Hard To Believe
They keep giving access of my checking account to my mother. She knows my balance and everything. I wouldn't have a problem with this if I was a child. But at 28, this is ridiculous and illegal. She ... read full review8 Replies - Latest reply on 06/07/2009
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- I wanted to check the balance on my wife's Washington mutual credit card and when I went to the website, it refused my ID and password... when I finally Called CHASE on the phone using this number, 1-866-892-9268, the representative confirmed all the on line info and reinstated the on-line access..

It apparently is a fact that the info on the WAMU card including the Phone number and on-line site is no longer valid.
You must use the CHASE phone number...!!
That is, 1-866-892-9268
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA -- I made a purchase on my debit card which was approved as I had money in my account, had savings as a back up. I later went to a restaurant and that was paid with a debit card and approved. Five days later, I was charged $68.00 for two non-sufficient fees, one for the merchandise I had purchased prior to the restaurant and the second I was $3.00 short, although I had monies in my savings and forgot this purchase. Allowing the $3 shortage and being charged $34, how can I be charged $34 for the earlier purchase that was approved prior to other purchases?

This is a rip off and I am contacting Chase, FDIC and BBB and closing my account.
Worst Customer Service Ever!
I made a $500- payment in Jan/09. I was told by a call center agent from Washington Mutual BANK not the Washington Mutual Visa department that I did not have a payment until March/09. So when the card ... read full review2 Replies - Latest reply on 03/07/2009
I have found fraudulent charges on my credit card and have now spend upwards of an hour to speak to the correct person in the fraud department. Then I find out they are not located in the US. When I ask to speak to someone here in the US I am told I cannot guarantee it. It is amazing to me that we are financially hurting, however, banks continue to hire employees in other countries. This is one main reason there are no jobs in the US.
Unbelievable... OH and back to my fraudulent charges who knows if I will receive the credit back.
I have my mortgage at Washington Mortgage. I have the payment automatically deducted every month from my checking account. I changed banks last month and tried several times to get on the web site to change the information, but the web site was always down. I finally called and explained the situation.

After being on the line for over an hour they said I would be charged $14.95 for a payment over the phone and an additional $39.00 for a NSF because they could not stop the request on the account I had closed - even though I was paying the payment 4 days before the payment is usually deducted from my account.
I Hate Washington Mutual
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I deposited a check for $7,198.00 on 2/18 at a local branch. They gave me a receipt stating that they had to hold $4,900 until 2/25 and $2,184 until 3/5. I checked my account on 2/25 and the funds were ... read full review2 Replies - Latest reply on 02/25/2009
CALIFORNIA -- I am writing a complaint as I am disgusted with the harassing phone calls I am receiving from Washington Mutual. I have an equity line of credit with them, had never been late except by one day recently which I was charged a late fee for. I paid the following month, but am in dispute for the late fee as I would like it waived due to the fact I have never been late and a long term customer.

In one day I received 8 phone calls, to my home and cell. After the 3rd call, I advised I would be paying the difference when I paid my next bill and not to call again. I received a 4th call, hearing a trainer train the caller who could not speak English and when I told them I could not understand the caller they laughed.
I am irate with the level of service. When millions of people are in trouble for thousands of dollars they are harassing me for $38.00.
I get I am late, but come on! Think this helps me want to pay it off.

The free checking is terrible, it takes the bank an average of 1 week to post a simple charge, and then you charge your card, and still that won't post until you have about four or five recurring charges on your card, and they charge you four or five NSF charges! It's absolutely ridiculous! 1 Replies - Latest reply on 12/19/2008Add reply
FLORIDA -- Their whole system is messed up. You cannot get fees reversed, initiate a claims dispute basically nothing other than making deposits unless you call their number. It takes about 3 minutes to go through their automated system and then waiting for a representative to help you.

Their representative are rude and unprofessional. I guess they are not getting their bonuses and they are venting at the customer. I spent an hour today trying to file a claim and I have been disconnected by them twice since they know that the information they provide me will be used against them, furthermore they refused to file a claim stating it will be rejected because it was old even though I have supporting documentation. When I said I would take my chances and ask more about the process they hang up.
Not only I will have to have my attorney contact them (it cost nothing to me) but now I have to close my account with them since I no longer trust them as a reliable, reputable and friendly institution.

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND -- WAMU had me jump through so many hoops in order to officially change my name on an account, including filling out a form and having it notarized. Months after I did everything they required I do and that they stated was necessary for the name change on the account, I still find the old name on my account statements, on-line and on checks sent from my on-line account. In addition, I have requested to have an empty account closed and I followed the required steps to do so and then months later found that the account is still open! I have never dealt with such an inconsistent, unreliable, unprofessional, disorganized, disappointing, frustrating bank that no matter which steps one takes in order to achieve goals or who one talks to, NOTHING gets accomplished aside from going in circles and feeling extremely irate and frustrated. 10-15 years ago, this was a good bank. Since then, and especially in the past few years, it has had such a sharp decline in its management and customer service that it is just unbelievable and irreversible. Good luck JP Morgan to you and those that choose to actually stick around and give you a chance!Add reply
I opened an account a few ears ago and was told the checking account would be free if I transferred $25.00 a month into my savings account. For the passed few months I have not used my account accept to deposit a little money to maintain it. Come to find out... My savings account is now being charged $5.00 a month.
