Wachovia liquidated accounts in which I was a beneficiary
By -

I realize that Wachovia is now Wells Fargo. However when my mother passed away in February 2008, I went inside the Wells Fargo Bank that used to be Wachovia and was told that I was a 50% beneficiary on two of my mother's accounts at that time. Wells Fargo has investigated and did the so called research and Wachovia said there was no signature card on those accounts naming me as a beneficiary. I know that is not true. In all due respect, Wells Fargo has been cooperated and have provided the accounts numbers and type of accounts. I did call an #800 number and they do not seem to care.

I really need help and any legal or any kind of advice would be appreciated. I cannot believe that they would not scan a signature card that carries a beneficiary's name and transfer to a bank that bought them and now I am left in the dust. Please help!!! Thanks.

Why can't they just let you be, and be nice...???

BROOKLYN NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I think that Wachovia is a bank to go to if you are willing to listen to them asking you to open up another account with them while thinking to yourself how stupid and pathetic that is. They are a bank and should not be asking if you want to open an additional account. If you wanted to open another account with them, I think you would just ask. Right? Whether it's talking with them on their 24 hour customer service access line or just you being in the bank, they always ask you and make you feel obligated to open another account with them. Something I know is that their customer service is just horrible.

Whether you are trying to close an account before 6 months has taken place or just want to get your pin number for your new debit card, they just make it so much harder for you. Did I mention that I believe that once you are with them, it is harder to get away? That is just how I felt. Did I mention that they take longer to process transactions there? If I were you, I would just totally just go to another bank like Bank of America or Chase... I mean just because me or other people had problems with them does not mean it is a bad bank. It just means your needs are different from which they offer. So just remember what I have said and then make your decision... After all, it's just a bank...

Wachovia Bank

I recently purchased plane tickets online. I checked if I had enough to cover the fare and I did. I checked my balance the next day and it had (parenthesis). Scrolled down and my tickets didn't show. So I figured it was cancelled. I made a transfer from a different account to purchase new tickets, now with a different airline. I checked my balance and again its in (--.--) But now, I got my original tickets back while the other is pending. So I ended up buying two sets of plane tickets. The bank manipulates balances in order to charge fees. There should be a class action lawsuit against these banks.

1 Notary Public Per Branch
By -

GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI -- Needing a Notary service, I contacted my local Wachovia Branch here in Gulfport, MS. I know that as a bank customer this service is usually provided free. However, after calling the 2 Wachovia Banks in my area on a Friday morning, I found out that each branch only had 1 Notary Person and to add insult to injury, both Notaries from each bank was off that day. How can a large corporation like Wachovia only have one Notary person? Most banks have at least 2 Notaries.

I finally went to one of the small local banks here to have my documents notarized. This competitor bank with locations ONLY in Mississippi had three on staff. I was charged five-dollars for the service and got my business taken care of. I have been a customer of Wachovia for over 20 yrs. and was disappointed in my findings.

Terrible Customer Service
By -

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Beyond terrible customer service. Not sure if it has anything to do with them joining Wells Fargo, but every time I call or go into a bank they can't get anything right. My debit card number was stolen while I was in the middle of moving 1,300 miles away. It has been 3 weeks, and no sign of my new debit card. I have been having to play transfer from one account to the other, and have incurred overdraft fees like thank you cards because their system was down or their customer service reps are incapable of doing their job. They took it upon themselves to transfer money from one of my account to the other.

I tried dealing with customer service on this prior to the check being cashed since I had already written a check and they were very unhelpful. Of course despite my depositing cash into my accounts I incurred yet more overdraft fees, and they could do nothing for me even though they caused it. I will be closing all of my account with both Wachovia and Wells Fargo, and will never do business with either of them again.

Placing a Hold on a Cashier's Check?
By -

I received a company check in the amount of $25,000, drawn on SunTrust Bank. I know from past (unfortunate) experience that Wachovia will put a 10-day hold on these funds because of the size of the check - even though they clear the check in a day, and will bounce checks you have written in the meantime (to the tune of several hundred dollars in bounced check charges, in my case). This time I tried to be smart about it.

I went to SunTrust and told them, "I could cash this check, but would rather not carry around $25,000 in cash. Is there another alternative?" They said that, even though I don't have an account with them, they could give me a cashier's check (good as cash) for a $20 charge. I didn't want to have to pay the charge, but I agreed, thinking it was the easiest way to avoid a 10-day hold.

However, after bringing the check across the street to Wachovia, they informed me that I would still have a 2-day hold on the check. I thought the purpose of the cashier's check was that it was good and immediate funds! So instead of doing both banks a favor, I could have forced SunTrust to count out $25,000 in cash, and forced Wachovia to count out $25,000 in cash, saved $20, and not had a hold placed. Next time I will do just that.

Student Lending - NO Customer Support

First I tried to contact Wachovia to try to repay my bills 2 months ago. I didn't have the zip code that matched their records so I was repeatedly put on hold and never spoke to anyone. They had a bizarre address that I have never lived in so I hadn't received any bills in over a year from them. Then I get a call on 2/19/2010 after 2 months of trying to contact you saying that I'm late in repayment and charging me a $6.00 late fee (it's the principal). It's their fault that it was late.

Also they've been sending my private information to someone else at an unknown (to me) address. I'm checking my credit report and if there is any suspicious activity I'm having them investigated any way that I can. Also now that I'm trying to log in and pay my bill I'm getting a notice on the website saying that the service I requested is unavailable. Their company is ridiculous and I do not want to deal with them any more than I have to. So please get your website and information correct so that I can pay you people without much more contact. This complaint is going to consumer websites and I am going to notify my college of the problem as well.

Desperate

DELAWARE -- OK folks, here it goes. Did you know that the tellers have to have 3 sales per day, if they don't they will get written up? So when you are standing in line to see a teller and they ask you if you have a Way2Save or debit card etc...note they have too or they will get written up. Also they have a "JUMP INTO JANUARY" where they have to get 4 friends and family members open accounts. If they don't they will be call customers "YOU" to get them at home. So please if you are tired of all their sales being harassed when you just want to make a quick deposit write to Wells Fargo and let them know. Are they that desperate to get customers???

I Got Jacked Too

I too have become a victim of this manipulative and deceitful bank. They re-arranged all of my transactions in their favor and what should have been one $35 NSF check fee for overspending a couple of dollars because I had an emergency situation, turned into $490 in OD/NSF's. They can kiss my butt if they think that I will pay this to them. I have been with them since First Union, over 20 years. They only reimbursed my 56.00 or so, and told me they did me a favor by paying the check and NSFing all 14 of my $5 to $10 charges. BS.

Harassment

This so-called bank is calling my phone 2-6 times a day starting around 7am and ending around 9pm. I have informed them about 100 times now that the person they are looking for is not at this number and to remove it from their list. The rude reply is "we don't have a list"; I have been called "Crazy", "Liar" and "Thief". I have sent emails and faxes with a cease order and have threatened legal action if the calls do not stop but guess what, the phone keeps ringing.

The banker I spoke to in one of my many calls has said the only way to stop it is to change my phone number. Why should I change my phone number because they can not understand that I am not the person they are looking for. The calls start less than an hour after my husband goes to bed and continue all day. Sometimes even less than a minute after hanging up with them they are calling again. The stress of this is really affecting our sleep and health.
