Defective 50 Inch Plasma
By -

NORTH CAROLINA -- I bought a 50 in plasma on February 14, 2009 and on March 13th, 2009, it developed a crack on the left top corner of the inner panel or inner screen. I have the TV on a wooded stand made for a 50 in TV not wall mounted. So I placed a repair order online and waited for them to call. No call after three days. I called Samsung and was asked if I could send a picture of the crack. I did and that was worst thing I've could've done. They deem my TV neglect and that something or someone had hit it. They voided my warranty and said there's nothing they could do to help me.

What the **. I've talked with a service representative that was supposed to come out to service the TV and they said that the crack came from under the bezel or frame and once the TV got warm enough the crack came down. I'm so frustrated at this point that I paid 1200 cash within 30 days. I have nothing.

No one has been to my house to even look at the TV and everyone keeps making assumptions on how it got a crack screen. This is the worst service I've ever received. Every time they say someone is going to call it never happens. HHGreg is where I bought the TV so I called them for help and they can't understand why Samsung is treating me with such crappy service. If anyone can help please let me know.

Samsung TV's - Do Not Buy!!
By -

DAMASCUS, OREGON -- Purchased a 42 inch TV on 3/17/06 for $1,899. On 12/23/08 - TV blew up. Had a repair service come out and determine digital board was toast - cost to repair $725. Contacted Samsung and was told - "too bad, out of warranty".

You would think if you purchased a TV for $1,899 it would last longer than 2.5 years. Was told by repair guy - they have had nothing but repair calls on Samsung TV's produced during this time period. Search the internet - Look at all the dissatisfied customers on various Samsung products - appears they do not produce a quality product - nor do they stand behind the products they produce. I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCTS IN THE FUTURE.

Beware of Possible LCD Screen Damage
By -

SIERRA VISTA, ARIZONA -- This applies to any LCD flat screen TV, not just Samsung. Even though 98% of all TV's manufactured today are built to accommodate the widescreen movie formats, you will find that many of the TV programs are still broadcast in 4x3 format. This leaves large black bars on the right and left sides of the broadcast. If the bars are allowed to remain for more than 15% of your TV viewing it can burn the LCD screen.

Once the screen is burned then you will see a vertical line at the point of the burn. It will either be a dark line or a light one. Sometimes dark on one side and light on the other. You can prevent this burn by watching all programs in full screen mode. This means that a normal 4x3 broadcast might show up a little distorted (people may seem a little fatter than normal) but it's worth not having the screen burned. Some of the stations are broadcasting color on the sides of the main program in an attempt to reduce the burning.

Somewhere on your remote control you have a "format" key that should allow you to widen the picture until you are watching in full screen mode. Some manufacturing warranties (including Samsung) won't honor the wty if the screen is burned in this manner. Hopefully one day the broadcasters will get some kind of standard in their broadcast so the pictures won't jump back and forth between standard size and wide.

Customer Service

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- I purchased a flat screen TV in Sept of 07. In Aug of 08 I purchased a HDMI cable for the best picture possible. That cable did not work with the TV. So I was instructed by Samsung the cable must be bad. So I bought a second which did not work. I called again and they said, "The TV must be bad, Fax in the Receipt and instructions will follow for repair."

I called again in October same result, again in November same result, again in December and was told to use a different fax number, so I did. Called again in January and was told I was out of warranty. So they checked the call log and said I didn't call until November, so it is out of warranty. Great company. Buy at your own risk. They do not want to see you if there are problems with their product.

Poor Service
By -

OTTAWA -- Buyer beware. I purchased a Samsung 42" plasma TV in Nov 2007. Warranty is 2 years parts and labor. Did my homework before I bought and thought I was buying well, "WRONG". In the past month I noticed a "hum" when volume is low. Called Samsung, they say (over the phone without even seeing it) it is "within the acceptable standards for for this product"!

I asked why then did it just start this? No real answer (that's just what my supervisor told me)! Now there's service!!!! I asked if the "hum" becomes worse when warranty is up will it cover it? Response was "we will see then, can't promise you anything". I did think Samsung was a good solid product... guess I was wrong!

Buyer Beware of Samsung

I purchased the Samsung DLP 61" in Sept 2008. It is still under warranty and nothing has been done. Customer service will lie to you and keep you on hold for 45 minutes. Yes, I waited 45 minutes before I finally gave up. Read other reviews on TV's and see the response of other companies to service. Again, if you have a problem, the warranty is not worth the paper it is written on!

I have been lied to over and over again by these people. First, they were going to fix it, but all repair shops in this area refuse to deal with Samsung (that should be a clue). Then secondly, a replacement was being sent out Oct 4th. Guess what, it is November the 5th and no one at Samsung will talk to me.

Bad TV
By -

CRIMORA, VIRGINIA -- I bought this TV in July '07 and it is a piece of junk. The color went bad in about May '08 and I had to have it repaired. The repairman was excellent and put in a whole unit in the back of the TV. Now in October '08, it is off again. I can get picture but no sound and I can't get the TV to go off. Don't buy Samsung TV's. I am totally disappointed in this TV.

I bought my son an RCA TV at the same time I bought this on and he has had no trouble with his and his picture is actually better than mine. I will think twice about buying Samsung after this. I was told they were the best TV's, but somebody lied. I think I should get a new TV for this piece of junk. Thanks goodness I have extended warranty on this thing.

Quit Working Within The Next Five Days
By -

JONESBORO, GEORGIA -- Bought a 56" DLP TV in January of 2007, it quit working within the next five days. Best Buy was great. Replaced it with another promptly and it quit within the next week. Best Buy to the rescue again, replacement. Worked fine until a month ago, now I can't turn it on. Local tech sent out by Samsung said it is non repairable and should be replaced. Samsung is now doing a song and dance about waiting for their tech's to approve the replacement.

It has been over a month without any help from Samsung. I am surprised a company of their size runs such a slipshod executive customer relations. Seems nobody up there knows what anyone else is doing. I have spoken to at least four different people and gotten four different responses. Now all I have is a $2500.00 boat anchor.

No Parts Available
By -

SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA -- We bought this TV less than 3 years ago. Only thing they said would go out was the lamp. We were lucky the lamp didn't go out until 3 weeks ago, bought new replaced. After watching the TV for one day, the DMD Board and light engine went out. Service repair person said it would probably cost more to repair than buy a new one. We were depressed since we had our other TV for over 15 years with not a problem.

So we went looking for a new TV anyway, then I decided to call Samsung. Nothing they could do they said. We hadn't bought the extended warranty. Okay, our mistake. Then I decided maybe we would fix it, so I called Samsung to see how much the part was. Well it wasn't as bad as I thought but, it was on a nationwide back order and it would be over 4 weeks or more to get. So even if I wanted to fix my TV I couldn't.

This doesn't seem right to me. Either they are having major issues with this type of TV and should recall the TV's or extend the warranty's. I was also told they might not be making these TV's anymore and a lot of the stores aren't carrying them. Has anyone else had this same problem?

Sales Boost Policy!!!
By -

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- There is a board right above the LCD panel on my 46" TV amongst other numerous boards, which Samsung does not provide to its authorized repair shops. So when this board goes bad, they are telling you to buy a whole new LCD panel, which is so expensive that you are better off to buy a new TV altogether. This board went bad on my TV just after a year and half at which point the warranty is expired.

I called Samsung customer support and they adamantly insisted that whatever the shop says is what I have to do and that the board is not sold separately. The Joke is, that Samsung provides this board to other companies, for whatever reason or purpose and I was able to get it online and repair my TV myself. The question is, why is this board (part) failing so soon (I have heard of several cases myself alone), and why Samsung likes to sell you a new LCD Panel/TV at a much higher price instead of the Board at a fraction of the LCD panel's cost?

Why didn't it bother Samsung a bit when I told them about the situation and why didn't it bother them at all that they have a quality problem here? Is Samsung trying to boost sales by following such policy? Samsung may not care about quality and practice, but customers do. I am not buying any more Samsung products and I suggest everyone else to reconsider if they intend to buy their products.
