IN SHOCK!!

MEDFORD, NEW YORK -- I had an accident back in June with one of Progressive's insured. I was driving straight in my lane, when out of nowhere, this guy in an SUV hit the driver's side of my car and sent me off the road into a telephone pole. There was a witness and everything. She said he was talking on his cell phone, he didn't see me until the last minute and tried to jerk the truck back but it was too late... he had already hit me. Well, he lied in his statement claiming I was in the shoulder.

I had a feeling that the insurance company would give me a hard time so I consulted with an attorney who gave me the idea to write a letter to the witness asking her to state that I was not in the shoulder and that I never left my lane. So I did, and she wrote back stating that there was no possible way I could've been in the shoulder because there were cars parked there. There is a small shopping center so cars usually do park there. She said I was in the lane when he hit me.

Well, Progressive did not care about anything she had to say in her statement. They did not care about the letter she sent back to me, they didn't care that he was on the cell phone... they pretty much just don't care!! They closed my claim only six weeks after the accident. Luckily, my insurance company, GEICO, does not find me at fault. The adjustor at Progressive gave me an estimate for my car AND told me it looked like liability was in my favor! Next thing I know, they're telling me I'm not getting anything from them.

Listen to how stupid this sounds: It's illegal to drive in the shoulder, but it's also illegal to talk on a cell phone, right? So even if I was in the shoulder, which I wasn't, and it's illegal, shouldn't he be somewhat at fault if it's illegal to talk on a cell phone? You'd think so, right? This was their excuse: The police officer did not issue him a ticket for being on the cell phone, therefore, to Progressive, he was never on his cell phone!! Ridiculous!! I guess they treat their insured's okay, but when it comes to the people their insured's hurt, they could give two poops!!

So the point of this is to tell people: Try to avoid accidents as best as you can because if they're a driver insured with Progressive and it's their fault, YOU PROBABLY WON'T GET ANYTHING FROM THEM... EVEN WITH A WITNESS!! They're liars and they're cheap! My car was worth $2000 lousy dollars and they couldn't even give that to me!! Hopefully GEICO will be relentless and make them pay all of my medical bills!! As for right now, I'm without a car and this liar gets to drive around in his truck still with a few scratches on it!!

PHOENIX, CALIFORNIA -- Unauthorized charge of $3,244 over drafted my account. Bank unable to resolve claim for up to 10 days. Progressive unable to do anything to reverse the charge within any reasonable time. Concerned about other things bouncing, closing my bank account and loss of income for my family and many others.

Had Progressive Insurance for 1 year and have had other insurance companies for my RV insurance and never charge me a cancellation fee! Now after 1 year with them they are charging me a cancellation fee of $30.00 and ask them why and said it was California and I know damn well it's not a fee that the state charges just masking it to make it look like it's not them! But I know better, I recommend that you may use another company! I will never use them again.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I've been with Progressive since 2013. I haven't gotten into any accidents for more than 5 years, no citations and my bill is paid on time. Each and every renewal my monthly bill goes up. Since I've been with them it has increased by $60-$70. Every time I speak with them of why it is always the same thing, "The rates have gone up in your area." No help and it just keeps increasing. Won't recommend them at all.

Imagine that you have to call an insurance company and beg for a billing. Then when you do call you have to take all kinds of crap about why they can't help you. It's hard to imagine attempting to file any kind of claim with these people. Stay away, stay far away!

I'm Frozen To Death And Progressive Says "Hang In There"

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- 12/9/13, I was in an accident in Illinois while trying to get to safety in a blizzard. Filed a claim with Progressive. My representative ** out of Sacramento, CA took the claim and assigned it to a very young boy in his late teens to early 20's. His business card says senior adjuster. He requested that I drive the RV to a repair shop of his choosing. It was very clear that the vehicle was not road worth due to large panels and other items handing if not falling off the RV.

I said are you kidding? He answered why? I replied are you now joking? He said no. I said you drive the RV and I'll follow in your truck. He refused and said I can't do that, and I said I am not willing to kill someone should these parts fly off and hit someone. Mind you it was 10-15 degrees below zero at the time. So I was forced to secure the parts so I did not kill anyone. The adjuster sat in his warm truck and watched me secure all the parts for the trip to the shop.

The shop wrote an estimate, the adjuster requested I fax it to him, but he failed to mention the fax number on his card was disconnected. I had to wait 4 days in a parking lot and nearly froze to death, after several calls to the adjuster, he decided to call back. He stated that the fax number was to a office that closed down a year ago. And he gave me the correct fax number. It's my belief this is a tactic to delay payment. When he received the estimate, he called and started asking me questions about the estimate swaying toward the denial of damages.

I have been dealing with this incompetent lazy kid for over a week, while I'm disabled in a parking lot in subzero temps for over a week. And still no result, I can go on and on how this company's main concern is to procrastinate the claim. I will file lawsuit for far more than this claim should have paid. I will also make it a full time job to make sure no one else falls in their trap.

Dropped me with inadequate notice after 15 years

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I have had Progressive Insurance since May 1998. My policy has been paid automatically for at least the last 10 years. I've never had a claim with them and haven't had a ticket for 5-6 years. Last September they raised my rates 40% for no reason. When I called for an explanation, Progressive said that the entire state of Oregon will be raising insurance rates due to some new law. We then talked about lowering my rates by going "paperless" and prepaying a 6 month policy rather than paying every month. So I prepaid for 6 months and was content.

Last Friday, 5/3/13 I was rear ended by an insured motorist. So I call my insurance company from the scene of the accident, file a report, receive a claim number, and waited to hear back. 4 days later I after leaving 4 messages with my Progressive "adjuster", she finally called me to tell me that I didn't have insurance with them anymore. That it expired on 4/2/2013 due to non payment of renewal. In 15 years I've never had to do anything to renew. It's always been automatic.

Then they proceed to tell me that 6 month policies don't automatically renew, and that I was supposed to call, mail, or pay online. Again, in 15 years I've never had to do this. AND, they even sent me new insurance cards good 3/2013-9/2013. They had an old email address on file so I didn't get the renewal emails. They never mailed or called me. ONLY email.

All of the billing information they had from me was current, all they had to do was charge me. I had no idea that I didn't have insurance. Never had a lapse in all of the time I had them. So then I asked them if I reinstated my policy if they could still help me. The other insurance company of the guy that hit me is taking 100% liability, and it costs my insurance company nothing. Just time to help me in dealing with the other insurance company. THEY REFUSED!

They took my money for 15 years, and the one time I needed them, mysteriously my policy didn't renew, and they gave me the cold shoulder. So much for their commercials about "being there" for their clients. Why would they send me new insurance cards for a policy that didn't renew? Why would I call them from the scene of an accident if I didn't think I had insurance with them?

Why didn't they tell me when I called from the scene of the accident that I didn't have insurance? Why not send me something in the mail or a certified letter? And once again, there was 0% liability to them in this situation. STAY CLEAR of Progressive insurance! They WILL screw you over if given the chance.

My dad had Progressive insurance for 10 years, but we noticed for the past few years that his rates were going up for no reason. His last renewal notice was high by almost $500, so he called them to clarify last week. They informed him that he had 2 points on his history and as a result his rate increased.

He was shocked because he was not aware of this, so he went to the DMV to retrieve his full vehicle history, and noticed that it was spotless other than a 4 stop sign he ran in early 2011; not given any points for it. I called them the next day so they could rectify this, and the lady was very rude but gave me the fax number to send over the papers from the DMV, she said that I could check back the next day to ensure they had received it.

I called the next evening and spent close to 3 hours dealing with this situation. As it turns out, Progressive "awards" points to their drivers if they have any violations, whether their driving records are clean or not. She knew that this was not showing on my dad's driving history, but regardless, they still increased his rates.

I requested proof of paperwork for this, and she told me that she could only give me a paper with the date of the violation, but not the point system given as this was an "internal decision", so regardless she couldn't help us. Not only were the news bad, but the way I was provided this information was rude and this lady sounded bothered to be on the phone with me.

I am very upset with them because despite my dad's loyalty to them, they have had no consideration towards him. I got on the phone with Geico right after that and the lady I spoke to was nice and pleasant, and you can really tell the difference in training that these company associates receive. We also insured his home with Geico at the same time. I have never put a complaint before against anyone, but this has tipped me over, and I will tell as many people as I can, not insure with Progressive.

IDAHO -- I was rear ended from a person insured by Progressive. After a week or two of waiting for them to get back to me, they told me to take my car to Lithia Ford in Boise to get an estimate. We did only to find out that we needed to make an appointment with ONLY their own examiner to look at the car. Now it is over a month and they sent someone who was supposed to call me, the owner to meet with them to look at the car. The guy they sent out to the site where the car was left a check on the front seat for $552.28 to replace a new back bumper, fix the trunk and electric trunk opener, fix the tail pipe, replace the crushed license plate and repaint.

I was outraged and called Todd to see how he came up with amount. I asked him if he was going to do all that work for $552.28 (Which was less than half of all the estimates we got from repair shops.) Had to ask him twice. He told me no, that he does not do repairs. I called Progressive and had them set up an appointment at the shop so I could have a qualified estimator look at the car. Then the original adjuster's supervisor called me to tell me not to bring it in and that the check amount and claim would stand.

I have already called my agent to have her switch me from Progressive on all my toys and I will spread the news about these frauds anywhere I can. We are also doing up a complaint with the Bureau of Insurance. I am not looking for a new car, just a reasonable settlement at least close to what the estimates we got from reputable shops were. DO NOT GO WITH PROGRESSIVE!!! Try Safeco or anyone else. You get what you pay for.

GLOBE, ARIZONA -- Monday night a deer jumped in front of our car and my wife couldn't avoid hitting it. It damaged the front passenger side so badly that I couldn't open the passenger door. Tuesday morning at 6:30AM I called Progressive. They assured me that they would send someone out to inspect the vehicle on Thursday. I asked, "Why not today?" Their response was "Tomorrow is a holiday". Thursday came and went, without a phone call or a representative as scheduled. I emailed my claim representative and received no response. I called and she said she didn't know anything about it, although I talked to her on Tuesday.

She called back and said that it would be a week before someone could come to look at the car. When I asked why, she said it was because I live two hours from her office. So it's not okay for Progressive (The paid service provider) to be inconvenienced for a few hours, but it is okay for me (The paying customer) to be inconvenienced a whole week without a car to drive. They are supposed to provide a rental car, which they are clearly putting off as long as they can. They didn't even give me a courtesy call to let me know they weren't showing up on their originally scheduled day.

When I complained about the week delay, she suggested I just keep driving my banged up vehicle because it was still "drivable". So what am I supposed to do, jump in and out of the window like the Dukes of Hazard? When I switched over from State Farm, Progressive promised me equal or better service. That was a lie because State Farm would never take more than a day to inspect the vehicle, would never make me wait a week for my rental car, and would never suggest I drive an unsafe, damaged vehicle.
