Winn Dixie lost my pictures
By -

In July 2003 after getting back from my North Carolina trip, I took my disposable camera to Winn Dixie #18 in Neptune Beach, Florida so I could get my pictures developed. It was a 24 exposure camera. I only took 17 pictures so I turned the camera in with it not being used up completely and they said that was fine and that they would probably just take pictures of the store or something with the remaining film. Somewhere along the line there was a big confusion or misunderstanding. Because when I went to pick up my pictures, there were some pictures missing.

The photo lab manager didn't seem to know why. The employee that I originally turned them in to obviously didn't know what she was doing. All we know for sure is that somebody made a big mistake when developing my pictures. The photo lab manager then told me that all the pictures I took have been developed and that there shouldn't be any missing pictures. However, there are some pictures that I know I took because I remember taking them and I have no idea what happened to those pictures.

I am missing at least 4 pictures. There was not anything that the photo lab manager could do for me because she did not have the missing pictures. The main problem is that when I turned the camera in, it was not completely used up. However, they told me that would not be a problem but apparently it is. I never got my missing pictures and we still never figured out why I was missing pictures but it is still disappointing and I will not take my pictures to get developed at Winn Dixie again. Luckily, these pictures weren't anything major but what if these were wedding pictures or something else major that couldn't be replaced?

The pictures I took were mostly just pictures of family doing activities and stuff like that but I still want my pictures. It was also disappointing to my family seeing that they couldn't look at the pictures of all of us. In the future, Winn Dixie needs to hire more responsible employees that know what they are doing. To make it up to me, the photo lab manager gave me $2.00 which was definitely better than nothing. I still will get my film developed somewhere else from now on!

Publix vs Winn-Dixie
By -

PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA -- As a teenager, I worked for Publix Supermarkets in Florida. One day a new Winn-Dixie opened up down the street and I asked my manager if our business was going to decrease because of the competition. He replied "it's not competition, it's a Winn-Dixie". He went on to tell me that he didn't think of this store as competition because after a year of being open, the service would be poor, the store would be dirty, and the perishable food would not be fresh. Turns out he was right. And not just at that store, but all your stores.

The sad part, I have a Winn-Dixie near my house and wish I could shop there instead of having to travel an extra couple miles to a Publix - but I can't get past the dirty store, poor service, and lousy attitude. Someone wrote "go ** yourself" in marker in the restroom and it has been there in front of the urinal for as long as I can remember. Don't you guys see this. Wouldn't you want to erase it, cover it up with paint, or do whatever you need to to get rid of it.

No pride, no service, no wonder there's no customers. If you don't start making some meaningful changes, low prices, rewards cards, and all the marketing and advertising in the world isn't going to save you from going out of business.

KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA -- Well I am a really concerned for my fiance. Has been an employee for Winn Dixie for about 9 1/2 years and has gone through so much with this store she works at that it is affecting our personal life. There are some recent managers there who have been a little "rough" with the way they act and talk to their employees. Being in management myself I understand how to be a leader to encourage and motivate my employees. But to make them cry day in and day out is cruel. Why can't the employees be able to talk to their managers....??? I would not recommend anyone to work there shop there anythin....just absolutely crazy what happens behind closed doors......

Spoiled Chicken
By -

SAINT CLOUD, FLORIDA -- Since August 2008 and March 2010 I have had to return spoiled chicken to Winn Dixie for replacement 6 times, and on two other separate occasions, I just threw out the chicken without returning it at all. This is totally unacceptable, I've complained to Winn/Dixie's corporate office numerous times about this to no avail and it seems to fall on deaf ears. They don't even offer so much as an apology at corporate level. All the above is referenced Winn/Dixie's Saint Cloud, Florida store.

Additionally I have notified Sanderson Farms regarding my issues and at least they offered an apology for this situation. Its my belief I'm not the only one having this problem with Winn/Dixie and would like to hear from others with this sort of complaint. I have moved on from being a loyal Shopper at Winn/Dixie and have elected to shop elsewhere...

Complaint

On June 23rd I went into the Winn Dixie on Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach to pick up some items at the deli. I personally do not like pre-packaged items because I feel that they dry out. I asked the lady behind the counter if I could have some potato salad. She told me that there were some below already packaged. When I informed her that I did not care for them, she refused to give me any fresh potato salad. I left and talked to Deli Manager whom has also tried to sell me pre-packaged items before, I have always left without buying pre-packaged.

After leaving the Deli I asked to speak to the manager of the store and got the next best thing Asst Manager (I think). I told her my problem and she asked me if I got everything I was shopping for and I told her NO. She said she would talk to the Deli people and walked off. I left store. Publix is right across the road. This was my last adventure at Winn Dixie. I work for a large resort on the beach. I will never say anything bad about Winn Dixie. I will never recommend it to our guest.

Winn Dixie Unfair to Loyal Customer!
By -

Several weeks ago while shopping at Winn Dixie with some out of state friends we got a container of popcorn chicken from the deli and ate it while shopping. We put the empty cup on the counter at checkout but somehow it got knocked off on to the floor. Because we were purchasing several items the empty chicken container went unnoticed. The security guard however did notice and instead of bringing it to our attention at this time, he waited until we were about to exit the store and then caused a scene by accusing me of shoplifting. I left the store to avoid embarrassment.

After leaving I called the store and requested to talk to the manager but she only wanted to refer me to this stupid security guard. The next day the local police came to my home and had me sign a form stating that if I ever return to this store I would face prosecution for trespassing.

I am a local business owner with lots of family, friends and employees who live in this area. My wife and I spend at least $9600.00 a year in this store. I was not shoplifting, the people who know me and work with me know that I was not shoplifting, therefore none of my friends, family or employees will shop at this store or any other winn dixie until this is resolved. I was treated very unfairly. Here's what I'd like Winn-Dixie Stores to do: I would like an apology from the store manager and the security officer, and I would like the right to shop in this store again.

Former Location Manager

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I worked in the now closed down, Atlanta Division for 20 years 3 months and 5 days. 1970-1990. I worked in almost all the departments and ended up as a Store Manager. The upper management in those days were autocratic and often abusive. They took an adversarial view of store employees. We had little say, for example, as to sales per man hour or display set up. It was all dictated from the top down by people who hadn't worked in a store for decades. Most employees and executives were high school graduates only. We had an almost 100% turn over in store management. There were very few of us who had a knowledge of the history of the company.

The pay was low and set on a three tiered system with those hired after a certain date getting a lower top hourly salary than those hired earlier. I fell into the grandfather pay scale and found out to my horror that they were eliminating those associates who made the top pay for younger ones who would max out at less. Many of our stores were understaffed and we always had a surplus of new, newer or newest employees who were untrained or untrainable. They asked more of them or us than was possible to produce without experience and time.

Only a favored few who had family relatives in executive positions got promoted to those higher paying jobs. Many of them got burned out as well. I think the corporate culture has now changed but it was too late for the Atlanta area. Our stores were dirty, always short handed. It was a tough, thankless job. No bonuses ever.

Where Are the Sale Items?

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- "Did you find everything OK?" That's always the question at checkout, so when someone says "no", they are taken aback. That's the problem that arose for me at the Orlando Winn Dixie on Curry Ford Rd. When I asked about their wine sale or where is the organic spaghetti sauce, the answer is the same "I'm sorry we don't carry that item here" but we let you know with the disclaimer "Items not in all stores". Shall I call you beforehand with my list? Hello Winn DIxie management. If you're throwing a sale, at least have an end cap or display for each store. Is that hard for you folks to grasp?

Not Honoring Winn Dixie Fuel Perks For What It Is Worth

Rating: 3/51

AUBURNDALE, FLORIDA -- When I first starting getting my gas at the Circle K (shell oil) gas station I was using Winn Dixie fuel perks awards. I had no problems. But now, as of today the gas station is not fully honoring the full fuel perks. My son in law called Winn Dixie customer service to complain about not honoring the full fuel perks. ** was very sarcastic and refused to help us about the matter. I am very upset about this because this is way I spend my money at Winn Dixie. I spend more than 400.00 a month. If this is not resolved and corrected and give me my full fuel perks I will go shop at Publix and Wal Mart.

I went to the gas station expecting my gas to be 49 cents a gallon with the perks and also the .90 reward. After I got home I checked my receipt and it was 1.509 per gallon and no perk rewards. And on top of it all they now stop pumping at 20 gallons and no more. This is wrong because it is not on the receipt that there is only a 20 gallon limit. I paid 30.18 for 20 gallons of gas in which it was only supposed to be .49 per gallon plus fuel perks. There were no fuel perks involved.

Other people have filed consumer complaints against Winn Dixie over this matter. It may be also linked to an investigation now being conducted by the Federal Trades Commission in Washington DC. Let's put a stop to this now before we lose Winn Dixie because after all, I would rather show at Winn Dixie than any other store but I do not like being scammed by anyone or any company.

Card discounts

PALM BAY, FLORIDA -- I am writing about Winn Dixie on Malabar and Minton in Palm Bay, Florida. This store gives discounts if one has a membership card. The products have two sets of prices with and without membership card. I have noticed on two occasions that the discounted price does not ring up at the register. The first time, I got the store managers attention and was given the excuse that the person who put the meats out had not had a chance to change the price in the system. At that time I was given the discounted membership price.

Just yesterday I went there to buy some stew meat. I used the self check out register along with the stew meat. I also bought some cookies which were .99 cents and buy one get one free. When I rang up, I needed assistance to get the price corrected. The cashier had an attitude, but gave me the discount. I later noticed that the meat had rung up at the 16.00 instead of the 11.00 which was the advertised price with card. They are such rip offs. Beware and check your receipts...
