Extremely Poor Customer Service

Rating: 1/51
UNKNOWN -- I would just like to reiterate what others have said. I placed my order on June 20, 2014, received a confirmation and July 20 rolled around after two telephone inquiries and several e-mail inquiries, and still NO ORDER. I sent an e-mail threatening to stop payment with my credit card company, but when I received my statement, they hadn't yet charged it even. So, I had to cancel and start over with an order somewhere else, and will now have to keep watch on my credit card because I still, after at least 3 calls and 3 e-mails, have not received one correspondence from this company. I suspect that they hire an answering service to take their calls and probably do the same for their e-mails. DON'T BOTHER yourself with this company - you will waste a great deal of your time.

Terrible Service!

GPW, MICHIGAN -- First off, let me state that I did receive the item I ordered. The item, packaging, and price were all fine. It took almost three weeks to get here, though - even though I live only 200 miles from the business. But slow shipping is not my major gripe.

I received no correspondence from these folks at all, except for an automated receipt generated by Yahoo Shopping the day of the transaction. 9 days went by and I had not received the item. So, I sent an e-mail to the company asking for a shipping update, or status of my order. No reply. Another 5 days go by, still no shipment. Sent another e-mail, no reply. Found another e-mail address for the company, sent a letter to that address as well. No reply. At this point I had enough, so I went to SmokeSign's website and tried to cancel the order. No dice - there's no provision on the site to either track orders, receive updates, or cancel a shipment. This was beginning to look like a scam.

I let another 6 days go by, then decided to contact my credit card issuer and charge back the payment. Lo and behold, the item arrived that very morning. No explanation why it took so long, or why nobody bothered answering my inquiries.

This is the worst service from an online company I've ever experienced. I'm thankful it worked out in the end, but feel that I should warn others about this couldn't-care-less outfit. There are many complaints filed against this business, check it out before you buy - at your own risk. Although they are listed with the BBB, they are not a certified member. Check out the number of complaints received, and you'll see why.

The first thing I would do in a similar situation is find out from the company that delivered it what the problem was. I don't think slow shipping was the fault of the company you ordered from.

Slow shipping was not the issue. I realize that many things beyond the control of the merchant can slow a shipment. My complaint deals with the total lack of communication, and limited functionality of their website. Waiting 3 weeks for an item to arrive is merely inconvenient - but not knowing why is disturbing.

Never Shipped my goods, never responded

GPW, MICHIGAN -- I placed an order for multipul smoke detectors on Sept. 1st. 2 weeks later I emailed asking for the tracking number, but received no response. I called after 3 weeks and was told "the owner would call me back", but no call was ever received. I emailed again asking for the tracking number and only got an email stating that I would have my detectors by this past Tuesday. But, No Delivery.

I called today and canceled my order, or so I think. The person on the phone had no authority to do ANYTHING. She took my information and said "I will let the owner know and he will get back to you". I asked that they credit back to my credit card today, but she said the owner would have to do that. It has been 1 month since I placed the order and I have had Zero communication from them.

Next Stop the Better Business Bureau~!

Did it ever occur to you to buy locally.
Most, if not ALL internet, TV & Radio ads with the free trials and toll free numbers are SCAMS, in one way or another.
These commercial guarantees and testimonials are worthless. They will promise you anything to get your credit info.

I have called Amex and they have refunded my money for this order. Just want to make sure others are not taken for a ride by this company

I have now filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well since they use their logo on the website.

Moved From Other Review: I had several communications with Smokesign.com staff members, and the owner, Ron when I ordered the wrong item and needed to return it.
I agree that the staff appears to have no authority to do anything themselves, BUT, they do a great job in getting your message to the owner, Ron, and Ron always responed either by email or phone. My issue was resolved to far beyond my expectations. I feel that their service was well over and above the average online store. Kudo's to Ron and his staff at smokesign.com. Don't' be afraid to order from this company based on the other negative review.

to be honest the BBB logo doesn't mean much anymore.

the worst the BBB will ever due to a company:

- fund a lawsuit against them
- remove their accreditation

Anonymous on 2009-12-15:
Have BBB ever been known to fund a lawsuit? I've never heard of one. They are pretty much a joke.
PepperElf on 2009-12-15:
good point.
I only got that tidbit from their own site...

hold on I'll double check what their site says
tjsaprilia on 2010-01-19:
The BBB did help a lot on my case against this company. The owner did NOT DO ANYTHING to help me and I have received many responces from others with the same feedback. The BBB did contact them and I feel this is one of the best ways to make sure that others are not harmed.

I would also suggest putting orders like this on a card like AMEX, as AMEX gives customers help in situations like this.
Slimjim on 2010-01-19:
If a company puts a BBB logo on their website, it mean they joined the organization as a way to boost perceived legitimacy. Odds are, these ARE the type of companies that will try and avoid and/or resolve BBB complaints, since they are using them as a form of reference.
Pepper, as far as I know, the BBB would never fund any lawsuit. All they do is warehouse complaints and display a count report and grade on businesses.
