The Home Depot - Decatur, AL Complaint - Inadequate help and rude associates

Over the course of the last two weeks, I have had to make some improvements in a home I own in Decatur, Al. (I live in Huntsville, Al.) On the first occasion, I had to buy over $600 worth of lumber....Couldn't find anyone to help and when I inquired at Customer Service, was told that they could "see what they could do"...!!! I asked, "what does that mean??" The reply was, "we only have one person working in Lumber.." When I found that person and gave him my lumber order, he said Ok, but you have to load it yourself!!I'm the only one in this dept.
The second occasion (and I will never, never again frequent that store) was in the Paint Dept. Again, only one sales person, who was "chatting" with a customer who had already been helped, about some neighbors, etc.

I stood there for over five minutes as they both looked at me, but said nothing. I finally raised my voice and asked if the salesman could possibly stop chatting and help me! With no remorse/apology, he said "sure"..!UGH

I have shopped at Home Depot MANY times for building supplies. It has always been "self help". Once a guy offered to help, but then I couldn't choose which boards I wanted - important because a lot of HD's lumber is warped/defective.

Sometimes you do have to speak up. The Paint representative should have been more welcoming and inquisitive, but at HD I am not shy at all about speaking up. They are used to being hounded from all sides - if a customer is quiet they can blend into the background.

any i too shop at home depot, i need to stack my own lumber. the ONLY time they will be your personal shopper is for commercial accounts.

once i did get help loading drywall.

I also have shopped at a real lumber yard. There they load with/for you. But HD isn't a real lumber yard.
