PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- As we have been having some serious problems with our life insurance policies, we requested to meet with Penn Mutual executives in person in an attempt to clear up the errors. Our policies have become a mess, not what we purchased, over-insuring us because PennMutual kept increasing the insured amount, at higher premiums, despite our objections. Instead, we are left with a lapsed policy, after 15 years of shelling out top dollars. Separately, the 2 smaller policies, carried a disability waiver, which was not honored, despite my husbands disability status since 1998. My complaint with NYS Insurance was closed July 14, 6 days after my July 8 email & phone conversation to them informing them that I would be making copies to send them. NYS closed this complaint 3 business days (2 weekend days after my July 8 correspondence with them. Our request to meet with Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company still stands as we need to fix this. Do I have to place an ad in the paper? I don't think this request is unreasonable, since there is numerous paper trails and lots of confusion involved and would be easier in person. My husband has a heart condition and I am legally blind, so copying & writing is not without its difficulties. Someone, please help. We have been fighting this for several years now.

See if your states insurance commission or agency can give you some advice on how to approach this problem. It's gotten too complicated for you to handle on your own.

Dear Alain, Thank you for your advice, however I did, in fact submit my complaint to New York State Insurance, with no results. When I called to inquire, they said they were reading hundreds of pages from Penn Mutual. On July 8, I told them, via phone, fax, & mail, that I would copy & submit may paperwork. New York State promptly closed my case on July 14 (6 days later, 3 business days,2 weekend) and sent me 500+ pages, in no order, with their bogus findings that circumnavigate the issues. Is this collusion?

I'm not qualified enough at legal matters to know if it's collusion or not. This is a very complicated matter, though, considering that you are facing a large company. Any chance of getting a free consultation with an attorney (a lot of firms offer this)? They may at least be able to give you some advice on this.

Another possibility is contacting the folks at the Americans with Disabilities Act group (ADA) at 800-514-0301 and see if they might be of help.
