Interesting compliment. Glad you like the White Castle sliders you get at the store. Maybe someday there will be a White Castle in your neighborhood.
GenuineNerd on 05/14/2010:
White Castle has alwaays been a Midwest and East-based chain...I think the farthest west they came was Kansas City. The chain is corporate owned as well...none of the 200 or so White Castle restaurants are franchised. The frozen White Castle hamburgers at the supermarkets are close to, but not exactly the same as having a "slider" freshly made at one of their restaurants. Still, the frozen burgers are a way for White Castle to be available on a nationwide basis.
Slimjim on 05/14/2010:
IMHO, you're not missing much. I know a lot of people love them, but to me, those burgers are greasy and all bread.

I absolutely love White Castle. Got to have some every time I go to Ohio. I don't know why OKC has never had one ya know considering the chain was founded about 150 miles to the north of us.

I would definitely like a White Castle in my area.
Skye on 05/14/2010:
Hey Tina Bobina, (love your NIC)

You and your boyfriend should take a road trip, just so you can try the burgers!
MRM on 05/14/2010:
So is that what that movie is about, those two guys taking a road trip to White Castle. I didn't know what was the point of that movie but, that movie was hilarious.
Skye on 05/14/2010:
MRM, you have to check out Harold and Kumar go to White Castle! It's hilarious.
MRM on 05/14/2010:
I think that was the movie. The movie was hilarious indeed.
Starlord on 05/14/2010:
The policy of White Castle only operating east of the Mississippio goes back to the very early days of the chain's existence, and is the result of a court case. A chain calling itself White Towers started in Kansas City, IIRC, and sued White Castle over the use of the design of the buildings. White Castle proved they hired the architect to design the building, based on the Chicago water tower. The architect sold a duplicate set of plans to the White Tower people. The upshot of the deal was a settlement that included White Tower paying White Castle so much a year for use of the building design, and that White Castle would operate East and WHite Tower west of the river. White Castle is, to this day, a closely held corporation, and all shares are held by members of the Ingram family, descendants of 'Uncle Billy' Ingram, one of the co-founders. As one of their advertising slogan says, "The flavor some people can't live without."
MRM on 05/14/2010:
Interesting factoid, Starlord!
Nohandle on 05/14/2010:
I sometimes think it's the idea of a chain we don't have in our area or something we recall enjoying as a child. I was never in a White Castle but am familiar with Krystal. They appear to be very similar. I copied a portion from the Krystal website:

Davenport visited White Castle restaurants taking notes of successful features before setting forth on his own venture. Davenport and Sherrill set up the first Krystal at the corner of Seventh and Cherry streets in Chattanooga. While the building still stands, the original Krystal restaurant is no longer in operation. The oldest Krystal still in operation is located on Cherokee Boulevard in Chattanooga's Northshore District.

My opinion is it's great for a change but reminds me of those old Clara commercials "Where's the Beef?" It's the size of the soft thick bun but very thin. I would prefer less bread and more beef, but that's just me.

In addition, after reading Starlord's comment, he worked at a White Castle so is aware of the history behind that chain.

Why would you want a White Castle to open when you have In-N-Out there? We have In-N-Out here in AZ, but I swear it tastes better in Cali. I think it's because the produce is better there
Anonymous on 05/14/2010:
Lilyaya + 10. I really like In-N-Out.

Anonymous on 07/27/2010:
The frozen ones suck.
momsey on 07/27/2010:
You don't want a White Castle in your neighborhood. Somehow, wherever they happen to be is a disgusting area.
Tall Shopper on 10/18/2010:
The sliders fresh from the actual restaurant are so much better than the frozen ones from the grocery store! The restaurants are around the Chicago area, and people will drive for many miles to stock up on sliders. Like you, I wish they'd expand White Castle. I'd buy stock in the company if they would use the money to expand near me.

Disappointed in Bush!
Posted by on
I have been disappointed in George W. Bush as President. His services to the country has been going downhill. He is so obsessed with Iraq that he has neglected the American people and our needs. For example, he has neglected the needs of the New Orleans people who are victims of Hurricane Katrina. Those poor people are suffering from various diseases, starvation, lack of water, and exposure to cold filthy water while Mr. Bush is sitting there, doing nothing. He has refuses the offers of Britain, Cuba, Canada, and Australia to help us and he had delayed sending troops into New Orleans to help the people, I believe Bush is a racist who hates the poor New Orleans people because most of them are black. He loves only rich white people. Bush is a slimy piece of garbage who must be impeached!

mjholly, why don't you head over to New Orleans and try to help out. If you come back alive after being mobbed by the chaos there, then tell us your story. I don't know if you recall that even rescue crews were being shot at by the crazy anarchists.

Give George a break.. He's doing okay for a guy with narcissitic personality disorder and a complete lack of interest in history, economics, government, science and anything else that's not George. On the other hand I've heard he does a really mean Texas two step.
CaseyTucker on 09/05/2005:
If Bill Clinton (America's first colored President) was still in office, he would be more obsessed with getting b.j.'s in the oval office, than the situation occurring in the south.
DebtorBasher on 09/05/2005:
Geezzz...do you even know the meaning of the word "racist"? Look it up in the dictionary. It seems that you think the word "racist" means "white people". I think you should go down there to New Orleans and help your own people, since no one else is. Instead of sitting on your arse accusing everyone for not helping...get the lead out and go do it yourself.
NeveragainAmazon on 09/05/2005:
Instead of just sitting there and reading about the devastation....Why not give George a call and ask him what is taking him so long?
Mad Eye Moody on 09/06/2005:
If this post were from any one else, I might bother posting a response worthy of the topic, but since its Mjholly, I'll pass.
Shakra on 09/06/2005:
I think that you have misinterpretted this site, mjholly. This is site that is for consumer reviews and opinions. Take your comments to a political site.

MJ/Mike will complain about anything, it is probably a couple (or one with an alias) of geeks that really have nothing better to do with their time. Consider their posts as amusement.

From Burger King to Bad service to Bush41. Mj why don't you see if 'Ma' will take you to Hooters. I can't wait to read that review.
ducati900ss on 12/02/2006:
You are mad that Bush didn't do more for New Orleans but New Orleans re-elected the same cable guy mayor that prevented the busses from running? New Orleans has come out to look like the biggest idiots in America. They look like a pot full of lazy, whining and complaining hillbillies. When will someone think back to the day the towers went down and remember the fear we all had. I am gratefull that we went this long without a terrorist attack on American soil. Can you imagine if you elected Kerry? Kerry who said all us who served in the military are lazy and uneducated? I think we would be hearing a lot of excuses for failure had we done that.
