PENNSYLVANIA -- I contracted with toll brothers, a nationally advertised builder of residential homes over eight years ago. as of this date this company has not been able to keep water out of my house. after some difficulty getting their attention, they attempted to fix the water issues. they still cannot keep the water out of our dining room, family room, and living room. they have asked to be released from work they did that has been unsuccessful. water is trapped behind the wall in several locations and certain windows leak heavily when it rains. Toll Brothers blames it on the window maker, but the leakage is more than just those windows. It's a stucco house and our inspection report states that the windows were improperly flashed. I am currently sueing Toll Brothers but they have yet to offer an acceptable amount. people buying toll brothers' residences should be advised. the lack of quality control with the toll brothers' building program is beyond excuse. please pass on the warning and advise me on how to get through a settlement with this terrible company that is listed on the New York stock exchange.

It sounds unbelievably frustrating. Is the water coming from a low water table in your area or is it just runoff from the rain?

Have you got estimates as to the cost in repairing the problems? Can the problem be repaired?

Water leakage is a homeowner's worst nightmare. And it sounds like yours is quite severe. Builders are responsible for their contractors. Hopefully, you will prevail in the lawsuit and this will be resolved. In the meantime, thanks for the warning.

I have been in litigation against Toll for 11 years - they will NEVER honor their warranty

Great info. I have a deposit on a lot and the more I read about Toll the more I distrust them. Who needs to deal with that stuff?

The "new" house I bought from Toll Brothers is so seriously flawed, both structurally and cosmetically, that the Tax Court of NJ has assessed it at $25,000 - FOR SALVAGE. I have been battling Toll Brothers in court for 11 years, to no avail. They do not build quality, and they do not stand by what they build.

OMG what a horror story! I went to the website you listed and read the details. After this eleven year battle with these toads you must be ready to cock & load. You have been stonewalled by the court system and taken advantage of. You did everything right and still got screwed. Please let us know the final outcome of this. Toll Brothers needs a real azz whopping for how they treated you.

I am curious if you had an independent home inspector perform an inspection before you completed the purchase. An inspection would have likely found any structural flaws in the building.

Toll Brothers has kept my town in courts for years because they want to build on property that is not zoned for homes and the town is refusing to change the zone. It is costing tax payers dollars and it is wrong. They built homes in another area of town and there has been nothing but problems with the brand new homes.
