Good subs Bad franchise! Depends on which location you're going, so trick to hungers!

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- The Quizno in Hammerly Plaza on Gessner in Houston TX, such a
bad quality, you can count how many slices of lettuce they put. Bread is toasted, burnt on the edge, but still cold and soggy? How ridiculous! The mesquite chicken sandwich taste yuck, it has skin on it, never get mesquite chicken like this anywhere else beore.
No wonder Quizno closed down so many!
Luckily I can get some hot and crispy Quizno subs back to sugarland.

All the Quiznos around here closed up. Quiznos is apparently the worst franchise to get into according to one of my business law professors. Low franchise start up fee + TONS of heavy fees later on = disaster. Although I like their food, I can't say I miss them too much.

Rude and Doesn't Honor Coupons
Posted by on
I printed out coupons for any sandwich, chips and drink for $2.99. When I presented it to the girl at the register the girl told me they are not accepting that coupon. Then the owner behind her came over and asked if there was a problem. When he I held up the coupon he rudely stated "NO... we are not honoring that coupon!!" I asked why not and he loudly just stated the same thing "NO we are not honoring that coupon"!!! No explanation as to why... and just walked away and stared at me.

I was so embarrassed by his rudeness that I went ahead and ordered a sandwich but I will never go back there again.

There was probably a good reason for not honoring the coupon, but it should have been politely explained to you instead of treating you like a criminal. I'm surprised you went ahead and ordered. I would have left.
Starlord on 2010-08-26:
Many places do not honor coupons printed out on a home printer. This is perfectly within their right, as every promotion has the discalimer, "At participating locations only." There is nothing that says they have to take part in the promotion, and they do not have to give you an explanation, it is their own policy. Rudeness, is demanding an explanation as to why they do not honor home-printed coupons or why theo not take part in a promotion. The answer is simple. It is their right as a franchise holder.
Anonymous on 2010-08-26:
I'm with Venice. With that attitude, I would've left, sandwich or not.
Venice09 on 2010-08-26:
Alex, I'm pretty easy going and overlook a lot, but if someone yells at me, that's it. As I said, I'm sure there is a good reason they wouldn't take the coupon and the owner might be tired of explaining it, but it's never acceptable to yell at a customer. The owner should certainly know better than to behave so inappropriately.
Anonymous on 2010-08-26:
If Quiznos doesn't want to honor coupons printed at home, then they shouldn't post them on their website: http://quiznos.com/coupon.html

Agree with Venice and Alex, it may be at participating locations only, but no customer deserves to be yelled at, it's not like it says on the coupon itself which locations will/won't accept them.

I would have walked out w/o ordering, too.
Anonymous on 2010-08-26:
I used to always print coupons and take them to Quiznos never had a problem with them taking it. The food is grossly overpriced anyway those coupons will bring them some business. No wonder all the Quzinos near me shut down.
SaMoore on 2010-08-26:
I agree wallyworld. I understand that some locations may not take coupons but how is the consumer to know which ones do and which ones don't? It can be just too confusing. I would have taken my business elsewhere with a rude manager like that one.
Anonymous on 2010-08-26:
I get coupons all the time online from different companies. I print them out, and have never had a problem. I think the owner is just a cheapskate scrooge. I would have just walked out and not ordered a THING from them. I like Quiznos, but they ARE grossly overpriced. Their commercials are annoying too.
leet60 on 2010-08-26:
Well the coupon clearly says "valid only at participating U.S. Quiznos". There is no requirement for them to honor it, it is up to the location.

That aside, the customer should have been treated much better.
Ytropious on 2010-08-28:
The reason is because Quiznos forces inflated food prices on their owners, and then hits them again with unprofitable coupons. Most Quiznos barely turn a profit, and with corporate hitting them with inflated costs and low price coupons, the owners just can't win. Ever wonder why so many Quiznos close? That is why. Corporate is working against the owners really. I can respect the owners position not to accept the coupon, and you should too now seeing the plight they are in. Direct the hate at corporate.

I have heard Quiznos kitten comercial many time the cats voices on the comercial is so annoying. It's the worst comercial I've ever heard. I just want to throw the remote through the TV every time I here it. Whenever it's on I mute the TV and leave the room because it's so annoying. I wish I could go the Quiznos headquarters and punch who ever the guy is that decided to come up with this commercial it's so F'n annoying. Then Quiznos decides to come out with another commercial with the cats with there dollar menu which is just as annoying as the first one again I mute the TV and leave I can't stand it.

There are several commercial I cannot stand, either because they are annoying or because they are too long. Actually, I dislike commercials in general, especially when they are interrupting a particularly riveting tv show or movie. I simply change the channel for a couple minutes until I know my program is back on. Muting the tv and leaving the room seems like overkill.

BTW: you probably won't find the creator of this commercial at the Quiznos Home Office. Large Companies like this generally use outside marketing agencies.
MRM on 2010-08-05:
Its not cats voice that annoys me, its that jingle song (Three Blind Mice) that they were playing. But I still wouldn't go out and buy one and never will as it is overpriced.

I agree that this is the worst commercial ever made. It looks like it was made in someone's garage at a cost of $12. Even if someone finds the kitties cute, can you understand even one word of what they are singing? It seems that much like their food, Quizno's commercials have gone down the tube.

Food Poisoning and No Response?
Posted by on
HURST, TEXAS, TEXAS -- On Mar 4th 2010, my wife and I stopped by a Quizno's located in the city of Hurst, Tx on Pipeline Dr. She ordered a sandwich, I got a sandwich and a cup of chicken soup. The soup tasted odd from the beginning, not quite hot enough?...within 12hrs, I was exploding from both ends! Sick as a dog, shaking sick, sick, sick, sick. I knew it was that soup, no doubt a case of food poisoning. The next day after I recovered (I got angry) thinking...I paid money, to get that sick. So went in search of a way to lodge a complaint. Quizno's website will only let you email directly to the store in question, so I did so, lodged my complaint. Then went in search of Corporate Office, finally after a long and tedious search got somebody human on the phone who took my complaint. And here we are almost three months later, and not one single, not one..."were sorry letter", "action taken letter", "here a free coupon" (not that I will ever eat there or any Quizno's again)...seriously all I wanted was my money back...my 10$! Wasn't looking for a huge "food poisoning lawsuit"...maybe just a "sorry, we turned you inside out for a night", and here is your money back. But to get "no response at all" feels like a kick in the testicles.

Went back this morning to try to lodge another complaint about there lack of response..but there Corporate Office line is nothing but "robotic", "cold", and you can never get anyone human without waiting for half a day on the phone. Its exactly the way they want it, they think (or hope) complaints will just go away.

I've had a friend get food poisoning from a restaurant recently as well. Same response, they didn't want to reimburse or take any liability. It's unfortunate, but I bet a lot of people could come back a few days later and claim to have had food poisoning and wanting a refund...even though you KNOW it must have been that soup, its really hard to prove that your food poisoning did indeed come from that one source. You wouldn't win a lawsuit anyway.
FlShopper on 2010-05-13:
If a lot of people all complain about food poisoning after having visited a restaurant on the same day, then it's a lot easier to prove the claim. You may have been at the very beginning of a stomach virus and not have known it, and the soup (or any other food) could've exacerbated the problem.
But whether or not the soup was the culprit, they still should've given you the courtesy of a reply.
Nohandle on 2010-05-13:
I don't doubt for a moment you found yourself ill. The sad part is these restaurants many times don't even acknowledge a complaint for fear of admitting liability. Also, people in the past would do just about anything for a free meal or a gift certificate for a decent sum. In addition if the meal wasn't satisfactory for one person the entire table should be compensated.

Should your complaint have been acknowledged? Of course. Should they have done everything possible to make amends? Of course. Few restaurants do that now. I guess Quizno's is among them.
Ytropious on 2010-05-13:
The thing is, it's hard to prove food poisoning if only one person got sick. They don't want to admit fault if legitimately nothing was wrong with their product from a PR standpoint. If there was a large issue with a batch of their soup, everyone who ate that soup would have gotten sick. Think of everything you ate that day, or the day before. Possible something else might have caused it?
Weedwhacked on 2010-05-13:
You have to think about it in Quizno's viewpoint. You have to be able to prove that their soup made you sick. They know this which is why they're not responding like you want them to.
CrystalSword on 2010-05-13:
I've noticed occasionally that if I'm feeling the least bit off my norm for a day, nothing tastes like it should and I might try it again a couple days later and it is fine....you could have just been having an "off" day.
gnspaulus on 2012-07-12:
QUIZNO's - food poisoning, YES! But, my fault for eating at a Quizno's connected to a gas station on the highway. When traveling, one should always "grab lunch on the run" from a stand alone reputable establishment. The fast food places attached to gas stations are NOT the best choice.
Darian on 2013-02-20:
I'm curious what city this Quiznos is in. A friend of mine and I both became seriously ill after eating at a Quiznos that was attached to a gas station off a freeway.
I was hung up on when I phoned explaining our situation.
Multible emails sent and never a response.

Loss of a good, loyal customer
Posted by on
KAMLOOPS -- I have been a Loyal customer ordering from this establishment for a while. I usually work through my lunch hour and order the same thing, salad, sandwich and a beverage. After receiving a lot of deliveries, and enjoying the food very much, I started convincing ALL my co-working staff members to order from there, because they deliver and the food is great. I even convinced those who hold large, long meetings to get delivery from there. Today when I tried to make an order for delivery to my work place. But after I told her where this order was to be delivered (THE INDIAN BAND OFFICE) I was told I didn't qualify for delivery.

All I got to say is, "IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM DELIVERING TO THE INDIAN RESERVE, IT SHOULD HAVE STATED AS SUCH ON ALL THE MENUS EACH RESIDENCE ON THIS RESERVE RECEIVED FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!"

it sounds like the OP wants to make it sound like it's an anti-native American thing but ... since we don't know where the reservation is in relation to the restaurant, it indeed could be a simple distance issue and nothing more than that

memoryx57 on 2010-02-26:
MissMarple is the only one on target here. The OP states that they have been delivering orders to her workplace for some time now. Did you by chance ask them why they were no longer delivering to your area? I know it's probably aggrevating but I would probably give them the benefit of the doubt until I know differently.
PepperElf on 2010-02-26:
ah my bad
I was under the impression that the rez delivery was at a different location than the previous ones

perhaps the company policy has changed then?
Ytropious on 2010-02-27:
I don't think it has anything to do with being on an indian reservation, it sounds more like it was outside their delivery area.

Store Management And Food Prep
Posted by on
VACAVILLE, CALIFORNIA -- I'm a former employee that worked their about a year ago I left the establishment because of the manager/owners way of running the place. All I have to say about the place that the management or only manager is not certified to be running the store. She uses expired sauces for dressings believe me she has made the bottles her self stinginess is causing people to stop coming. She has made employees skimp on the meat the veggies the cheeses because it cost to much! so as a former employee and customer I can say proudly I will never go their again ever or to any Quiznos period. By the way CORP should go check out the conditions more often than they do because they are using items way past expiration date like they just change the label or put a new one on top of the old label.

I have actually seen the former manager pick up a piece of bread of the floor and put it in the bread shelf for reuse for a customers sandwich that just made the icing on the cake. So people if you like Quiznos just keep a good eye and ask if the meats and cheeses are fresh because they could be like 4 days old on account of the location and the business there is HELLA slow trust I used to work every night BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

granted one of the girls there did drop her bandage in a pizza but she got in trouble for it. and the people who found the bandage got compensated. (I never did like that girl back then)

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I work at a Quiznos. My boss tells me to put less meat on the subs that is required. and less cheese. When I'm working with her I do as told. When I'm not working with her I make the best subs ever. I put the correct everything on it and make it worth the money. I have customers that come in when I'm working just to get a sub made by me. I don't agree with my boss at all. She is very rude to customers. One of the workers once filled someones bowl of soup about half way when they weren't looking because it was "to go" and they wouldn't notice.

It makes me so angry. We are losing business and I wish I could just take over and everything would be so much better! She is so cheap with everything in the store.

Sounds like you have an ethical issue to deal with. If the boss is the owner of the franchise, and is asking you to take action detrimental to the customer, your options are to agree or quit. If your boss is not the owner of the franchise, your options are to talk to the owner of the franchise about the issue, agree to the action, or quit. If you take the right action, you will probably be better off for it in the long run. Just remember that in the next job, don't bad-mouth the ex-employer. Say something like "we had differences in our commitment to excellent customer service, and felt it was best to part company."

Absolutely disgusting
Posted by on
WATERLOO -- The last two visits I had with the Quiznos sub franchise was extremely disappointing. About a month ago I ordered their chicken noodle soup, which is (to be honest) a pretty idiot proof menu item. However, the first thing the soup reminded me of was cat food. It smelled and tasted like cat food. It was horrible. TOday, I found their cheese brocoli soup to be equally disgusting. Furthermore, I tried to contact the company to make them aware of my complaint personally, but I was unable to find such an opportunity. I hope someone realizes they are selling terrible products and makes drastic changes immediately.

I don't know that I would order soup at a place that specializes in subs. Same reason I have never tried the soup Mickey's D's has had in my area for a couple years.

Most of that stuff comes in cans, a paste, or something else the store has to simply reconstitute and heat.

To contact them, www.quiznos.com, then in the top right of the main page, click "customer feedback". very simple process.

Well.... I won't knock the OP on the "cat food soup" concept.

In my experience it IS possible to know this without ever tasting cat food, because when you're smelling something you're getting a combination of olfactory nerves and taste buds

it's usually subtle, you don't notice it unless you have a cold
or if you're smelling something really strong - like Hydrocloric acid, cat food, the person next to you who just let out a paint-peeling fart...

basically... it's not that someone knows how cat food tastes...it's just that the food tastes the same way cat food smells.

my first time eating anchovies was pretty similar.

Managers behavior
Posted by on
SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA -- I have had an issue with inappropriate conversations between a manager and a teenage employee involing her father and having had an affair with him. First I don't care one way or the other about an affair because I have known this manager for years, and do not believe her. However, I believe that it is in appropriate to have a discussion about your sex life and/or an affair with a child's father at all let alone while they are your employee. To make matters worse when I talked with the general manager for the city I was told this was a personal matter between her and I. He apparently does care about these children either. And to make matters worse this manager called my house and cussed and swore at me on the answering machine. Which was played for this general manager with no recourse for the person who manages these children. In short I would not allow any child of mine to continue to work for this company nor would I ever choke down any of their products.

If the district manager or whatever he/she is called does not address this matter, then go to the next level. Contact corporate and establish contact with franchise operations.

I don't get it. was the affair between the worker and her father? or the manager and the workers father? or between the worker and the manager, and the manager was telling the father about the affair?

either way, if it does not involve yourself, you have little business repeating the info.

It doesn't matter WHO the conversation involves. Any talk of sex at a place of business can be considered sexual harassment to those even 'over hears' the conversation and they have the right to report it as such. I know of people who filied sexual harassment against a company because they "overheard" a joke that one employee was telling another...and she WON her case.

I'm not sure that anything can or should be done. You are reporting hearsay and it has nothing to do with you directly. I see your point from a moral perspective. With regards to the manager calling you and leaving an inappropriate voicemail, that you should escalate to Human Resources at the corporate office.
