Unwarranted Cancellation of Services

LANSING, MICHIGAN -- State Farm Insurance has given me the run around for two months while trying to switch insurance companies. After finally getting it straight and getting on the insurance. We were informed today we were getting cancelled because they can not obtain a "Letter Of Experience" from our last insurance company. We had contacted our old insurance several times and they have no idea what this letter is.

We have given State Farm the number of the old insurance company and have asked them to contact them so we could get it fixed. We sent them all the paperwork we could obtain but still got cancelled. Of course we had sent them a payment and they accepted it so now we have no extra money to pay another agency to obtain insurance. The insurance agents name is Michael ** and they are based from the Lansing office.

State Farm Insurance Refused to Pay Claim

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I have been with State Farm insurance for over 40 plus years. I carry auto, property, and life insurance policies with this company, and recently I had a property claim filed with this company. State Farm has now taken to operating a less than up front business. Upon filing my claim I was forced to go through my agent and several adjusters and finally was directed to a so called underwriter who informed me that some 10 years ago there was a very small clause change in my property policy.

This clause change would require me to list all unscheduled personal property and then insure it up to 80 percent of market value, which would increase my premium by a significant amount. Bottom line is that after being run around for several weeks State Farm refused to pay the claim, yet they have no problem billing me monthly for coverage. I am suggesting anyone dealing with this company seek alternative coverage or else get an attorney to read your policy carefully.

QUITMAN, TEXAS -- My Agent in Quitman TX was great. He did all he could do. They are great people. But as State Farm corp. office SUCKS!!!! They cancelled my auto insurance for a claim they never paid. They ask me to put all my insurance together so I did and then cancelled my auto and never told me even my agency. He did not know. I had no insurance for 3 month and did not know. When trying to talk to the corp office they referred me back to local office. Hell they tried to get answers as well but could not. So as I see it the local office GREAT State Farm Insurance SUCKS. I would not recommend them to anybody not even my worst enemy.

State Farm Says "Stick It to Medicare."

HOMOSASSA, FLORIDA -- Went to mediation today, could not believe when we were told "Take the lowball settlement. Wait a couple months and get Medicare to pay for your operation." They admitted the accident was their client's fault but are only paying so much because we live in a low-income county.

Don't think it's right that the taxpayers should get the bill when it's their client's fault. This is wrong in so many ways. And I would think illegal but they're above the law and can basically do what they want. Just thought people should know who they're dealing with. If you have a claim grab your ankles cause it's going to hurt. And you will have to come out of your pocket to get your own medical help or like they suggested defraud the tax payers and make them pay State Farm's bills.

Screwed by State Farm on Auto Claim

JONESBORO, GEORGIA -- I was hit by a State Farm driver while stopped at a red light. Their driver hit me from behind. State Farm will not pay a fair claim for the diminished value of my brand new 2013 car. They fixed my brand new car with substandard parts (used) and now I have a "new" car with "used" parts and will have to deal with the diminished value in the future when I try to trade it in/sell it in a few years. State Farm sucks.

They should do better for people with new cars. I mean, darn, I hadn't even made the first payment yet before it was hit by their driver and now my only recourse would be to sue the at-fault driver in small claims court to try to recoup some losses. State Farm is NOT a good neighbor and I am glad I don't have them for my insurance and never will!

Hit By A "Distracted" Driver

MECHANICSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- My car (and me) were rear ended at a high rate of speed, while I was waiting to make a left hand turn. The person who hit me admitted it was their fault (100%) and the police report reflected this. State Farm admitted responsibility and promised to make good on the claim. My car was old (2000 Subaru Outback) but an excellent car. They valued my car at $5300 and the repairs at $4000. The car is drivable but needed to be repaired to pass inspection. They refused to repair it to its before accident condition and "totaled" the car so I could not even fix it myself without going through a lot of inconvenient title changes and legal loop holes.

Anyone with decent values would fix the car to it's pre-accident condition in this situation. If I was at all at fault I would not be writing this. I do not care about "rules" "procedures" or profit margins, just write and wrong. This accident is going to cost me at least $3000 to get an equal car (after their "generous" settlement"). State Farm will gladly take money but all you get out of it is "peace of mine" not responsibility. Dealing with his company sucks.

PLYMOUTH, INDIANA -- If you think State Farm is a "GOOD NEIGHBOR" you're wrong!! I purchased a car and 3 days later was hit from behind while sitting at a red flashing light. I was hit by a person who was not insured and was going 55 mph. My car was a total loss.. police stated it was 100% other drivers fault. State Farm has been rear ended me ever since.. which was my insurance!!

They took forever to get an estimate, took forever when they finally did send someone out and took the whole back end of my car apart wanting to attempt to fix it with 10,000 dollars damage. Told them I was not fixing this car!! It was hit too hard and bent the frame in the back!! They still wanted to fix it!! Finally they agreed to replace the car and I had 5 days to purchase a new one, working until late every night at my job that meant I had 1 day to purchase another car.

Now I have to pay for the rent a vehicle!! And would not let me use my own renters insurance that I had paid for on my own policy.. then State Farm reported I was at fault!! What a nightmare State Farm has been.. I will NEVER recommend anyone to State Farm!!! Get out now if you have it, before this happens to you!!! Had to hire an attorney to fight my OWN insurance that I have paid for.

GOOD NEIGHBOR!!

BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS -- I have been with State Farm for over THIRTY YEARS, and I needed coverage for liability just to keep others covered while opening a new business and a new home I was building. Once built I knew I would need full coverage but could not get that until it was completed with both. To make the story short, I ended up having to take EVERYTHING to an entirely different company so they would take it all and include the coverage I needed. I have since dropped both ventures since neither had the type or amount of funding needed. I do however still have the coverage with Farmers Alliance.

I went back to my former agent thinking it might be OK to return to State Farm now since I had the "Blights" removed that they didn't like. Now they find that my "WIFE" keeps me from getting insurance because she had a claim almost three years ago (when her now deceased husband turned in a hail claim on their home in Minneapolis, Kansas). There was a couple whiny little other excuses but I had no problem seeing through those (and the agent had to admit that part)...

There is something missing in this "GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICY" AND I CERTAINLY AM UPSET WITH THE CORPORATE PETTINESS AND LOUSY POLICIES THEY USE. Other than that, I'm sure there are some well-hidden qualities to redeem them all, but I find no further patience to try to be in their graces, but have chosen to be the same "Good Neighbor" they are and cancel any further business attempts with them.

Payments Not Late, Coverage Not What They Said
By -

DAVID DOYEA, MINNESOTA -- I am a customer of State farm. I recently changed from Allied. When I switched ** told ensured me the coverage was the same. Now I have been in an accident and I find out I have no towing coverage, no rental coverage, and the claims people are mean. They asked me what I had done, as if I have ever been in an accident before. Friendly Chevrolet, where I bought my car, said they would pick up my car, set me up with a loaner and take car of everything. This is the place I bought my car, not my insurance company. DO NOT GO WITH STATE FARM! They are uncooperative, misleading and unconcerned with their customers. They only seem to care about taking my money.

Concordville, PA - Indulging in Deception. Learn How to Read a Police Report!
By -

CONCORDVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA -- After work, my daughter parked her car on a street, acceptable, at 9:30 pm. She safely exited her car and was standing between her car door and car. There were no oncoming cars. She was gathering her belongings, her puppy, her purse, and flowers, it was Valentines Day. She then looked up, at least 1-2 minutes later to see a car without its head lights on heading straight for her. Thankfully, she saw this car and fell into her car, nearly getting hit. The other driver hit the end of her door and swiped the side of her car. The police report clearly states the other driver did not have its lights on and that my daughter was already out of her car, not attempting to get out.

There was 1510.00 worth of damage to her car. The other driver's insurance company is State Farm in Concordville, PA. I have exhausted myself talking, pleading, arguing, and just trying to understand why they are accusing my daughter of being 100% at fault. There is nothing on the police report that says she did anything wrong. I am at my wits end and don't know what else to do at this point. This is so wrong and I am being raked over the coals by this insurance company.
