WINSTON SALEM/SOUTHSIDE, NORTH CAROLINA -- After two years I've finally had enough.... My doctor was not the problem she (Dr. **) was the best it is the sorry untrained staff!!! They don't answer the phones or return calls.... My pharmacy sends faxs and calls also with no reply (They told me it's worst theyve ever dealt with. It's like there's nobody there!!!!) Many a time the only way I got my Meds or to make an appointment was to make a personal visit!!! And every time I seen my Doctor I would express that they needed to do something about it, and she told me she brings it up at every meeting to no avail. If you like being treated like trash this is the place for you!!!

Discriminatory Practice

United healthcare practices discriminatory service against immigrants. My husband, who has been in permanent resident of the United States for five years and his resident card is good for another five (not to mention receiving his citizenship this year) was canceled from United healthcare with no notice, one month into a new policy. They claimed this was due to a change in his immigration status, however there was none. When asked repeatedly to provide proof of this, both the representative and subsequent supervisor have refused. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and a discriminatory action against United Healthcare. As an American Citizen, I am baffled and appalled that a corporation in this country who provides health insurance practices such blatant discrimination against immigrants in this day and age. Shameful and reprehensible.

Worst Health Care Insurance Co.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- Worst health insurance company ever. They force me to live a horrible life of pain and agony simply because they won't approve the artificial disc replacement surgery my team of specialists say I need. I live a life of narcotic pain killers, nerve ablations, lots of painful and damaging epidurals and they continually deny me. They should not have a choice or say in what quality of life I am forced to live. My family suffers from my situation. They have denied the surgery I need to restore my life, for 2 years now. I guess I need to sue them in federal court. Shame on you UHC.

Terrible. Backwards. Unorganized.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- To start this, I have an HMO plan. So I expect to jump through a few hoops to get coverage on what I need. This being said, this has been the most backwards healthcare I've experienced. Expect to call their customer service department every other day to make sure your procedure approval isn't dropped or on hold. I was told they have received my lab results and the approval process is pending and it will take 10 days to process only to call back the next week and learn that those lab results are not in their system and that they have not received them at all.

The nurses from my healthcare provider have said they've never had any other issues with this procedure from any other insurance provider. This is the third terrible experience I've had with them in a few short months. I cannot put any more emphasis on how mismanaged and unorganized United Healthcare is. I will be moving to my wife's insurance no matter how expensive it is.

1959, VIRGINIA -- UnitedHealthcare Health Insurance review
Attention Women With Breast Cancer...UHC is NOT behind women with Breast Cancer and will fight you every step of the way NOT to pay when you have exhausted every provider they insist you see. I thought our company had excellent coverage and pay a very high price for it for each of us and now to only learn when it comes down to pay for services they will run the other way...Even our insurance broker is at a loss for words as to how I have been treated with my breast cancer...To the point where we have had to file a formal complaint with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance and the Virginia Department of Health!!! UHC will continue to put you through more hell then just the hell of your cancer and treatments you must go through!!! I am fighting with every ounce of energy and life I have left in me for my care and it is falling on deaf ears. UHC only cares about their bottom line and not patient care!!! Additionally, don't even bother with their cancer support program...useless and a total waste of time!!!

Delaying And Denying

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA -- It is simply outrageous that regulators have done nothing to reprimand this firm. They deliberately have their customer service representative make you circle around yourself for years until you give up. They put you on hold for an hour at a time, hang up, and when they finally admit they have no in network providers because half of the list is bad phone #'s and the other half are full or have a specialization that doesn't apply to your condition, they bluntly deny the service. When you insist on gap exception, years have passed and 99% of population gives up and pays out of pocket.

This is a strategy that I have seen repeatedly. Reporting them will likely yield you nothing because regulators have befriended this big powerful company. They look the other way and pretend they don't see any of this. The delaying and denying while they pocket billions. Where is justice? Cathy **, sr manager hung up on me. Jolene ** used me to get promoted. Gave me a bone and then said "sorry for your circumstances. Pam ** is the most evil, ill willed person I have ever known. She is another senior manager who discriminated, harassed me and went as far as accusing me of fraudulently producing bills.

CONNECTICUT -- I called about my mom's insurance. I had cancelled it on MARCH 6 (She died March 4), but the person I spoke to did not follow through, and I was still getting mail about the policy. I explained all of this to a surly rep, who, instead of apologizing, insisted I never called (they don't make mistakes there!). She was screaming at me, so I asked if she could just go ahead and cancel, and she said she would (who knows, though?), then I hung up. She never said she was sorry about my mom's death, and she had a huge chip on her shoulder. I will never deal with this company again.

Claim Denial - Useless Customer Service

ARIZONA -- My plan that I pay for out of pocket, every single paycheck holds 0 exclusions for lab work. Regardless of the reason of the lab work, it is 100% covered. UMR takes it upon them self to decide what is approved or not regardless of the plan. Once denied they are requiring complete medical records. What is the point of offering 0 exclusions if you're going to deny claims?

I have called twice and chatted twice with reps and 0 can give me a reason to why the claim was denied. Not one single representative understands why and it's "strange". What UMR fails to realize is when they deny claims, the provider sends YOUR member an invoice for full amounts. Full amount invoices that go past due, extremely past due, to collections. Get your ** together!!! Your claims people need to check members plans before denying claims. I should have stayed with Blue Cross.

Horrible Supervisor Becky

OVERLAND, KANSAS -- My son has Medicaid and he had an appointment to be seen by his dentist. We don't have dentists nearby that accept Medicaid so I had to schedule transportation services, considering that I'm disabled myself and that the facility where we had to go is an hour away. So I did, I called Medicaid and they booked the service for the right day. However, they called me back the next day to tell me that I had to book it through United Health Care and that's when my nightmare started. So I called United and they told me that because it was not a medical emergency, they couldn't book the trip, that it was too late.

I explained to Dotty ** and Becky ** that the delay was because I was not given the right information and that I couldn't reschedule the appointment for a near date, considering that they take forever to schedule an appointment for Medicaid patients. I also explained to them that even when it's not a life threatening event, my son has a real problem with his teeth and that he also had already a cavity but they just didn't care at all.

I'm taking my son out of United Health Care because they are actually United We Don't Care. All their customer service people are trained to not give their names and their service is all but caring. Very horrible and frustrating experience. That's when you see a different treatment when you're a disabled person who sadly depends on Medicaid. They just mean money.

Horrible Policy No One Takes

TEXAS -- I signed up with this after not being able to find a doctor who took my Aetna HMO in the area. I was told there were many doctors who took this United Healthcare plan. WHAT A LIE! There isn't one doctor in this community who takes this plan. Most of the doctors they have listed for primary care are dead, not practicing medicine, or retired. So who do we trust? We can't trust United Healthcare to tell the truth about anything. The president needs to be slapped with a huge lawsuit and it will only happen when the customers take charge of their own care and expose United Healthcare for the frauds they are.
