GROSSE POINTE WOODS, OHIO -- Exactly as described by others. Wish I had read the reviews prior to placing an order. All I ever got was an email with my order number and a link to check the order status. When checking that link the status box is blank and there is no tracking number. Two phone calls and two emails only to be completely ignored by the company. This is the biggest bunch of false advertisement I have ever seen. I don't understand why they have a site unless it is just a scam company. Wish I could find what I wanted elsewhere.
I have had all the bad experiences recounted in the previous reviews. The Smokesign.com web presentation is clear and full of information, but that's where the competence ends. Expect astonishing delays. Expect the incorrect product to be shipped to you after weeks of delay...but the shipper may be a third-party you did not deal with.
Expect the company telephone number to take you to a telephone answering service where nice ladies take your number...but don't expect Smokesign to call you back. Expect no better response to email. Basically, expect nothing helpful or useful from Smokesign beyond the useful information that they have posted on their website. Locate the products you want, then buy them elsewhere.
UNKNOWN -- I would just like to reiterate what others have said. I placed my order on June 20, 2014, received a confirmation and July 20 rolled around after two telephone inquiries and several e-mail inquiries, and still NO ORDER. I sent an e-mail threatening to stop payment with my credit card company, but when I received my statement, they hadn't yet charged it even.
So, I had to cancel and start over with an order somewhere else, and will now have to keep watch on my credit card because I still, after at least 3 calls and 3 e-mails, have not received one correspondence from this company. I suspect that they hire an answering service to take their calls and probably do the same for their e-mails. DON'T BOTHER yourself with this company - you will waste a great deal of your time.
GPW, MICHIGAN -- First off, let me state that I did receive the item I ordered. The item, packaging, and price were all fine. It took almost three weeks to get here, though – even though I live only 200 miles from the business. But slow shipping is not my major gripe.
I received no correspondence from these folks at all, except for an automated receipt generated by Yahoo Shopping the day of the transaction. 9 days went by and I had not received the item. So, I sent an e-mail to the company asking for a shipping update, or status of my order. No reply. Another 5 days go by, still no shipment. Sent another e-mail, no reply. Found another e-mail address for the company, sent a letter to that address as well. No reply.
At this point I had enough, so I went to SmokeSign's website and tried to cancel the order. No dice – there's no provision on the site to either track orders, receive updates, or cancel a shipment. This was beginning to look like a scam. I let another 6 days go by, then decided to contact my credit card issuer and charge back the payment. Lo and behold, the item arrived that very morning. No explanation why it took so long, or why nobody bothered answering my inquiries.
This is the worst service from an online company I've ever experienced. I'm thankful it worked out in the end, but feel that I should warn others about this couldn't-care-less outfit. There are many complaints filed against this business, check it out before you buy – at your own risk. Although they are listed with the BBB, they are not a certified member. Check out the number of complaints received, and you'll see why.
GPW, MICHIGAN -- I placed an order for multiple smoke detectors on Sept. 1st. 2 weeks later I emailed, asking for the tracking number, but received no response. I called after 3 weeks and was told "the owner would call me back", but no call was ever received. I emailed again, asking for the tracking number and only got an email stating that I would have my detectors by this past Tuesday. But, no delivery.
I called today and canceled my order, or so I think. The person on the phone had no authority to do ANYTHING. She took my information and said "I will let the owner know and he will get back to you." I asked that they credit back to my credit card today, but she said the owner would have to do that. It has been 1 month since I placed the order and I have had zero communication from them. Next stop, the Better Business Bureau!
