Very Attentive Service
Posted by Allout! on 03/07/2010
SOUTHPORT, NORTH CAROLINA -- On Sunday March 7 2010 my family & I had lunch @ Pizza Hut of Southport, NC & it was a very positive experience. Being the parents of seven teen & pre teen kids going out for dinner is nothing less than challenging to say the least. Our waitress who bravely introduced herself to our children as Pam seated us rapidly & with sensitivity to our particular challenges. An event that normally involves stress for my wife & I was actually an enjoyable affair made possible by our waitresses caring & professional service. We will make this a regular event not only for our childrens sake but for the sakes of my wifes & my own. Thank you Pizza Hut.... and Pam!

Pizza Hut - IOI Mall, Malaysia
Posted by Backpackerchef on 12/21/2009
BANDAR PUCHONG JAYA, -- 21 December 2009, 12:45 P.M. - 1.45 P.M.
I stop by at Pizza Hut for lunch. However, I was terribly disappointed with its service. Below are some of the reasons:

Reason 1:
After > 1 hour of waiting our order was still not served.

Reason 2:
Upon calling on one of the waiter, we thought the matter will be solved. However, minutes later, we were offered a FREE salad bowl as an apology due to so called "kitchen problem". It is very important to note that we are customers, NOT beggars.

Reason 3:
I can never understand their definition of "kitchen problem" because if the kitchen was really having problem, why were the tables later than us were served while we were still waiting for our pizza (bear in mind by now 1 hour already passed)?

Reason 4:
All the while I was observing the small window counter where kitchen send out prepared food. That counter was jammed up but yet some of the waiters were idling around (chatting & joking - even after the bell was pressed few times).

I am writing this because Pizza Hut does provide tasty food. It will be sad to see due to poor management of some branch, Pizza Hut loses its fans.

you got a free salad. YOur order probably didn;t make it to the cook.....especially on a busy night....It happens. I would have either asked for a refund, or waited...if I didn't have anything else to do.

Something similar happened to me at a foreign Pizza Hut. Someone who came in after me ordered the same thing and they got my order. They gave me free bread sticks as compensation. At least they gave you something extra to make up for it.

I did not get a free "salad" but a free "salad bowl".

Pizza Hut...straight too my butt
Posted by Bargod on 10/17/2009
Tonite feeling rather ravenous as well as lazy, I decided to try out Pizza Huts new wingstreet wings as well as the usual pizza fare. The pizza itself was how shall I put it...Meh twas neither here nore there, but the wings...WOWIE..WOWIE mama they were good!! I tried the bone in breaded spicy buffalo style. One bite and I was instantly transported to wing heaven where all the angels had wingstreet wings instead of their regular angel wings. Kinda weird I know but hey I was my fantasy.
Summing up I give Pizza Hut wingstreet wings two messy thumbs up.

Friendly, good-natured servers at the Bennington Pizza Hut.
Posted by Diabolical on 09/09/2009
BENNINGTON, VERMONT -- I came back to college a week early for Residence Advisor training. After a long week of training, our boss took us out to grab some dinner at Pizza Hut courtesy of the college. There was about 15 of us in all.

Pretty much every restaurant I've frequented in Bennington has had the same reaction to a group of college kids entering - a deer-in-the-headlights look. Understandable. Some college kids have a reputation for being rowdy and rude. However, the two servers that waited on us acted genuinely happy to help us out.

They seated us quicky, laughed and joked with us, and gave us some suggestions as to how much pizza to order to take care of everyone in our party. We were brought some ranch pizza dippers free of charge, our glasses were quickly refilled, and the servers even joined in on conversation. The food was hot and exactly as ordered.

Even though our boss put a tip on the college card, we all made a big pile of dollar bills for them on the table, too. It was an excellent experience. Thanks, Bennington Pizza Hut - you rock!

Take Out Is Horrible
Posted by Mgilbo01 on 02/09/2009
NORTH SYRACUSE, NEW YORK -- Ok. I went to pizza hut about 2 months ago and ordered in. We had a supreme pizza that came out of the kitchen and it was delicious. Fresh vegies, crust and sauce was great. No complaints there.

But two weeks later I order a supreme pizza takeout which cost me $16. I get the pizza and it looked like it was cooked about an hour ago and all they did was re-heat it and throw some veggies on it. I then noticed they have pre-made pizza's in their warmer and I can guarantee you some lazy ass threw some vegs on one of those old things and sold it to me.

Eat in yes. Take out - NEVER! To all pizza hut managers... If someone orders a takeout, make it fresh please, especially for the price your charging.

I'll take you up on that 'guarantee'. How do you know for sure that's what happened? Did you call the pizza hut to ask for a new one?
Posted by kismentia on 2009-02-18:
Good advice, but it doesn't account for all/other Pizza Huts. I am a shift manager at my local Pizza Hut and all pizzas we make are made to order--I know because I personally make over 70% of the day's pizzas. We don't have a pizza warmer at our location. The only thing we do save is breadsticks, because they come in a full pan and often are ordered by the half. However, breadsticks leftover are only good for 2 hours and are re-cooked for customers. More often than not, we avoid these extra breadsticks.
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-02-18:
We get take out pizzas several times a year and they are always yummy. Cheese stuffed crust with fresh tomatoes!
Posted by mgilbo01 on 2009-02-18:
kismentia, I didnt say ALL pizza huts, I was talking about the one where I live. They have a pizza warmer and when I got there he took my pizza out of it. I'll go to pizza hut to eat in or lunch, but I'll never order take out from this place again. There are much better mom and pap pizza makers out there for 1/2 the price.

What baffles me is the quality difference between their eat in and take out. Eat in is way better and looks nothing like their take out. I don't know if its this restaurant cutting corners or not but something is wrong.
Posted by BokiBean on 2009-02-18:
To me, the only thing a pizza warmer is good for is keeping buffet pizzas warm...other than that, throw them out!
Posted by Tassrus on 2009-03-09:
The warmer at Pizza Huts are where your pizza goes after it is made. Pizza Huts do NOT premake pizzas then slap on toppings afterwards.. they are not McDonalds having 5 extra double cheeseburgers sitting in wait of a customer to order them.

The only reason your pizza would look an hour old is if you did not come to pick it up right away. Most Pizza Huts quote 15-20 minutes for their carryout because the oven takes 8-10 minutes to cook a pizza and then add a few minutes to actually make the pizza before cooking it. The reason the warmer is even there is to ensure the pizza is warm when the customer finally comes to pick it up.

I personally have quoted 15 minutes to customers before and had them come in 45 minutes later then complain the food didn't look fresh. Granted, this may not have been the case here, but it IS more often then not the case.

Anywho, the point is: Pizza Hut does not pre-make whole pizzas then keep them in the warmer waiting for customers to buy them. Next time, before you complain about a company, ask them yourself. It will save a lot of confusion, trust me.

What really happens in a Pizza Hut?
Posted by AnonymousNC on 11/06/2008
NORTH CAROLINA -- This is an informative letter in response to the Pizza Hut complaints listed on your website. I have worked at three Pizza Huts in NC and here are a few things that consumers in NC area should know. I HAVE NOT eaten Pizza Hut pizza since I quit 5 months ago.

The following is only applicable to RAGE, Inc. Pizza Huts, NOT Pizza Hut Inc. (there is a difference, a big one!)

I have tried for months to figure out someway to get the word out because I can't find any help to resolve these issues. I can't help but think what if my child ate a pizza from Pizza Hut while at someone else's house and became deathly ill or worse; very young children and the elderly are more prone to food borne illness than the average adult (learned this one in Servsafe). That's another funny thing, Rage Pizza Huts are paying for Servsafe certification and then completely disregarding what they paid to teach their general managers.

While at the 1st location, we were infested with rats and our District Manager did not take care of the problem until one of our employees and customers called the health department to tell them that there were rats in the dining room and a dead rat in our water heater. The restaurant had continued to wash dishes and service food on the supposedly "clean dishes". The problem wasn't fixed until we were shut down for two days by the health department. The water heater went out at another time and we were told that we could not close, just wash the dishes in cold water and continue business as usual.

The next place I worked, I trained for my General Manager position. Recurring times I saw 1-2 day old dough go out the door to customers (if your pizza is flat, it's on old dough...call back and get a refund or another, your best bet is another pizza establishment, not another pizza from pizza hut, other items are probably old too) and old veggies being used on the make table and salad bar (hidden in "new" food). If anyone knows anything about dough it starts to grow yeast after a day or so of sitting and smells like alcohol; it can be potentially dangerous if eaten.

As a new General Manager, while looking for new hires, I was told "do not hire deaf people, they are loud and obnoxious." My District Manager even told me to take a 5 lb box of blackened, molded, slimy mushrooms out of my trash can and put them back into the fridge to be used (You'll be glad to know that I threw them away after he left). "We can't afford to throw away food," were his exact words. He also called me before an inspection and told me not throw away any close to or expired food, just change the expiration date on the container so the health department could not get us.

Subsequently, I had a rough week at my restaurant following a local high school graduation. We had no tables, therefore my waitresses didn't make any tips that week; we were empty, almost every sale was carryout or delivery. At the end of the week I was instructed to delete any supplemental pay that was due to the waitress to ensure that they did not received minimum wage for that week. I refused and quit.

As far as I know, no one has ever taken these matters seriously. The NC Labor board was contacted and I'm assuming blew the entire thing off because I was never contacted after telling my waitresses that I would back them up at every turn and waitresses not receiving their pay is still occurring (I still have relationships with certain Pizza Hut employees that can verify these stories). I can't file a claim with the NC Labor board because it does not regard my pay, and I can't make a claim for someone else that is afraid to lose their job in fear of retaliation. If they would just subpoena Rage Inc.'s records, you can log into their system and pull up every possible thing that happened on a person's time slip or food ticket. On the time slips, it shows what tips were claimed and what they were changed to. It will also tell you who altered the claimed tips. (Basically, GM's, Assistants, and District Managers are logging into the system and claiming that waitresses made more tips than they claimed to avoid paying 6.55 an hour instead of 2.13 an hour. I know wait staff not claiming all or sufficient tips happens occasionally but I know for a fact that my waitresses were being screwed; you can't make tips if no one eats inside your restaurant and order everything to go.)

Rage Pizza Hut will rob your children if they work for them as wait staff; they will be (excuse the term) screwed out of pay due to them, treated with no respect, forced to service inadequate and unsafe food, and discriminated against. They will also work in unsafe and unsanitary environments.

I have tried what I can, I was just wondering if maybe I could get some help from someone out there that could help bring this nationwide corporation's abusive practices to a halt. If it happens in 3 restaurants in NC, I'm can almost promise you it happens everywhere else. All general managers attend the same meetings in every district, the story is probably the same, just with different faces.

By the way, I don't need this forwarded to the company, they already know what is occurring, they are encouraging it. And if one of them in my region reads this they will know exactly who I am, I questioned these issues several times within the company.

So what excatly is a Rage inc Pizza hut? Is that a franchise or something? Is it connected with pizza hut? Sounds like an awful place anyway.

Rage, Inc is a franchise of Pizza Hut, Inc.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2008-11-06:
Thanks for the Info...and thanks for caring enough to spread the word. I'm sure this goes on in alot of resturants and one would never know it unless they worked there. That place needs to be shut down and those who are telling people to use old dough and slimy mushrooms should be forced to eat it!
Posted by Anonymous on 2008-11-06:
Sounds like Rage has given you rage, DB.

Posted by Principissa on 2008-11-06:
I agree with DB. I wish that the agencies meant to protect the public from things like this would actually step up to the plate and do something about this. This is honestly one complaint where I actually believe every word the poster said. He/she reported this to the proper agencies and they did nothing. What the heck are they there for if they aren't going to do their jobs. If you wouldn't eat those nasty mushrooms or nasty old dough, why the heck would you make others eat it.

We have health departments in this country. Keep calling the county health department every time you see something wrong. I called the health department on a restaurant after I saw them pick food up off of the floor and weeks later they were closed down.
Posted by jenjenn on 2008-11-07:
If your pizza is flat, please do not assume it is old. Pizza Huts now use frozen dough and if it's not proofed properly or used before it's ready, your pizza will be flat as well. As far as the inspections go, you do not know when the inspector is coming in - either state inspection, or from Pizza Hut Incorporated. It sounds like your store has some issues with ordering. If proper ordering is being done, then you wouldn't have to throw away an entire box of anything. Sometimes items come off the truck in less than desirable condition - if that's the case, give it back to the driver next delivery.
Posted by travisdavis9 on 2008-12-04:
Good for you my man do the right thing good karma will come back to you, I love mushroom, pizza without it isn't pizza.
I seriously hope these goddamn chains dominos, little cesar, poopo John's all go out of business. Did you know poopo John's charge $2 for delivery on top of their overpriced weird pancake syrup sweet sauce pizza? How the heck we suppose to tip the drivers?

Only local business or mom n pops or small chains like Round table/Mountain Mike's operate all pizza establishments.

Delivery range too short
Posted by Dr. Jeecheroo on 08/04/2007
So apparently Pizza Hut won't deliver to where I live because it is "out of range". Well what is Pizza Hut's delivery range? Probably a half-mile radius. At least that's what it seems like. Now Dominos isn't much closer than my local Pizza Hut, but they have no problem delivering to where I live.

I think Pizza Hut just doesn't want to reimburse their deliverers on gas. What a cheap company.

We run into this problem a lot since we live in-between two towns... Most restaurants from either say we should call the other... it gets frustrating when you want to be lazy and just have some dinner delivered... =)
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-08-04:
Why didn't you just go pick it up yourself? Seems to me like the company is not the only one cheap on gas. :)
Posted by Nohandle on 2007-08-04:
The Pizza Hut's in my area don't deliver at all, and never have. I suppose the local franchises decided it was to their advantage not to offer that service. Delivery is nice on a rainy day, isn't it?
Posted by Jambra on 2007-08-04:
I used to deliver pizzas when I was in college. We had a huge area. The people living far from the store were the ones who complained most often about long delivery times. And you'd think they'd be appreciative.

It depends on the company that operates the stores near you, but we reimburse our drivers $1.10 for every delivery they make.
Posted by DPW123 on 2007-11-26:
Are you aware that there has to be a limit to delivery areas? It can't go on forever. You might as well say to a store in Texas "I live in Arizona, you should deliver to me".
Posted by Dr. Jeecheroo on 2007-12-12:
That's far fetched, DPW. I'm talking about in-town delivery.
Posted by trumania on 2007-12-14:
I don't think Pizza drivers get compensated for gas do they? I thought they typically got paid $1.00 per delivery + whatever tips they get.
Posted by HutShiftManager on 2008-01-15:
I can't speak for Domino's. But I know Pizza Hut designs it's delivery areas to be accessible to the majority of the population in the most convienient amount of time. Some towns are very big and it would take take too long to deliver to the outskirts. If domino's wants to handle that one, that's fine, we'll gladly take the 4 other closer deliveries in the time it took that one to go. There has to be a limit.

Worst customer service EVER!!
Posted by Jackiemendez on 04/19/2005
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I was craving garlic bread, so I went to a Pizza Hut at Pico Union Square to order just bread sticks. The cashier charged me and said they will be ready in 15 minutes I thought it was too long for just 5 pieces of bread and it was worse: I ended up waiting for more than 20 minutes! I got the box and went home just to realize 10 minutes later I got chicken wings instead. I, angry, went back and showed the girl what they gave me. She said "Oh, I'll give you bread sticks. Do you want to keep the chicken wings? you'll just have to PAY THE DIFFERENCE". I told her I would like to keep them too but I didn't want to pay anything for them, that was the list I deserved for the incident. She told me "well, I'm sorry for that but if you want to keep the wings you have to pay for them." Or I could keep them just she wouldn't give me my bread sticks. I told her I wouldn't pay and that I wanted my bread sticks because I did pay for bread sticks and showed her the receipt. She kept arguing and saing she wouldn't do that. I asked for the supervisor, her answer was "I am the supervisor". I frustrated ask her, "Are you going to make me pay for the chicken wings after you made me wait 20 minutes for 4 bread sticks and... She interrupted me and said "Not 4, it's 5 bread sticks and you should've checked your order before you went out the store". I told her it was her responsibility to check the orders before you give it to the client. She told me, "It's not my fault, I didn't give you the order" By now I knew I was wasting my time with her "the supervisor" and there were more clients waiting and listening to the argument so gave her the chicken wings back. She got them and trashed them there in front of me and told me "Your bread sticks will be ready in 15 minutes." I went back home and came back for my bread sticks in 20 minutes.

Rule #1 "Never" make someone mad that's preparing your food. Your right, they made a mistake and sounded pretty rude, but you kind of allowed them to waste more of your time in the end.

You went back home? For all that trouble and time you could have made your own breadsticks. Go to your local grocer and buy a BAG of breadsticks to save yourself all that heartache.

The way this episode transpired, I think it was a tie in the "wit department".
Posted by sublimechick on 2005-05-01:
Hi, I used to work for Pizza Hut. I was the shift manager there, going my way up to becoming an assistant manager. Anyways I was there for 3 years and yes we would get plenty of customers that would be so mean and rude and lie just to get free food since we have a policy "customers are always right". Anyways at the other hand, we would get customers like you who got a different order than what they originally made, and in your case, I would gave you the wings plus the breadstick that you had originally ordered and also I would ask if you wanted a future credit or your money refunded along with the wings and breadstick because it was our fault. I do admit that sometimes some of the other employees even managers doesn't want to admit their faults and doesn't care about customers. Well I do. Eventhough I got treated very badly by Pizza Hut management themselves, that's why I walked away (QUIT), I believe that a job is a job and it's my responsibility to take care of customers because I was in charge of my shift. What I suggest to you for next time or for anyone reading this is to right away ask the manager in charge for a number where you can reach the market office to speak to the area coach and it will definetely scare the living hell out of them. I'm sorry for your bad experience at Pizza Hut. Too bad you didn't go to my store when I used to work there or you would've got the best customer service you ever received in your life, because that's where I'm the most expert at :)
Posted by Chet_13 on 2007-07-10:
Sublimechick - so very glad that you're an "expert" at something, but perhaps you should work on your story? In an earlier post, you said you were with Pizza Hut for 5 years. Now that is an awfully big discrepancy.

Everything that Pizza Hut puts into the oven takes (for my PH) 8 minutes, 10 seconds at 440 F to go through. So, even if that is all you ordered, they have to go through the entire time. As pointed out, there are "shift supervisors" and "management". Next time, ask to talk to a MANAGER.

CARY PIZZA HUT - STILL THE WORST, and the Last time we EVER order -
We obtained coupons (online) for a pick-up on 2 pizzas. My wife went to the store, and the cashier refused to give her the discount, stating that the coupons she was using were printed. Well, duh, no kidding, printed from their website.
My wife got the pizzas anyway (our 2 kids were hungry. As she was leaving, she notices THE EXACT SAME COUPONS on the box!!! and they still refused to give her the doscount; even when she requested to see the namager.
Absolute morons...... We are through with EVER partonizing this franchise again.

Disrespect to Customer
Posted by Dwdollbaby on 03/11/2014
TOWSON, MARYLAND -- Manager disrespectful. I truly had a bad experience. The first was a Book It pizza I ordered for my granddaughter. I ordered a sausage pizza and they gave us cheese but took it back. Then instead of giving us a new sausage pizza, they threw some sausage on top of the cheese pizza and gave it back. I didn't say anything and accepted it instead of arguing for a new one which they should have given us. Then while biting my second slice of my stuffed crust sausage pizza I found a piece of hair in my pizza. When I reported it the waitress asked me if I wanted a new pizza or my ticket discounted. This was the first time I ever had this happen so I didn't know what to say. I asked how much was the discount cause I really wasn't feeling another chance of hair. She asked at the counter and I heard the manager say," She's not getting it for free." I wasn't looking for free' We did order the pizza and we did have three and a half slices before I saw the hair. It was clearly under the undisturbed cheese, not on top. He made me feel as if I put it there to get free food which I didn't. I didn't want free just courtesy.

Delivery Times and Telephone Issues
Posted by Nicolefrazier86 on 01/12/2014
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI -- The telephone line to Pizza Hut is a constant busy signal. It's been like that for the last two days now. You can't call to place an order and when you are able to get a delivery its such a long wait time for a delivery. When you finally get your order delivered your food will be cold or either they don't get it right. This issue needs to be fixed asap it's just plain ridiculous and very very unprofessional. You guys need to get more better on your customer service skills.
