Wells Fargo Is A Crook. They Won't Reimburse Me - Fraud
By -

SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- I lost my debit card and Wells Fargo refused to reimburse me for over $800.00 in transactions. They REFUSED! Not to mention, three or four days after I reported the incident and REQUESTED THE CARD BE CLOSED and NOT TO ISSUE A NEW CARD, they allowed over $300.00 of additional transactions and put my account into a NEGATIVE. THEY ARE RUDE, INSULTING AND HORRIBLE. Can someone please help, it is the holidays.

Monthly Service Fees
By -

We went into the Roseville, Woodcreek Branch for a simple deposit and were coerced into changing over our business account. After 2 hours with a bank clerk, Alex, he said we would save on our monthly $3 fee. Our monthly fee was only charged if we did not meet the minimum requirement of $1,000 per month. After 90 days, we received our bank statement and our fee had increased to $12 per month, even though we had over $3,000 in our account.

We went into the Woodcreek Branch and were told we needed a debit card to have the monthly fees waived. We specifically told Alex we were not interested in a debit card and do NOT want one. He said there would be no problem and there would be no monthly fee.

Alex was on paternity leave, so we met with Sierra. Sierra was not helpful and more than happy to help close the account for us, after being a Wells customer since 1996. We then met with the branch manager, and he said Alex was correct and we did meet the minimum requirements, and would waive the fee, as well as try and find out why we are being charged.

Several weeks past, and we received a telephone call from Brian, the branch manager. He said it was their error and the only way to waive the fee would be to signup for a debit card. We do not want a debit card and have no interest in one. We informed them that from the beginning. This is Wells Fargo error and they refuse to correct it.

They have told us they are not able to convert our account back and the original account we had no longer exists. The account fees have gone up more than 300 percent and they are telling us that is business. They do not care about the small business owner and will screw you over anyway they can. Very poor customer service... We are taking our business elsewhere. Very sad after being a customer for over 17 years.

Wells Fargo Yanks My Line of Credit
By -

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- I have banked with Wells Fargo for 10 years. When I started banking with them, they provided me with a $150,000 unsecured line of credit. I have handled the line meticulously and during this period I have increased my cash flow and net worth by over 3X. My credit score is near 800. This year - 2009 will be one of my best years yet. I am a private investor that makes hard money loans to people on primarily single family homes. Unlike Wells Fargo, the only loss in over 25 years of doing this is $10,000. And that is out of probably $8MM to $9MM in loans.

In mid-July I received a letter from some yahoo in Walnut Creek by overnight mail signature required. I had to drive to the other side of town to pick it up because I am rarely home. Picked it up and the letter said to "assure continued availability of the line" I needed to overnight them copies of my financials, IRS, and every financial account I had anywhere on anything. Did that the next day and did not hear anything from anyone until mid-August (my line expired Oct. 1). In mid-Aug. I was told by my private banker that WF would renew the line if I kept on deposit 2X what I borrow on the line.

I laughed. Would they term it out? The officer did not know and she was going on vacation next week. In the meantime, I sold one of my mortgages earning 13 percent interest so I would have enough money to pay the line. 2 weeks later the account officer got back and she did not know anything. Finally in mid-Sept. when I paid the line balance down to about $7,000 (and was planning on paying it off by end of Sept.) she said they would term the $7,000 out. Ha ha. Don't bother.

And then a few days later (PRIOR to my line's expiration) they yanked the line availability. I have another 20 or so years (I'm 51) of business activity. And I am going to do my best to make sure that everyone I do business with knows I find Wells Fargo one of the most disgusting corporations in the USA. The only one worst in my memory is MCI and they are no longer in business. The non-renewal of my line of credit was handled very poorly and this company has permanently alienated me.

Banks That Rip You Off and Smile About It...
By -

WINDSOR, CALIFORNIA -- Wells Fargo Bank almost helped me lose my business. I have banked with them for more than (3) years. What I liked about them was their online banking website. This is one of their ploys to get you in the door. "BEWARE". They have a well-created banking structure that is based on manipulating your banking activities to the highest form of banking profit towards their benefit. What happens is this; If you write a check to another bank or use your ATM, you will more than likely see the transaction the next day in their system. On the other hand, If you deposit a big check, say for $1500.00, they will hold your money for 5-10 days even if it's from the bank next door.

So while you need your money for bills or payroll, they hold it and use it for a little while. I can go on and on with incidents on how they jerked me around, but all I will say is take a good inside look at their banking system, cause it is formed to charge you big for every small mistake you make. Such as, say you use your ATM out of town at Starbucks and pay @1.50 for a drink, then say you purchase a sandwich at Subways and lastly you get gas the next day $60.00. Unfortunately, you failed to realize your account had an available balance of $59.00. Let's say the Starbucks and sandwich transactions reach your bank first then the gas comes in later. This is the trick!

Wells Fargo will not agree, but I know for a fact, they will submit the higher transaction first to force your account into the negative, then charge you $35.00 for each additional transaction processed after that. That's right!!! You will pay $35.00 for a $1.50 purchase. "Sorry that's the rules you idiot", don't make any more mistakes like that.

After I had a few bad transactions due to their online banking flaws, they put all my deposits on hold and made me wait for my money. I am going on a mission to tell all about my experience with them, I seriously, hate them for what hardships they caused me and my family. That's right I did say "HATE"! Like I said one certain incident caused me to spiral into a tail spin and I won't forget it.

Wells Fargo Perpetrator in Bank Failings Sets Post Bail-Out Approval Neg Example

PRESCOTT VALLEY, ARIZONA -- Recently I went to deposit a COM CHECK (used by truckers nationwide) to a small business account on which I am a party. The teller at the Prescott Valley, AZ bank questioned my identity asking for even an additional piece of identity (they know who I am) using that stall tactic had another teller look at me and at the COM CHECK. One teller told me she had to talk to the manager to see if they could cash a COM CHECK. She was gone with the check quite awhile, came back and told me they wouldn't cash it, but would deposit it. I asked her why and she told me that it is up to the discretion of the individual manager.

In light of the recent credit freezes taking place from the recent economic mess and Wells Fargo wanting to extract fees in lieu of deposits amounts they are not receiving with the silent bank customer panic withdrawals, this was criminal the way I was treated. I heard from another person yesterday, that they 'made' her deposit her SS GOVERNMENT check and would not cash it even though she had an account with them, much as I do. Beware of Wells Fargo showing distress signs and tanking. They are not infallible and subject to the same as any other bank. Sheer nationwide strength will not hold all their customers.

When the other signer on my same account is in the area - we are going to that bank and closing the account. The economy in Prescott is 'dead' and Wells Fargo Bank is making money the next new way - charging more fees, higher fees. It is a PRIVILEGE for any bank to USE a customer's funds to make money, especially when the Fed is now going to bail them out or bail them up triple, quadruple servings. Wells Fargo desiring to acquire smaller banks right now is frightening from the standpoint of them gaining more tyranny over a greater part of the public banking consumers.

Take your money out of your banks right now, any bank, for it is not safe, you will lose as earnings are a fail comparison for you compared to the banks and the amount a bank will charge you to keep, maintain any account. The new game of Wells Fargo leading in blame. NO Wells Fargo tyrants and power-brokers; use your local friendly credit union. Buy up some foreign currency and a bit of short term gold so YOU have something to trade for food and commodities you will need when this bailout finally bottoms YOU out. Think. Wells Fargo was one of the perpetrators of this mess. Off now to mass spread postings on Wells Fargo, 88wpm.

Unprofessional Teller and Useless Manager
By -

ALHAMBRA, CALIFORNIA -- I have experienced a very unpleasant visit to the Wells Fargo Valley Alhambra California branch, the one in a shopping center next to a Big 5 Store. Of all my years with other Wells Fargo branch and my family having multiple accounts at Wells Fargo, I just found out today that even if you have an account at the bank that you can only deposit money into the bank but cannot withdraw our cash check (even with valid ID) at this branch. The staff in this branch as compared to other is so rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful.

They all including the non-responsive and Branch Manager ** who I have left 4 message in the day to contact him for an answer regarding my unpleasant experience at the bank and all I got is person telling me that he is busy. To leave my number (which I have). I believe this manager just would not care much of the Wells Fargo Bank image and reputation. Rather staging in the bank and leading a group unprofessional and rude staff (whom I would felt takes after him after my experience today). Let the record know that the rude and helpless teller name is (Diana) working as teller this 2/23/08 morning at this branch.

As I have always see and believe the Wells Fargo Bank's image to be a friendly and heartwarming bank. But with this experience today, unfortunately, as much as I don't want to drag the rest of the other branch to this, I will be bringing everyone of my family to close out all account with Wells Fargo. With the humiliation I rec'd from Teller Diana and the non-responsible and not wanting to take the responsibility on hand Manager Kevin **. If this branch continues, I would assume in the very near future that the bank will close out and go into bankrupt.

Again, I reiterate that I don't want to apply this to the rest of the other branch as I have been and is still continuing getting a great and smiling staff at the other Alhambra branch at Chapel and Commonwealth. I would suggest that Wells Fargo's upper management would be able to provide warning to the unprofessional staff mentioned above or let them go so that business goes on.

Wells Fargo Unfairly Adds Insurance To Loans
By -

WACO, TEXAS -- I have been a customer of Wells Fargo Bank in Waco, Texas for 4 and 1/2 years. I began doing business with them when I financed my house with them in 2002, August. In August of 2006, I used Wells Fargo Auto Finance to finance a collateral loan on my 2006 Mazda. I have always had full coverage insurance on my car. When my insurance renewed in July 2007, I received a letter from Wells Fargo stating that they had not received a copy of my renewal. I insisted that I did indeed have the insurance, however, they wanted me to fax them proof. I felt that this problem would cease- WRONG!!

After a few letters from Wells Fargo I went to my local branch on Bosque Blvd. here in Waco. They called auto finance and I was told that I would need to fax my declarations page to them- the branch could not help me. So I went to my insurance agent and they faxed my insurance info to Wells Fargo. This was around mid-November or early December of 2007. On December 10, 2007 they and Balboa Insurance, their insurance provider sent me a letter stating that the coverage they had was being cancelled and they would refund me part of the premium. I HAD FULL COVERAGE TO BEGIN WITH IN THE AMOUNT NECESSARY!!!

Sunday, January 6, 2008 Wells Fargo calls me at home concerning my late payment. They said what I owed, which I disputed. I disputed the amount that I owed because it included insurance. On Monday, January 7,2008 I went to my local branch again. At the branch they were helpful. They faxed my info yet AGAIN!! Today, I received another call. Again I disputed the amount owed. I was told to call Balboa Insurance, which I did. Balboa acknowledged that they had received my info and that it was correct. However, they need me to get my insurance agent to on the phone with them to cancel. I wonder what their next excuse will be?

Wells Fargo has tried this before with my house insurance. They also like to call starting at around 8am til 9pm to remind me that my payment was due on the 5th and that this is the 6th. I encourage you to stay away from Wells Fargo Bank. When I am able I will take my business elsewhere!! I think that they are trying to fleece their customers by adding unnecessary insurance.

Wells Fargo's service encourages foreclosures

PLANO, TEXAS -- Like many folks, I've had a bad year with job/income issues, but I got things back on track this Fall. By August, I was 2 months behind on my Wells Fargo mortgage and I called WF Customer Service to request a loan modification to assist in my recovery. The WF representative gave me directions to request this and I did so immediately. The WF representative also told me that based on my equity, income and financial situation, that I was an excellent candidate for this and the approval process should take 30-45 days. On Sept 1, WF mailed me a letter requesting additional income verification docs, and I responded immediately.

I called WF weekly to check on the status and they kept telling me that they are overwhelmed with requests and don't call us, they'll call me. In early Oct, I insisted on an update and they admitted that my request had been misplaced and I needed to resubmit my income verification docs, because my initial docs where over 30 days old. I did so immediately and the representative told me the process should now take 30-45 days.

A few days later I received notice that WF has initiated foreclosure proceedings with a sale date of Nov 6. I called WF immediately and they said that the 'Negotiator' is aware of the sales date and they "HOPE" the 'Negotiator' will LOOK at my loan modification request before the sale date. Which means, on Nov 5 Wells Fargo may, or may not, inform me that I will be homeless on Nov 6.

The frustrating part about this process is I have been prompt with this application process and all I am trying to do is to get back on my feet without a long-term devastating impact to my family. Every day I see the CountryWide CEO stating "we will work with all homeowners if they are able and willing" and then I see Wells Fargo doing the opposite by encouraging foreclosures. It just makes me sick!

Delay Posting on-Line Payment to Charge Fees
By -

NEWARK, CALIFORNIA -- We are in Wells Fargo Mortgage Hell! About 4 years ago we re-financed our home with Chevy Chase, and it was almost immediately bought by Wells Fargo. That's when the trouble started. The only good news is that it's a 5.25% mortgage so it's a good deal. After the 1st year, the payment coupon book was depleted, and they never sent us one again. So we had to go into the bank every time to make our payment. This got to be cumbersome, and I set up all of our banking on BofA online. Terrific you'd think right?

Our mortgage payment with Wells Fargo is due by the 16th of every month. So, I set it up for automatic payment on the 15th starting Jan '07. In mid July we heard from Wells Fargo for the 1st time to say that we owed them over $600 in late fees from being late each month since January. At first I thought it must be a BofA error - but no! They showed that they had delivered the payment on time or early every month. But Wells Fargo didn't credit our account for 2-6 days after receiving payment, and then charged us $103 every time.

We printed out the banking online statements and brought them to the bank. No one there could help us. Basically they said that we had to call the mortgage department, which we did. They wouldn't remove the fees and basically said "too bad". For the August payment, my husband went into the bank on 8/14 to make the payment PLUS all the fees to avoid more late fees pending resolution of this. We just got a statement from them yesterday. It showed a late fee imposed for August and all the late fees still owed. We're taking them to court.
