MONTGOMERY, TEXAS -- I was sitting in the lobby of this Popeye's restaurant, at 14631 Highway 105 West in Montgomery, Texas, with my family eating our dinner. My fries were old, and I told one of the workers who was running around busting her butt for everyone. She was wearing the only green shirt there, so I'll refer to her as Green Shirt, and she had a head set thing on and was helping the people at the drive thru, while helping her coworker at the front, and I caught her attention and told her my fries were old and asked for fresh ones. She never dropped her smile the entire time, and without missing a beat she said, "Of course, I'll go drop fresh ones for you now and bring them out when they're done."
She personally went to where the fryers were, put the fries in herself, and went about doing other things that needed to be done. When my fries were ready, she brought them out with a smile, and I thanked her.

Well, five minutes later, an elder man comes in and was trying to order, but you could tell the girl on front counter was having a hard time with putting what he wanted into a button on her register. The elder man started getting angry, raised his voice, which caught all the Popeye's employees, and my family's, attention. The other employees were obviously really busy working the drive thru, but here comes Green Shirt to the rescue!

She had her wonderful smile on, asked the gentleman exactly what he wanted, took all his berating and his foul language that he was directing at the girl that had been working the register, as she stood next to Green Shirt.

Ms. Green Shirt apologized, sympathized with him, even though he was talking about how the young (her) generation is going nowhere in life, she kept her smile, put his order on cash register, packaged every thing he ordered, and had it all bagged up before he could even get his change. He continued to talk negative to her, and all she did was smile and was nothing but respectful and understanding. She even gave him a free apple pie for his "troubles" and wished him back to visit that Popeyes once again.

As soon as he left, she ran back over to her coworkers at the drive thru, and started boxing their chicken, boxing biscuits, and making sides. She is incredible! She not only did her job, she did everyone else's as well. She is an incredible worker, and a great person in general.
Right after the elder man left, my family and I were cleaning our mess and I went up to her to compliment her. She only smiled and said she didn't deserve it, that no matter what her main goal is to keep the customer happy, and boy, she excels at it! We will be returning to this Popeyes store, mainly because of Ms. Green Shirt's amazing-ness.
Oh, I did ask her name, and her name is: Amber.

If you go to this Popeyes and Ms. Amber, a.k.a Green Shirt, is working, you will not have a bad experience EVER!!!

77 Yr Senior Experienced KNIFE Fight by Mgr While at Restaurant
Posted by Mother.olive.blake on 07/23/2013
3622 AUBURN ST. ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS -- Sun. July 21, 2013 went to restaurant to get dinner around 8:00PM. Fight broke out between Mgr. & woman, while I was asked to sit in parking lot & wait for food. Just getting to box to order was too long. 10 min. in 80+ weather. Then asked to drive out in traffic around to parking lot & then wait again. after waiting again, fight broke out in parking lot between Mgr. & woman, cursing, then fist fighting, then he went in & came out w/ very large knife & threw it across lot @ woman who started fight by slapping mgr. first & cursing. 3 others got out of car & beat Mgr. when staff freed him that's when he went inside and got knife. 4 other cars in lot . All afraid. Others could have guns. I laid down in car til Police came. I still waited for my meal. No one came out.

After about one half hr. I went to window while police still there. Girl waitress was still shaken & confused, but gave meal. This was too much!

Please clean up that staff, but not window waitress. never before experienced anything like this. woman wrong but mgr. could have hurt someone else. Temper like this is unsafe for other employees & patrons.

Personally speaking, in a situation such as the one you describe, I would have put my personal safety before a chicken dinner and been out of there.

Charging 1.99 for Water
Posted by Vargasrvb on 06/28/2013
I order a meal with water. The employee told me that now they are charging 1.99 for water, no matter it comes from the soda fountaine (tap water). Since then I have never eaten again in Popeye's.

New Wicked Chicken Is "Leftover Pieces"
Posted by Mitchellbillings on 06/16/2013
PONCHATULA, LOUISIANA -- It's Father's Day! I drove up expecting some good Popeye's Chicken. Saw the sign for new "Wicked Chicken." Sounds good so I ordered it to go. Got home to find it was a "wicked trick." It's just tiny leftover pieces of chicken that has been trimmed from other pieces. About 80% breading and 20% chicken! At first I couldn't identify it and thought they had messed up my order. Nope, this is it.

I feel you are wasting your money on this Wicked Chicken. Sounds like a new way to get rid of bits and pieces!!

this is so true. their "WICKED CHICKEN" is a rip off! I bought it before and it's like everything popeye's has is a rip off for the price. Stick to Churches and you will get a better deal for your money!

Senior Citizen special
Posted by Edcar111 on 11/25/2012
OAK PARK, ILLINOIS -- I frequently visit the Popeyes Chicken on Madison st. in Oak Park Il. After placing my order I informed the person at the drive up window that I am a senior citizen and I would like my free drink. She told me that this particular franchise does not honor this benefit. I asked her if she was sure so she asked the manager to come to the window. The manager agreed with her so I did not pursue the issue. My question to you is, does this offer only apply to certain franchises ?

I'm sure you've heard the catch-phrase "at participating locations only". I've been to some franchise locations that do not accept coupons either. Some establishments give their franchise owners leeway with these types of things.
Posted by Tezrien on 2012-11-25:
Of course it does.
Posted by FoDaddy19 on 2012-11-25:
Different franchises have different policies. Franchise owners are free to set their own polices. For example the Popeyes ran a nationwide special on X amount of chicken for X amount of dollars, the individual franchise owners can chose not to participate if they don't want to, and charge whatever price they want. As you found out not all Popeyes franchises give out free drinks to seniors, it's simply a business decision that the franchise owner made.

Some Popeye's offer a 10% off discount for seniors, some offer a free drink, and others offer nothing. It is up to the individual location.

Bad Customer Service
Posted by Artblancia on 09/11/2012
MISSOURI CITY, TEXAS -- 9/11/2012 at around 3:35pm, here in Missouri City, Texas, Store is located in 4850 Hwy 6 South, near fort bend toll road. I was at the drive through, ordering for the chicken Tuesday Special. The female sales representative took my order but she was not paying attention. And then she asked me again for my order three times and again I said "four orders of Tuesday Mild Chicken." She replied to me with a yelling / screaming manner and then right before she end my order, she said "and get out of my way!" When I reached the window to pay, I asked the black female cashier who was helping me in the drive through, she said "I'm so sorry, I had a rough day, but I was not helping you." Then I asked to see her manager because I believed it was not right for treating me this way. As the female manager was approaching the window, her name is SHAFAQ, she started telling me that they were talking (referring to her two female staff) when in fact this manager came from the front store taking orders, while her two female staff were at the back of the store. I said "stop, before you say something LISTEN first." I started telling her what exactly happen at the drive through, while the other two female staff were arguing about the incident. I said "somebody made me angry right now," and they refused to tell me who was helping me at the drive through." I told the manager to re-educate her staff regarding good customer service. This is not the first time that happen to me, it happened also before. Most of the staff at this store location has a terrible customer service / very bad manners / ghetto behaviors. Who knows if they are handling our food clean and safe. l live very near to this store location and from now on I will take our business somewhere else where there is happy people and good manners and good customer service.

What does it matter if the cashiers were black or white? So what if her name is Shafaq? You seem very focused on the color of their skin, and when you mentioned the word "ghetto" it makes you sound a bit racist.

I agree with you Josie.

Popeye's Discontinued Spicy Honey Mustard
Posted by Smithchip on 09/11/2012
OLATHE, KANSAS -- I went to Popeye's last week and much to my surprise ran into a major issue... NO MORE SPICY HONEY MUSTARD to dip my spicy chicken strips in!!! Boy was I upset about this! So, I asked the manager what the deal was. She said that corporate decided to discontinue it. She went on to say that many of their customers are very upset with this decision and she personally thought it was the stupidest decision they could have ever made. Too bad, because you couldn't beat those spicy chicken strips with that perfectly blended spicy honey mustard. Great news though, I have attached the Popeye's Recipe for their discontinued Spicy Honey Mustard. Enjoy!!!

Popeye's Mardi Gras Honey Mustard Recipe
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Zatarain's Creole mustard
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish (Kraft cream-style)
2 ½ teaspoons sugar or Splenda sugar substitute

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl; blend well. Let sit a half hour or longer to let the flavors blend.
Serve as a dipping sauce with chargrilled blackened chicken strips or other cooked chicken or shrimp.

Makes about 2 1/2 cups

I totally agree with you Spicy Honey Mustard was great and a primary reason I went to Popeye's. I like the inclusion of the recipe but you listed the Mardi Gras Mustard Recipe(not great, still offered)instead of the Spicy Honey Mustard Recipe (Amazing, Discontiued). Please post Spicy Honey Mustard Recipe in this comment thread if you have it.

Rude/Unconcern about customer comfort!!!
Posted by Janetlbanks on 09/04/2012
321 WEST 125TH STREET, NEW YORK -- On 9/3/12 @ 16:53 I was in line placing my order. A previous customer tried to get the servers attention several times after I placed my order, stating that there was not any toilet tissue in the bathroom! It was very obvious she was being ignored!! Finally the "manager" came up to the window along side of the server and asked what she wanted! She stated again that she really needed to pee badly and that there is no tissue in the room could she have a few napkins now!!! After a sigh by the manager she gave her a few napkins.( Several of us in line started looking in our purses to see if we had any tissues for her to use!! By this time the door had locked again and she had to find someone to unlock the door. It would not have surprised me that this lady did not WET here pants right there in front of the cashier!! This young lady was very courteous trying to be patient and was just ignored!!! This is unacceptable for a store as busy as this one, they should always have someone checking the supplies in the restrooms.
The employees in this store for the most part are discourteous and rude and inpatient!!

Price ripoff inconsistency
Posted by 1angela.knox on 08/03/2012
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- would like to make a formal complaint. I go to Popeyes a lot and go to different locations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I always get a breast and a wing. The price is always between $3.10 and $3.13 depending on the tax in that particular and I get what I ask for. When I go to the store located at 683 Boulevard Atlanta, Georgia my price is never the same. Today, August 3, 2012 around 11:35 and was greeted by Nicole who told me that my order would be $3.85 cent. Knowing that at this location they always give me an extra biscuit. Thinking that was the reason for the higher price. I asked that they take the 2nd biscuit out and reduce the price. I was told by the manager MS. [snip] that she could not break it up like that. I told her that I never have that problem with any other store and their prices are always the same and if they took the biscuit out I would be the same price. I left to go to another location and came back to get the managers name, store address and phone number. Ms [snip]said that she was manager and that she would help me as much as she could and wanted to know why I wanted the information. Initially, I told her that it was because have lied to me and overcharged me. She continued to tell me about the difference in manager stores. I said that shouldn't matter because the price should be standard and they do not change. Then she said that she could give me a Senior citizens discount which wool take it down to $3.40. I was going to purchase it there but I went to the store on Lee street store #2108. I would like to commend them because of the excellent service I get.

Fast food stores do not always have the same pricing which is mostly due to different overhead at different locations.
Posted by FoDaddy19 on 2012-08-03:
Big Al is correct. Even stores less than 5 miles apart can have different prices. Nobody is getting ripped off here. You weren't lied to nor were you overcharged.
Posted by trmn8r on 2012-08-03:
From the description of what happened, the second biscuit was not the issue. The fact is, this item costs more at this particular store.

It isn't the case that prices are standardized across stores. I'm not sure this was a "ripoff".

Was the price advertised on the menu, and did it match what you were charged?

Corporate office does not handle complaints
Posted by Candice_gaston on 07/10/2012
DALLAS -- I went to Popeyes and when I got home the order was wrong, the lemonade tasted like water, and they didn't give me a specific piece of chicken I requested. I called the store and told the manager what happened and I told her I was on my way back. Instead of replacing the entire order with hot food she only wanted to fix what they got wrong. I insisted that I get hot food because by the time I travel back home the original food I purchased would be cold. She got angry and coped an attitude so I asked for a refund instead, she took the food and trashed it and said she couldn't give me any cash back since I used my debit card it would have to be put back on there. Needless to say that was back in May, I never saw my refund put back on my card. I have called the corporate office several times and no one has yet to call me back I even spoke with the district manager of that particular store and still I have not gotten my refund. I guess they must need the money really bad due to the recession because its like they are refusing to return my money.

Most fast food restaurants will only replace the food that was missing or prepared wrong or . I don't think you were justified in demanding a fresh order, just what was missing. As far as your refund goes, if you entered your PIN number, then it was basically a cash transaction and she could of given you cash. If your card was swiped with no pin entered, she probably had to refund the card. Either way, you are entitled to your money back.
