Whirlpool Cabrio Type 580 HE Top Load Washer

I purchased a topload Whirlpool Cabrio Type 580 washer from Lowes. Immediately the plastic hinges cracked where the screws were inserted to hold the lid on. Eventually the entire lid came off. It took 2 months to get a lid replacement. The new lid arrived cracked. Now Whirlpool Service Advantage is saying they're not replacing the lid because the warranty only covers electrical and motors.

If you build a glass top with a plastic frame and then GLUE it together it will crack and eventually pop apart. Help me get this lid recalled. Whirlpool needs to stand behind their product since I paid almost $1,000 for the washer. Lowes is trying to help and we will see. Do not purchase Whirlpool Topload HE washers. They are lemons.

Cabrio Top Loader Washer Has Major Rust

USA, FLORIDA -- My Cabrio top loading washer is rusting severely and it is only 5 years old. I started noticing the rust in its third year. I always leave my washer lid up, and the air conditioning vent happens to blow directly on the machine, so I think my conditions are just about optimal. However there are big chunks of paint and rust coming from the top of the drum.

I got a mirror to look up there and the water tube looks so short, so maybe it has a design flaw. Every couple of weeks, I get a brush, paper towels and scrape out the rust. Then I get my vacuum hose and suck up all the paint and rust that I have scraped off. I've been washing clothes for over 40 years, so don't think I am abusing my washer. I will not purchase another Whirlpool. I miss the way washers were so dependable back in the day. I hope Whirlpool will improve their products for their sake and the consumers and those people who work for Whirlpool. We all deserve better than this.

WP Cabrio TL Auto Washer Cabinet Rust Through Inside and Out

BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA -- Have owned this washer for exactly 3 years (purchased 6/10). Noticed rust eating through cabinet both inside and out. Neither Sears (where purchased) or Whirlpool will take any responsibility for the issue. It's considered cosmetic. However, I have chunks of rust falling onto my LR floor and it won't take long before there's a hole in the side of the cabinet.

Unacceptable quality and I will need to replace machine. I also purchased an extended warranty that doesn't expire until 2015. Extremely disappointed in lack of quality and assistance from either company mentioned above. Will research over and over and will have to purchase a new washer. I can tell you, it won't be a WP and it won't be purchased from Sears! Will also make a complaint to Consumer Reports, any and all consumer agencies I can and social media!

Cabrio Washer And Dryer Biggest Pieces Of Junk Very Disappointed

I also had to replace the water pump after 1 year old, now the washer won't spin, replaced some parts and still no spin broke and about $175 into this piece. I would never buy Whirlpool again. Also have the dryer and had to fix it already twice and these machines were not cheap. I think I paid about $850 for each one.

I should have bought the cheapest I probably wouldn't have any trouble and the washer makes holes in your clothes and thin material t-shirts. The machine after a few washes you will see tiny holes in them. I have a friend with the same machine same holes in the clothes. Ruined many clothes. I do not recommend this brand washer and dryer and the company just says sorry. The BIGGEST PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!

Whirlpool Is Ripping Off the American Consumer

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- WTW64005W3 - The washing machine is a total piece of **! It is a known fact that the control board is faulty, there are thousands of complaints about it on the internet. For example Google the F51 error on the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer. The scum bags at Whirlpool refuse to take responsibility, but they will be happy to charge you $400 or more to fix their junk, or they will sell you a one year warranty for $360 to fix their junk.

Yes Whirlpool is happy to sell you a $500 piece of junk and then charge you $400 more to fix their garbage. Basically Whirlpool wants you to pay $900 for a $500 washer that isn't worth $50. They are robbing the American consumer. I have a Sears Kenmore that I bought used 4 years ago for $100, it still works perfectly while this over-priced Whirlpool piece of junk is a paperweight.

TEXAS -- ***DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS*** Whirlpool Cabrio model WTW6400SW3 is a BAD PRODUCT. After only 4 years of and usage of 3-4 loads a week the bearing and the motherboard have both gone out. To repair the bearing you have to buy the outer tub to replace as the bearing and for the motherboard you need to replace it. Cost: $1,400; this is what a new washer and dryer would cost.

Calling Whirlpool was pointless. They told me the warranty was up. This is true, but looking at the internet reveals there is a problem with this. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT OF ANY KIND. AND I PLAN TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES. ***DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS***

Cabrio Dryer a joke

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- Purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer in April of 2010. Of course just past the 1 year old date (5-26-11), I had my first repair because of overheating. Clothes were so hot I couldn't even hold them in my hands. Went through so many repairs and so much money that I just couldn't take any more. On 3-21-12, I got rid of it and purchased a Speed Queen (American made) and so far am absolutely satisfied. No mother boards, etc. Just an old fashioned agitator washing machine with push buttons. I figure I lost $1,607.00. I urge anyone buying a Whirlpool product to save your money!!

Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer Worthless
By -

My new $700.00 Whirlpool Cabrio dryer is a piece of junk!!! Been repaired 4 times in a year, leaving me without a dryer for weeks at a time waiting on repairs and parts. Whirlpool refuses to replace it, Lowes refuses to replace it and I am stuck with a piece of junk. Have to keep an old dryer to use when the new one is down. Repaired the same thing - overheating, blowing fuses, etc 4 times. Inside of dryer is blackened from the heat. Dries everything on high, wrinkling and ruining my clothes!!! When it catches fire I'm going to sue Whirlpool and Lowes for not replacing it!!!!

Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine - Junk
By -

I was one of the unlucky people who paid $950.00 for a Top loading Cabrio Washer when they first came out. My husband said to get a standard machine but I too wanted the wonderful(?) Cabrio and now I am sick about it!!! We had several issues with it the first year (control board, water pump and some other gizmo for the computer stuff). We had trouble with it again making horrible noise and the bearings were then replaced. The sound it made would outdo any jet engine on a plane. Guess what... now it needs $600.00 repair for the bearings again.

This machine is a really big disappoint and I will tell everybody I know. We are in the plumbing business and I talk with a lot of customers daily. Rest assure they will all be told to never buy a Whirlpool Cabrio Washing machine. I feel the company should have to pay all of us back the money we have poured into these machines. It really is a sad state of affairs. Customer service... there is none.

Cabrio lies

553 BENSON ROAD BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- My washer has developed a very loud noise when it went into the spin cycle. I called a local repair company. The repairman wasn't there. 10 minutes until he said he sees this same problem 5-6 times a month on this particular model wtw6400sw2.

The bearing on the inside of the tub has gone out. He suggested we call 1-800-253-1301 and tell them the washer is only 3 years old and has this problem. They should tell us there is a recall on this product and they will send out a repairman to fix it or replace it. We did this and was told "No, there is no problem with this appliance" and they couldn't help us. So if we want to pay $400+, we can get the machine fixed. This is our last Whirlpool appliance of any kind.
