Employee stole my Bank Card and went on a Gas Station spending spree
By -

COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA -- 07/01/2010- He has been arrested!!! The Taco Bell employee was arrested on 6/25/2010 I have to appear in court on the 8th of July and I am scared. It is open court and I fear that anyone could follow me home, this will be his second strike and I am sure he is pissed. After all it was all over a measly 75 bucks. Now I am trying to figure out if I have any grounds to bring a civil suit against Taco Bell, seeing that they employed him as a cashier with the kind of prior convictions he had. I am sure they do backgrounds checks and hiring him in that position seems to be negligent to me. Vicarious liability??? Anyone have any suggestions?

On 6/13/2010 I picked up my daughter after taking my brother to the ER and finding out he had to be admitted to the hospital with a severe case of pneumonia. I asked my angel what she wanted for dinner as I was too tired to cook. She wanted Taco Bell so I proceeded to the Taco Bell on Harbor and Wilson in Costa Mesa, CA. I was using my blue-tooth headset giving my mother an update on my brother's condition which I suspect the cashier noticed and took advantage of my being a little distracted. I paid with my bank card, got my food, went home, and ate.

About 30 minutes later I went down the block to my local convenience store and when I got to the counter to pay my card was nowhere to be found. I went out to my car and checked it thoroughly, no card. Went and searched my house-dumped my purse out, still, no card. I thought to myself it will show up tomorrow in some obvious spot. Went on-line to bank account Monday morning and there are 2 $1.00 holds from an automated fuel dispenser, if you don't know what that is, it is when you use credit at the gas pump, a few days later the charge will hit your account for the full amount and the dollar hold will drop.

At this point one has hit my bank at $75.00 and we are still waiting for the other one to hit. My bank has been great and has already given me a provisional credit for the $75.00. I am also lucky to have good friends that transferred money to my account to keep my rent check from bouncing because if that happened I may have been up for an eviction. I am curious to see how much the next charge was. Now I can't say %100 it was the cashier but I made my purchase at 5:42 PM then at 6:10 PM the first fraudulent charged was placed 1 block away from Taco Bell and then at 6:20 PM the second fraudulent charge took place on the same street 3 blocks away.

Coincidence? I think not. Will be off to make the Police report tomorrow morning and placed a formal complaint with Taco Bell Corporate today. If this guy has a history of theft they may be in for a lawsuit under "vicarious liability" in which the company is responsible for the actions of the employee while at work. I am pissed and every time I talk about it I start to cry, it really is true, you feel totally violated.

Cinnamon Twists Tasted Like Chemicals.

BOONVILLE, INDIANA -- It's 2/13/20, 12:01 pm and about 20 minutes ago my mother and I went to our local Taco Bell for some lunch. I had just eaten some pretzel sticks from Dairy Queen (Which tasted fantastic) so I wasn't very hungry. I only got two orders of their Cinnamon Twists. So we receive our order, and the service is fine. As we are leaving, I open the bag and I'm immediately hit with the stench of chemicals. I didn't think much of it (Something I now regret) and reached in to pull out my snack. I was alarmed to find the smell was coming from my food. I assumed it might have been from my mother's potato grillers, but no. It was my food that stunk.

I gave my food the benefit of the doubt and ate one cinnamon twist. It. Was. DREADFUL! This wasn't an aftertaste, this was the ONLY taste. Thank god I got water. I chugged half of the cup (Which didn't get rid of the taste) and told my mother. She suggested the possibility that it was just the spicy cheese from the pretzel sticks messing with my taste buds... until she smelt them herself. They didn't look right either. They were very pale and barren. When we got home, we asked a friend to smell them as well who also agreed.

I am now typing this with that horrible taste still in my mouth, and I'm worried I'll be poisoned or something. The twists tasted like some kind of cleaning chemical. I'm very afraid and am starting to experience symptoms of a headache. I looked it up and apparently I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Others have as well. I just hope I don't die...

Taco Bell Poison...Please read for your own safety

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- Part of this is my fault I guess for going back to the same terrible restaurant multiple times. However, since making fast food is not rocket science, I have always assumed that one day the Taco Bell on Bayless, in St. Louis County, would have enough half qualified employees to get at least one order correct. I had even not went there for a month or two hoping the effects of high turnover might work in my favor.

The most frequent complaint I would have about this Taco Bell in particular is their uncanny ability to screw up each and every order. I am not an overly critical person, and I understand that mistakes happen, but this is ridiculous. Once again, not rocket science people! If you order a hard taco, you should basically expect to receive a Mexican pizza.

However, my food last night made that complaint fade to the background. We ordered one of this 10 packs. The option to mix and match burritos, soft tacos, and hard tacos. We also added on the Mexican Pizza and Nachos Bell Grande. To my surprise, the order was correct and very prompt. So prompt in fact, that there is no way it was precooked at least 10 minutes before we arrived.

My boyfriend and I arrived home again began to eat. I opened up my bean burrito and took a bite. There was a distinct chemical taste. I thought it must have been on my hands. So I got up and washed them. I finished then took another bite of my burrito, same thing. The only thing I might be able to liken the taste to is when you inhale oven cleaner by accident and the taste resinates in your mouth. Thinking I might be crazy, I said nothing and asked my boyfriend to take a bite. He did and the first that came out of his mouth was, "This tastes like Windex".

So, I quit eating that burrito and got another thinking it might not have the same problem. I opened that burrito but didn't even need to take a bit because the fumes were very prevalent. I gave up on my burritos and began to eat my Mexican Pizza. It was fine, or so I thought. I ate half of it and towards the center of it, I began to taste the chemicals again. I didn't taste or inspect the rest of the food, because well, why should I have to? I picked up the phone and called the restaurant and asked for the night manager.

The woman on the phone very rudely stated, "This is". I then explained to her that my food tasted like it had been laced with some type of cleaning agent. Then, in an annoyed voice, she says "Well, bring the order back up and we will replace it." Then she hung up. No apology, no concern that the food may be poisoned, no nothing. I sat back and thought to myself, "Why on Earth would I want them to replace the food after this?" I decided a wanted a refund of my money.

We brought the food back and asked for a refund. She informed us that she would take down our names and address and then we would be sent a check in the mail. We declined that and asked that the refund be done immediately. She stated in was company policy and that she would not give our money back right then. It might just be me, but when your company's food is laced with harsh and dangerous chemicals, you might want to consider bending the policy.

So, in the end, I really don't know what I ate in their food nor do I know if it is harmful to my body. I kept one of the burritos in case I needed to get it tested later on. I plan to take further actions and inform the health inspector of this incident. Taco Bell made their case clear. They don't much care what is in their food nor will they apologize for it. So, please, for your own safety, smell your food before you eat your food. If you don't, who knows what may happen.

Rudeness

ILLINOIS -- Recently I went to a Central Illinois Taco Bell. I went through drive thru and ordered only an order of nachos, a drink, and some Cinnamon Twists. I had my order planned out already when I pulled up to the speaker, and I waited for the order taker to say their little "Welcome to Taco Bell..." deal. Well that never happened. I sat there thinking that they must be busy. But after five minutes of just sitting there I finally honked my horn. I felt rude in doing so. I work in fast food myself and HATE when customers honk their horn at me. A very snippy girl came on and said, "I've been waiting for you to order for five minutes... are you FINALLY ready?"

My mouth was open in shock. I would get FIRED if I said that to someone in that tone. But I wasn't mean to her or rude, nor did I correct her and say that she hadn't informed me that I could have ordered yet. I just ordered my little order and she said, "Is that it? Just three things?". Yep. She told me my total and then I said, "Thank you" and she said, "Yup." I don't know why but the way she said "Yup" to my "Thank you" REALLY made me mad. I probably say thank you to customers at least three times minimum in a conversation. I pull up and there is a car in front of me. The guy must've had a HUGE order because he got (I counted) 10 bags of food handed to him.

So then I thought that may be that's why she was rude. She was busy with this guy's huge order, which on a side note is a very rude thing to do - coming through drive through and ordering a HUGE amount of food - if you have to pay more than $40 perhaps you should have taken your business inside. Anyway, after 10 minutes he got all his food and drove away. I got to the window gave the girl exact change, which she looked at and gave the loudest sigh, and waited 5 more minutes for my three things.

She finally came back to the window and pretty much threw my food and drink at me. I very politely asked her for some mild sauce to which she replied Why. I was dumbfounded by her level of rudeness. Seriously was she trying to get fired. I told her for my food and she grabbed sauce and shoved it in my hands.

Then I said thank you and she just went off on me - telling me how rude I was making her wait 5 minutes. How stupid I was to order three things, how dumb I was to want mild sauce for nachos. I sat there with my mouth open, just looking at her. I could see her coworkers laughing. I lost anybit of niceness I had left and told her to ** off and that I'd be speaking with her manager and corporate.

Well I went to Taco Bell the next day and asked to speak with a manager. I explained what happened to him, and he told me that there hadn't been a girl taking orders the night before. That no girl matching my description had been working. I asked for his superiors name and contact info and he REFUSED to give it to me. Needless to say, I'm pissed. I have corporate and told them but I'm not holding my breath on anything happening.

And for some clarifications, why did I sit there for five minutes instead of drive away. It was one of those stupid driveway like ones where you can't just drive off and there were cars behind me. I was NOT rude to her, as I said I work in fast food and it sucks when people are rude so I am always nice when I go to any fast food place. I was only rude in my telling her to ** off.

Wrong order AGAIN & non-existent customer service

WEST CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I started going to the Taco Bell in West Chicago, IL about two years ago. In fact, I used to frequent Taco Bell two to three times per week and after tonight's visit I have decided to NEVER GO BACK! (I have received countless wrong orders and experienced many lazy employees at this location). After numerous past experiences of excessive waiting times and noticing the obvious attempt to solely tend to the drive through, I learned very quickly to only order via the drive through.

I ordered at the drive through intercom, in which the order taker displayed the correct order on the ordering screen. When I approached the window I noticed a bag already sitting on the ledge of the open pickup window. This immediately alarmed me because it was 14 degrees outside and my order was exposed to the cold.

As I unfortunately expected, the employee at the window handed me the infamous bag and mumbled the total to me. I paid for my food and pulled ahead to check my order. I opened the bag only to find my food crammed in a bag that was way too small. The first item I picked up was supposed to be a spicy chicken burrito. Instead was some other burrito made with a stale tortilla. This tortilla was so stale that it cracked apart in my hand.

Next, was supposed to be a simple bean burrito. I got some kind of bean & rice burrito with a lot of cheese sauce. (Not to mention they were both ice cold). I parked my vehicle and went inside the store to get the order corrected. When I went inside, I had to wait behind another customer in line who had also received the wrong food and was getting his order corrected.

While I was waiting, an employee approached me stating, "How can I help you?" I explained the situation and requested a new order. The employee replied, "I don't work the drive through." I explained that I was not currently in the drive through but standing in the lobby. For the second time, I requested a new order. The employee walked away and began chatting with another employee who was sitting at one of the lobby tables on a break. It was obvious that this employee was not going to help me. I was being ignored.

Centering my attention on the eight employees tending to the drive through and with a loud voice I requested the store manager. My request attracted the attention of every employee in the store and I was immediately addressed by a woman claiming to be the manager. The woman insisted that she was informed of my incorrect order, but she was busy. By this time I was frustrated and I just wanted my money back.

I requested my refund and explained that I was not given a receipt with my original order. After some persuasion the manager opened the cash register and gave me my money back. The entire incident wasted about 25 minutes of my time. There was no smile with the service, not to mention an apology. I will tell everyone I know about the poor service at this location and tonight was my last time ever spending money at Taco Bell.

Poor service all around

WOODBURN, OREGON -- On August 30th 2007 at 7:00 PM I ordered through the drive through at location TB3536 in Woodburn Oregon - 8 crunchy taco's 2 bean burritos and a nacho bell grande. My voice was hoarse but not that bad that ** could not hear me, however on 3 tries he kept getting the order wrong and kept repeating the wrong order to me: "6 soft tacos and 2 bean burritos". He quoted me an incorrect price as well for what my order was. I drove forward and he repeated the wrong order to me and I corrected him. He then repeated the wrong order to me again! A third time I corrected him and when he told me the price I thought he might have gotten the order correctly now.

When he handed me my food I naturally wanted to check the order to be sure it was correct. All that food was stuffed into a medium sized bag, so as I tried to go through the bag tacos began to break, some of them were stuffed in the bag upside down making it hard to count them. At that point I decided I was done and I did not want to eat broken tacos so I told ** the order was packaged improperly and I swung the bag toward the drive-through window as I drive a tall SUV and the window was low. I missed partly and some of the food in the overstuffed bag fell out.

I asked for a refund and I was told no that I had thrown the food at him and I was not going to get a refund. I tried to explain I did not throw the food, but ** (who claims to be the manager) kept insisting I threw the food and kept yelling at me to move my car. Another employee who I did not get her name also started yelling at me to move my car and that I had thrown the food at them. They said they were going to call the police and at that point I said good go ahead, but if you just give me my money back I will be happy to leave.

Pablo screamed at me no I threw the food. I did move my car I parked and when inside the store. I asked to speak to a manager and I was totally ignored. There was a man on the floor named ** working and I asked him who was the manager? He said he did not know.

I went back up to the counter and asked again louder this time to speak to the manager. Pablo came to the counter with my remaining food offered it to me. I said "no - I want my money back and I want to speak to the store manager." He claimed he was the store manager and no I threw food, he was not giving me my money back. I asked for the name of **'s boss and he just walked away. While this was going on I was on hold with Taco Bell Customer Service.

I filed a complaint with customer service and I was told I would receive a call from the district manager. I request that call be on Tuesday September 4th. Today is Tuesday September 4th and it is now 4:51 PM PST and I have not received a call, though I did get a letter from Taco Bell today postmarked August 31 from Florida, thanking me for my input and stating: "I have forwarded your comments to the appropriate team member in order to help us toward continuous improvement."

What does that mean? To me it means we don't care that Taco Bell does not care nor am I going to get my $12.30 back. In addition today I tried to call the location via looking the location up in my local phone book, the number listed is a fax line only. Needless to say I will not be eating at Taco Bell ever again.

Pollock Pines Taco Bell

POLLOCK PINES, CALIFORNIA -- August 12, 2005. Went to Taco Bell last night at about 11 PM, and saw a huge group of people in the dining room. There were about 15 cars in the parking lot and more parked in the next lot over (which would be the Safeway parking lot). Now, this location is only supposed to have their dining room open until 10 PM, and their drive-through is open until midnight. So, I pull up, and there's a party in the dining room. There are teenagers making out, lots of people getting seemingly free food, and all of the managers (there were three in purple shirts) were outside smoking.

So I decide to go through the drive through. When I pull up to the speaker, no one answers. So I sat there for a few minutes and decided to pull up to the window. No one was wearing a headset, so of course they couldn't hear me! I got the attention of a manager, whose name tag said Christine (a short, heavier woman), and asked her to take my order, as no one answered at the speaker, and the sign says they're open until midnight. She told me that they couldn't take my order because they had a lot of food to make. I asked her who it was for, as there was no one behind me in drive through. She said that the people in the dining room wanted a lot of food.

I asked her if it was true that the dining room closes at 10 PM, and if so, why were there people still there. She told me that it was true, and these people were friends. She said that they have been overworked for the past five months and that they decided to do something to make everything worth it. So I asked her how a party in the dining room would help. She said she couldn't handle closing the store, because of everything being torn up, and she's been working until 2 or 3 in the morning for the past couple of months.

I told her that she should speak to someone at the corporate office instead of wearing herself out and trashing the place. I told her that she could get fired and that she shouldn't be punished because their new management couldn't run the store properly. (A new general manager took over in March, named Evone. She has run the store in to the ground since then.) Christine asked me if I would like a free drink, and I told her that I would rather pay for it along with some food. She said I couldn't pay for it, and she couldn't make any food for me. What the hell?!? I go to this Taco Bell all of the time, and I knew a lot of people that used to work there, but it's been ridiculous.

Last night was the last straw. I'm still trying to call the corporate office. The first incident was when I had to wait in drive through for over 30 minutes. I couldn't back out because of all the cars that pulled up behind me (it's summer, people!), and when I got to the window, the guy (David) was nice, and told me that he was sorry about the wait and sick of people yelling at him because the managers couldn't run the store efficiently enough to make food in under 20 minutes. I nearly ran out of gas. I asked him if I could talk to the manager, who at the time was a girl named Danyelle, and demanded that my food be free after such a long wait.

She told me that I would have to pay, and if I had a problem with the service, I should call 1-800-TACO BELL. She gave the excuse that they didn't have enough people to run her shift. I saw her and two other people outside smoking when I pulled up! Well, I guess I should have known not to go in to drive through when I saw all of the people, but Taco Bell is my favorite fast food. That'll teach me!

So I paid, and got my order (a chicken grilled stuff burrito, a cheesy gordita crunch with chicken instead of meat, and a crunch wrap supreme). Or, that's what it was supposed to be. I got the gordita crunch with meat, not chicken (I paid a dollar more for the chicken!), the crunch wrap was cold and not closed all of the way and they forgot the sour cream, and the grilled stuff burrito wasn't grilled!!! Well, that was a well- spent 30 minutes. I thanked the drive through guy for being so nice, and told him that I was sorry that he worked in Hell.

Not What I Paid For

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- On 12/14/10 @ 9:23pm I decided to have an XXL Chalupa from Restaurant #17931 through the drive through. I have ordered this item from another Taco Bell in Commerce, CA and it is made just like the photo. At the above mentioned location I have ordered this item before it was poorly made even then. But on this night I ordered two XXL Chalupas (the mistake couldn't be repeated-right? WRONG!) Drove home to open the nacho plate to find the filling befitting their small beef chalupa. This is the SECOND time I have ordered XXL Chalupa from this location.

I was so disgusted. I got re-dress & drove back to restaurant to request my money back. I can only assume the woman was the manager. She took my original order and she said she was sorry. I know she must have seen the chalupa because they were not in the box but on the plate used for nacho bell grande. The lids is clear so she should have seen how poorly made the chalupas were made. If I could upload the photos of the two XXL Chalupas from my iPhone so you would know exactly what I am talking about. I will not order food from that location again. I will switch to DEL Taco- at least they are consistent regardless of their location.

Diapered Child on TOP of Table

ALTOONA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Do not dine in. You can't tell which table had a diapered behind on it last. I watched, and took photos, of a young couple who let their toddler dressed in diaper and dress, no shorts or plastic pants even to cover the diaper, sit on TOP of the table for the duration of their meal. Grossly unsanitary as well as dangerous for the child. None of the employees seemed to mind. Going to be a very long time before I ever go back, and if I do, it will be the drive through. I prefer dining in, and Taco Bell is now off my list.
