CORONA, CALIFORNIA -- My mother and Father were both with United Healthcare for years. Mom was suddenly ill, later to find she had end stage Pancreatic Cancer. United Healthcare was the provider. We (doctor and family) requested items my mother required during the dying process, when we NEEDED the insurance the most ! They denied mom's oxygen, wheelchair, shower chair, hospital bed for the home, diapers, inhaler, and medications. They denied ALL the items required when someone is extremely ill and we as a family were in total shock. We switched Mom to plain Medicare A&B and they covered all items . United Healthcare is good coverage while you are healthy and that is the only time you are covered. When any change in your condition occurs, they deny deny, deny ! An insult to our family and my dear departed mother ! Shame on this company for misleading the public and in their commercials on TV. They are all about covering you when you are healthy.1 Replies - Latest reply on 12/09/2013Add reply
SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI -- We received a denial (for my wife) notice a week after debits from our bank account (without a notice) for over $400. My wife, sixty years old is in excellent health and has a doctor that will verify. She takes antidepressants but she also works out every day and you would never know her age. There is no history of cancer or heart problems. All blood work comes back great. For a person to be denied because there are taking an antidepressant is ridiculous. For one thing most new policies stipulate that they won't even cover mental health so why not insure? It's a sad state of affairs in this county when someone is denied insurance because they are taking preventative medication.
Very unhappy and disgusted.
SPOKANE, WASHINGTON -- It is a sad day when you have to write a negative review about a company not holding up to their promises. [snippped- No personal information allowed] I read a few negative reviews but some good ones so I decided to give them a chance. Unfortunately they never followed through on anything and let the lock time of my loan slip so we had to get a rate extension. So my rate went from 4.2 to 4.48. May not seem like a lot but over the life of the loan it is $10k. I would think twice about this company. They were great at the start then it was like pulling teeth and me pushing them to get it done and closed. I was told it would take 3 weeks and it took 8 weeks. I was also promised a refund and haven't received it or can't even get a return call. Good luck and please read my review and know I wish someone would of been honest like myself and stay away.Add reply

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- My daughter was travelling outside of the U.S. to do a volunteer project. We attempted to have her very expensive malaria medication covered (we didn't even try to get the $85 typhoid shot covered). They refused. They don't cover anything necessary for travel, even if it is required for business! When my daughter reached her destination with 29 other students, every other student had their medications covered by their insurance!!!

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Have you heard the wonderful songs by David Carroll on YouTube entitled "United Breaks Guitars"?? This is a wonderful push-back by a creative Canadian musician who had his valuable guitar tossed and broken by the incompetents at United Airlines at O'Hare and decided not to take it lying down.
'Lest you think this is a sole example of United's modus operendi, no, au contraire, it is one of the many. United is repleat with callous, uncaring and largely indifferent employees and, in the case of David Carroll and many others, repleat with the policy of "the customer is wrong." Terrible that they consumed a decent airline, Continental, with a pitiful one. I have flown, largely against my will, nearly a million miles with United (someone else paying so I had no choice)and I can say truthfully that they truly are one of the worst, if not the worst, still surviving US "airline".
My most vivid memory of their kind service was, while in transit to the Iraq war, the United agent refused to check my bag--unless I paid $ hundreds--because I was three pounds overweight. I threw my precious goods I would need in Iraq in the trash and proceeded. Like David Carroll, I will always avoid them unless the future of mankind hangs in the balance. So many of my friends and colleagues feel the same way. United has no clue.
