Netspend Complaint - Uninvited
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- I received a card claiming to replace a temporary card and providing space to transfer payroll and/or government deposits to Metabank. The card was never requested, the temporary card and pin was never received.
When I called, I was instructed to enter the account number. I could not speak to customer service to find out why I got the card until I accepted the terms of service by "pressing 1".
Instead, I hit the web site and found an 'contact us' number. The only way I could talk to a representative is to select the option to report the card stolen.
When she answered, she asked for the account number! I told her, "if I had that I wouldn't be calling, would I?" Then she asked for my SS#. I told her I was calling to see if they are attempting fraud, that I received the card without request or explanation, that the requirement to accept the license provisions before they provide information about themselves is a red flag.
Short story, she was happy to cancel and delete the account.
I advised her it might be a good idea to do the same for the card they sent to my ex-wife of 9 years at the same address. She probably wouldn't be as nice about it.
