another brand.

When you consider the cost of labor in most cases is is more economical to just buy a new set. And, it is a lot less aggravating than trying to get it repaired. Poor service, time delays, can't get parts, excuses, -- the list goes on.

It blows me away how cheap TV's are now. Not the new HD, LCD, Plasma etc., but just regular analog tv's. $49 for 13" color with front a/v inputs. $79 for 20". Unreal. They will probably push back the 2009? date for the digital deadline. Go cheap! If you need a big tv, buy a projector.

Bad equipment with worse service

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- Fax machine SFX100, stopped working properly after 8 times of use. Stopped printing on half a page, vertical.

After 6 emails to the company, I received a form email "since you did not respond we consider the matter resolved" I tried to let them know this is the ONLY communication received from them, but their system rejects the response.
