Misleading Letters Sent to My Home

GLEN BURNIE, MARYLAND -- I received a letter from **, senior director, credit and financial services (Sam's Club). The letter stated that if I added an authorized Buyer to my account that I would receive a $10 statement credit. I drove to Sam's Club to add my daughter as an authorized buyer and they told me I couldn't. That I already had one authorized buyer (my husband). The letter never stated that I couldn't do this if I already had an authorized buyer. It simply said add an authorized buyer.

When I called customer service they said they couldn't help. VERY misleading letter. Why send me something that then doesn't apply to me when I get to the store? We will be canceling our membership tomorrow. We have heard many good things about Costco. Maybe they won't try to scam us.

You do not have in stock a 100 pack imprimable cd-r anymore. I have bought them for years from Sam's Club in Irondale Alabama. You only have the cd-r's now that you have to stick a label on, not one that you can print directly to. Ones with a label will kill your cd players. If you sell only the cd-r imprimable cd's one could either print directly to or place a label on it if desired. I cannot use the ones that you have to stick a label to. Memorex still manufacture the cd-r imprimable ones so please give me a break.

Beware of Non Price Matching on Items Going on Sale
By -

I bought a 32" Vizio TV the first part of November during a 'road show'. After the price went up but for this whole weekend the set was in stock and on sale. Since there is a 90 day period to return electronics I expected customer service to match the new price and refund the difference. They said they only honor price matching for 7 days.

Give me a break, no one does that. I do have the option of returning my opened and used TV and buy a new one at the sale price. Their logic makes no sense at all and isn't at all user-friendly. Costco would match as most retailers would. This wasn't a Black Friday limited stock item but one which they carry and have many in stock for this whole time frame.

Refused to Return My Money
By -

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- On April 11, 2010 I purchased a box of 5 Clematis vines/roots for $15.88. When I got them home I opened and looked at them there were only 3 roots to be found and they appeared to be very dried and brittle with no sign of life anywhere. I decided to give them a chance and soaked them in water overnight before planting them and to date (May 10) there is no sign of life and I cannot find most of the root. It is gone.

I returned the box to Sam's along with what I could find of the root and Sam's refused to give me back my money stating I had to renew my card for $40.00 even though I had my receipt for purchase of the item. This does not make me want to renew my card. It makes me concerned if I were to make another purchase would they accept it as a return if need be? Or find another excuse. I don't think I should be forced to renew my card in order to make a return.

Method Of Payment
By -

AUGUSTA, MAINE -- Today I was shopping for a gift at sam's club in Augusta, Maine. I asked the service desk if they took MasterCard for payment. No problem. I then asked if I could use a MasterCard check that would entitle me to %0 interest. Ok. I have it 99% filled out when another clerk comes over and says company policy doesn't allow those checks. I explained what it was and that it was good as using the card only I was getting %0 interest. Nope!!! I was livid!!! Can't use the check anywhere else since it was filled out so I had to tear it up. I was in no mood to sign up for their card so I used my regular one.

They should be so lucky the price was the lowest around. I hate having to show my member card going in and I hate having to stand behind someone with a ton of stuff while some dweeb checks it all before you leave, while I have one item. Obviously sam's can pick and choose their method of receiving payment during this recession. Well, include me out!!!

Online Digital Photo - Great Experience!
By -

MADISON HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN -- We just celebrated my son's high school graduation. For decorations, I took a few pictures from various phases in his life and had them printed in poster sizes. To do this, I used Sam's Club online digital photo processing. It was so easy!!! I simply uploaded my digital pics, selected the size I wanted printed, viewed them so that I could center & crop them exactly as I wanted, and picked them up later that same day!! If I was requesting a size that would result in poor quality (based upon the resolution of the original), a little warning appeared so that I could select a different size.

The quality of the pics were fantastic. I found the prices very reasonable, and they were a hit at the party. It was much better than spending those dollars on cut-out graduation hats and streamers. Grandparents asked if they could have a couple of them (especially the group shots), and the girlfriend was thrilled to keep a couple. I'm going to use them again to blow up a couple of vacation scenery shots for permanent display in my home.

Bad Specification Therefore Bad Product
By -

We purchased at our local Sam's (we are long time high business user) several strings of LED lights with the anticipation of having them in place for years as 10,000 hr (minimum) is advertised life of bulb. However the light strands purchased may have had 10,000 hr bulbs, the leads of these bulbs are only 1000 hr leads. This means we have a bunch (15 I think) of strands with good bulbs but bad wiring so they don't work. The leads are made of steel!! What is needed are better standards. The leads from the bulbs can't be steel based, read rust, for exterior rated lights. We returned these once and we will yet return them again. Tried to insert pictures of failed leads but no luck.

Pressure at Checkout

Rating: 4/51

KINGSTON, NEW YORK -- Okay I get it: Sam's Club cashiers are under constant pressure to 'add on' an endless parade of special (and useless) membership upgrades at checkout to drive more profits to Sam's Club. It's not the cashier's fault. Unfortunately, I shop less at Sam's Club because I am tired of being pressured to constantly upgrade my membership with every visit to the store. What Sam's Club management fails to realize, the profits they might get from these upgrades is probably equal or less to what they are losing with scared off shoppers.
