PALMYRA, NEW JERSEY -- Please do not order anything from the company called The Freedom Blanket. I happened upon this product and thought it was such a great idea so I got online and ordered two Freedom Blankets. I placed the order online on 5/8/07. The money was taken out of my account on 5/10/07. Since I had not recevied my orders after about two weeks, I started calling the company's 800 number and I emailed the company. Since mid-May, I have called and left numerous messages, I have sent several emails and I have even mailed a letter to the company. However, I have never gotten any response back from this company. To date, I have not received my order nor have I gotten my money back. I filed a complaint with the BBB two weeks ago and they are doing an investigation. I run my own business so I realize how things can go by the wayside, but this is ridiculous. Please do not order anything from this company and make sure to tell anyone you know how poorly this company handles its affairs.

Thanks for the information. I checked out the website and they seem to be pretty straightforward, there is contact information as well as an option for live assistance. Sorry for your experience, did you dispute the charges with your cc company? Let us know how this turns out.

I thought the website seemed pretty straightforward as well. The company isn't selling a large number of different products so how hard can it be to fill two order?? I tried sending emails to all addresses listed and I tried the live assistance option, but have gotten no where. I will definitely send an update if/when this gets resolved.
Ponie on 06/28/2007:
Since I've never had to contest a charge, I don't know the time frame allowed for dispute with a cc or debit card. If still within the alloted time, I'd suggest you contact your cc company or bank immediately.

Sorry you're having this problem. As both you and justcuz stated, their website looks pretty decent and I think it would be a fairly useful product. Good luck.
poppapia on 06/28/2007:
Justcuz & Ponie, if the customer authorizes the amount to be debited from their account, it falls outside of the debit/credit card dispute rules. The charge can be contested at their bank, but if no fraud is found, the bank won't be liable for refunding the funds. This is why people should not give direct account information when ordering online or on the telephone, but use a card, preferably a credit card since their dispute rules are more lenient than debit transactions.

You expected delivery within two weeks of placing your order? What color is the sky on your planet? Almost everything I see that involves delivery has, someplace in the ad, "Please allow 4-6 weeks (or 6-8 weeks,) for delivery. You ain't going to get anything mailed by mail order that anyone can guarantee two week delivery. For cryin' out loud, allow them time to deliver! Sheeeeeeshhhhh!

Starlord, well said.

starlord, you have a good point, but most companies, send you via email, acknowledgement of your order, confirmation when your order has been processed and another when it has been shipped. It doesn't sound like Iss has gotten any such notices and is now at the 6 week mark with no response back from the company. Time to dispute the charge with the bank.
DORCAS on 06/28/2007:
I also realize that some companies take several weeks to deliver. But I can understand being upset at this point. I have dealt with companies that never send any type of order confirmation as well as e-mails that go unanswered. I have eventually received my order but chose not to order from that company again. It is irritating to pay for something and wonder if it ever got sent, perhaps to the wrong address even. Good and proffessional companies will communicate with their customers. Especially if they want to keep them.
Ponie on 06/28/2007:
poppapia, thanks for the info. I learn something new by way of my3cents every day! So does this mean Iss's only recourse is to hope the bank sees the situation the same way?

Without a doubt, some companies take 6-8 weeks for delivery and that's fine when that policy is set out. The Freedom Blanket website states that it "takes approximately 7-10 days to be prepared prior to being shipped. The order process generally takes around 14 days." Clearly we are beyond their "shipping policy." That's not even why I'm upset and so bothered with this company. The reason I have posted my complaints is because of their complete and total disregard of my requests for some type of communication with the company to find out about my order. I am non-confrontational and have been very polite in my messages, but I have still not received an email or a call back. Either let me know the product is in production or getting ready to be shipped or will take another six weeks. The status of my order and the money paid isn't the problem, it's the companies lack of customer service. And yes, I am an idiot because I used my debit card to pay for the blankets otherwise I be disputing the charges.
Starlord on 06/29/2007:
They say 7 to 10 days to prepare your order before shipping, then generally 14 days to deliver. they are using weasel words, (generally) which sound good, but if you challenge them they will melt away like snow before the sun. Just, I appreciate your input, but I have never had a company send me confirmation, until I ordered on the internet, when they send an email. If not through the net, I don't get anything until my package arrives. Your very own post said you started bugging the company before the delivery was due. Two weeks is not at least three weeks, sorry. Have you received your goods yet now? I do hope so.
poppapia on 06/29/2007:
Ponie, the customer would have to prove fraud to the bank since they authorized the debit, which will be difficult since they ordered the product. In order to prove fraud, the customer has to fill out a fraud affidavit at the bank, plus provide a police report substantiating this claim. However, again, this will be difficult since they admitted ordering the product. With debit/credit cards, customers can file a dispute if the merchandise is not received, per the card rules, but this does not apply to authorized payments from an account.

I also ordered the Freedom Blanket after seeing it featured on The Today Show. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I placed my order in April. I received an email stating that my order had shipped and gave me the tracking number and approximate delivery date. The shipment never came. I called countless times only to receive no answer. I emailed numerous times and onece I threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company, I received a response stating that due to overwhelming response after the Today Show spot, they are running behind in production, especially since each blanket is "hand made". They assured me that my order would ship within one week. Months have gone by since then and I still have not received my order. My time allotment to dispute the charge with my credit card company has unfortunately expired because I was stupid enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have also sent two emails to the Today Show asking them to run a retraction warning their viewers not to order this product but I have received no response. Last week I filed a complaint with the BBB and received a letter stating that they are investigating. We'll see what happens, but I'm not counting on getting my money or my blanket.

I purchased a blanket back in March of this year. I was charged on the 16th of March and I have not received my order.

They responded to one of my emails in May; however they have ignored every message since. Now their phone number is out of service.

I reported the charge as fraudulent to my credit card company.

Quick update on my experience with The Freedom Blanket... Still have not received the product I ordered. Still have not received my money back. Still have not gotten any response from customer service at The Freedom Blanket. I filed a complaint w/ the BBB. The Freedom Blanket never responded to the BBB inquiry so the BBB said I could pursue legal action (why waste my time over $85). I not order anything from this company or support this company in any way.

Katiedid - do you have the email address to The Today Show b/c I would also like to send them an email about my experience with The Freedom Blanket. Thanks.

The Freedom Blanket assured Christmas delivery for orders placed before December 16. I ordered two on December 9. On December 17, I received an email stating they were on the way. They never arrived.

The DHL tracking information never changed--it stated they would arrive by December 21, but it was never updated to show progress. On the 23rd I called DHL and found out the company had entered the shipping information but never sent the package.

I emailed and called the company and never got any response. Finally I spoke to an online customer service rep who told me they were overwhelmed by their holiday orders.

They should have called or emailed to let me know--instead, I kept hoping my gifts would arrive. The customer service girl just acted like it was no big deal: "your order is set to ship this week." I don't think so. Even after that chat, I have not received any kind of confirmation that my order has been canceled. The site is now offering free shipping for orders that are placed before Dec. 31--DON'T DO IT!

I don't trust DHL. Doesn't it seem strange that a company would be allowed to enter shipping information, and that DHL would continue to display it if no package was ever picked up to match the information entered? I am betting that DHL has your packages and just hasn't gotten around to delivering them yet.

Jules4AU; I too don't trust DHL. I have had bad luck with them as well and I don't use them under any circumstances. I hope you had a good Christmas anyway.
