General Electric Complaint - 2 year old Electric range element burned out.
LOUISVILLE,, KENTUCKY -- Was preheating my 2year old GE Electric oven and the heating element burned bright, sparked and shot a flame. My son turned it off. When oven was completely cool I saw the element had cracked in half. This oven cost me $500
and just turned 2 in January. I contacted the company for part replacement and cost to replace the part. I am sure they will reply to me in a day or 2 during regular business hours. I am extremely disappointed that I am having problems with this appliance so soon. What if I would have turned on the preheat then left the room and no one would have saw the oven flame up. Could have caused a fire in my home. Quality seems to be non-existent anymore. I only use my oven once or twice/week.
I located my owners book and to my surprise this appliance only has a 1 year warranty! If the Bake element is the same price as the Broiler element the part is $75.00 plus S&H..Thank god my son can put the part in as I would have labor costs on top of that. Makes me think twice about appliances and what brand I will/will not purchase in the future.
