Checkfree Complaint - Checkfree -- Pathetic and Unreliable
Checkfree (BillPay) is a service made available by my bank, Athens First, div. of Synovus. After you apply, 48 hours must elapse before the service is actually available, so you've got to plan ahead.
I set up my recurring payments and scheduled a single one-time-only payment. The earliest date the system would accept for the one-time-only payment was five days out, which was longer than I anticipated, but I went with it, and notified the payee when she could expect her check. It is now three days past the date the check should have been received. My account was debited on the due date but the payee didn't receive her check even though the system says the check was mailed in time for the scheduled date of receipt. There is no way to contact anyone by phone so I initiated an email inquiry, for which 3-4 days response time is required. In my mind, this is unacceptable customer service.
Had I mailed the check the old-fashioned way, the recipient would have received it even before the scheduled Checkfree date and I would have saved the FedEx fee for the replacement check and avoided the hassle of trying to void the Checkfree check.
My credit score is excellent and I don't wish to compromise it because of Checkfree, so I'll be deleting the scheduled checks and going back to stamps and envelopes.
