ST. PETERSBURG -- Terrible experience at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete. We were woke by construction noises at 4 am. When I talked to guest services later that morning, they tried to say it was water running through the pipes. As the guest services manager was telling me this, another couple came in with the same complaint. I arranged for a later checkout so I wouldn't have to wake my son after I finally got him back to sleep. After that, housekeeping came by numerous times to ask when we were leaving. I told them we had a later checkout and one still came back and opened the door with her key even though the privacy sign was on. I definitely won't be coming back here.
ST. PETE BEACH, FLORIDA -- TRADEWINDS RESORT - Never book through Hotwire. There is no way this is a 4-star hotel as they claim. Very disappointed. Water pressure in bathroom lousy. Hot water out of cold water valve in bathroom, difficult to shave. I had to call my wife to have her feel the water. I have never heard of such a thing. Security is lousy and rude. Apparently arrested a drunk on my floor who was running down the hall and banging on walls, room 4627 and I spoke, confirming what had happened.
Restaurant the Bermuda expensive and not much better than frozen food from the supermarket. The fruit was rotted and smelled badly. We had breakfast the next day at the Don Cesar it was perfect. Room air conditioner rattled all night. Shower in next room would actually wake me up with a roaring sound. And I'm a sound sleeper. Parking is terrible. If you leave the hotel you'll be searching for a spot for some time when you return. DON'T LEAVE. Parking spots are tiny. Most SUV owners like myself had to let passengers out first before squeezing into the spot. Pools are crowded and small. Water has odor. Yes there is a covered pool - it's a kiddy splash pool that's all.
Apparently anyone can wonder in off the beach and use the pools, towels etc. Security is scarce. This is not fair to paying customers. I'm not even sure if the person arrested was a guest of the hotel's. For all I know he could have walked in off the street. I will make a complaint to the BBB however this is a long and lengthy annoying process. If you ever had the pleasure of dealing with the BBB then you would understand. I asked for a late check out for the inconveniences and was told no late check-outs. I explained the night before and was told a manager would be contacted. Never heard back from anyone.
DO NOT LET YOURSELF BELIEVE THIS IS A 4-STAR HOTEL. IT IS NOT. The Don Cesar was awesome several years ago. Not a single complaint. That's a true 4-star. Oh and the only reason I didn't complain was because I didn't want to ruin any further a quick family getaway weekend. But now it's my time and I'll speak my peace.
11966 EL CAMINO RD, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- My wife and I were lured into a sales presentation in Las Vegas through Worldwide Luxury Vacations with a free airfare and vacation promise through VIP travel. We attended the presentation and had the salespeople check on the price for an extended balcony (which the salespeople said is the standard room through Tradewinds Vacations). Since we had a cruise in mind and already priced it out on another discount website we knew the cost for a regular balcony. The salesman left the room and returned with a price about $300 cheaper per person.
Based on that we bit and spent $3,000 for the package. Since then we received our membership info and after researching their site I could not find any cruise or vacation plan cheaper than what I could find on my own or probably through a local travel agent. Also most cruise staterooms advertised were either interior or oceanview in the cheapest category. The price given for the extended balcony was a myth. Also, after researching the free airfare and cruise offer through VIP I threw the coupons away. IF YOU GET A FREE OFFER TO ATTEND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- To be completely honest I wasn't exactly sure we made the best financial decision purchasing a membership to this "travel design company". So as soon as I got my membership in the mail I called Travel Services to start booking a vacation. I could not believe how easy it was to book a complete vacation with airfare, lodging, a cruise and a ton of things to do while in port from the cruise. The operator was very friendly and informative and did all the research and work for us. She even told us how much our rebate check would be... over $500... YAY!!!
Long story short my husband and I booked a 14-day Caribbean Cruise with lodging in 4-star condos while the boat is in port and we saved over half the money we would have spent booking this vacation our own. Conservatively we saved over $4,800 and took this entire vacation for 3,900 for the both of us. I have never been more satisfied with a purchase in my entire life. Thank you Tradewinds Vacations and Worldwide Luxury Vacations.
