SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I bought Skype credit trying to use it to make cheaper calls, but it never worked, the line was always busy. There is no one to talk to and the blogs don't help much on this issue. I don't like when they make things so complicated and there is no response. The worst part is they are ripping people off. Me included.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- Very bad is not enough. No customer support, it is all a lie, a forum trying to keep people busy. I recommend to use the free service only, although privacy is an issue, as your calls may be monitored or recorded.
CALIFORNIA -- SKYPE failed to put WARNING or any link on its site... so click by error... NO REFUND. Tried 2+ hours to reach Customer Services, not a customer services - it is a joke. Policy, policy is all they said, but NEVER WARNING or LINK on the site. STOP RIPPING CONSUMERS. Thanks.
I am in India on business. I'm trying to use Skype to call my family at home. Signed up for a Skype account, added credit by Paypal (which it states is the preferred and fastest way), and here it 36 hours later and I still can't use the service! Their website says some orders may take 24 hours! They make it very hard to find support. I can't say that I wouldn't recommend it at this point, but they're not off to a good start.
99 UNKNOWN, ILLINOIS -- I have paid my $25.00 in pesos here in Mexico more than a month ago by wire transfer. I even scanned my receipt to them. They have not responded nor replied to me. This has happened every time since eBay bought Skype. They will not even accept my debit card as before. I am at wit's end and do not know what to do. I must have sent 12 notices to them with my scanned receipt and still no answer.
Skype is still in its beta stage--not in the technology of VoIP, but in the technology of support services. The model is a logarithm based system that ideally can provide support without human intervention. If it works, a technology service company earn vast sums of money with a minuscule workforce and overhead. Unfortunately, it doesn't work very well. Most people don't want to wait for days to have their telephone problems resolved, or worse, never resolved. Google "internet telephone" and checkout the growing competition. I sincerely suggest to Skip Skype.
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- Skype is all hype. Just like its parent company eBay. The customer service is atrocious. You cannot get a real person. You would think that with the capabilities of Skype that they would use their own product to allow easy access to a customer support representative, but they don't. Do they themselves not believe in their own products?
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- Skype cleared my credits. The warnings they sent for my credits expiring went into spam, so I checked it the day my credits expired! Their customer service (no people, just emails) sent me a generic response. In CA, my understanding was that vouchers/gift certificates, etc. can not expire even if there is an expiration date. If they do not credit me, I'm going to contact my Congressman and the FCC to file a complaint.
My Skype account was blocked for 4 weeks and the reason was unknown. I tried everything to fix it and at the end, I emailed customer service. The problem was from their end and it took them one month to unblock my account. I lost business calls for one month and their customer service was taking over 10 days to respond to my emails. Even though Skype idea is great, their customer service is horrible and there is no way of contacting them except by email.
