ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -- I would like to join the others in complaining about Thomasville flooring. The product is very thin and though mahogany is a very hard wood, this flooring scratches from a plastic vacuum cleaner head. The worst feature of this flooring is it's inability to be cleaned and the film that develops on its surface which is very obvious in a sunlit room.

Home Depot has gone the extra mile in trying to resolve this problem but so far there has been no compensation or replacement.

the finish will scratch, has nothing to do with the species of wood. What are you cleaning it with? You shouldn't be using any cleaner but a microfiber mop.

Horrible Horrible Flooring

MICHIGAN -- We have spent a lot of time and money on this wood flooring because of how beautiful the color is and our trust in Thomasvilles reputation. Unfortunately we can't even enjoy the room at all because the floor is so distracting with footprints and smudges. every touch to the floor shows. we clean the floor at least 2 times a day. During parties we don't even want to show off the floors because how messy they look, we will be returning the rest we have that we were planning on laying in our bedroom. Terribly disappointed.

let me get this straight...you bought a floor with a high gloss finish and it shows footprints and its now a manufacturing defect??? How stupid!. If it really bothers you, you could recoat with a matte finish. I was a flooring rep for many yrs. The finish is the first thing you notice, so didn't you think that a high gloss finish would show every little thing?

HOW WOULD I KNOW IT WOULD SHOW EVERY LITTLE FOOTPRINT....BETTER QUESTION FOR YOU...HOW STUPID FOR A WOOD FLOOR COMPANY TO MAKE A FLOORING THAT SHOWS EVERY LITTLE PRINT!? THE FLOOR IS UNDER OUT FEET! aND THE QUALITY IN GENERAL IS VERY POOR. hOW ABOUT YOU COME FIX MY FLOORS FOR ME FOR FREE SINCE I INVESTED A LOT OF MONEY ON CRAP FLOORS AS IT IS.

Poor Quality Flooring Can't Hold Up To Normal Wear

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- We installed 1200 sq ft of Walnut Thomasville engineered hardwood flooring a year ago and it has been a thorn in our side ever since. The Walnut finish is beautiful, but will not stay clean. We don’t even have any children. They smear/smudge, footprints and shoeprints show. Bona Hardwood Floor spray cleaner (recommended by Thomasville) seems to work best, but still requires cleaning twice a week or more.

We trusted Thomasville's reputation for quality products, but are greatly disappointed. We have no choice but to tolerate and do back-braking cleaning, until we can afford to do something else.

I find it funny that Thomasville floors recommends using Bona cleaner, when they make their own cleaner. I shouldn't be surprised, though, because I used their cleaner for the first time on my wood floors and it left a waxy feeling residue (leaves no residue it says) and I had to go back over it a couple of times to get rid of it, with my BONA cleaner. Horrible product.

We had Thomasville Jatoba installed 2 years ago. I hate it. Looks beautiful when it is clean but that isn't long. Constantly needs mopping. I also have large gaps between planks. Thomasville and Home Depot sent an inspector and of course they blamed the installer. I hired him privately. He came back and redid the entire lower floor where this was installed. Gaps reoccured. needless to say I won't have it installed in upstairs rooms which was the plan. This product should never be sold where hot and cold weather are the alternating climate.
I have noticed this product was removed from my local Home Depot. Interesting.

I too purchased Thomasville flooring back in 2009 for my living room and hallway. I did 2 finishes an alternated colors to have a dramatic affect. They looked beautiful for maybe to first week. I too have found that no products they recommended worked and I have terrible smearing/smudging. Even requiring people to remove shoes did not help. It leaves prints from everything, even just socks. It is taxing to get on hands and knees to clean with just warm water and a little vinegar because anything else leaves a film and the smear/smudging gets worse. I bought a Shark steamer and it cleans it perfectly but immediately after, I am disgusted that I can't walk on my floors without seeing marks. Definitely a waste of money for me. The flooring was only beautiful in the box and at first install.
