St.Mary's Hospital Complaint - Terrible Experience at St. Mary's
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- On Wednesday June 15th. I went to Saginaw St. Mary's ambulatory with stroke symptoms.
I was admitted and in short order was given preliminary tests that took from 3PM to 4 PM and was told I needed to go to the main hospital. Because they were swamped at the main building I waited FIVE hours for ambulance transport and when I arrived I waited another hour to be assigned a room. I finally got into a bed and the staff came at me for the usual battery of blood tests, etc.
At this point in time I had yet to eat and when I got to the food, all there was left was a single slice turkey sandwich with no dressing and a cup of coffee.
From Midnight on I was awakened regularly every hour for blood pressure reading and various other blood tests. needless to say, I got ZERO sleep.
The next morning I had to wait until 10 AM before I could have breakfast, which consisted of tasteless scrambled eggs and ONE turkey sausage.
An hour earlier they delivered the same breakfast to my room but because I hadn't had the 10 AM test, I was forbidden to eat it.
After the 10AM round of more prodding I laid in bed until 2:30 PM when I was given a cat scan, and taken back to my room, served dinner,(a hot beef sandwich) and at 10 PM finally got the CATSCAN test result which showed NO abnormalities. It took about a half hour to (hustle) me out the door after telling me that there was absolutely no evidence that I had had a stroke recurrence but a symptom called ParkinsonISM which which mimics a stroke.
I finally got home at midnight!
For the most part the nurses were indifferent but the Service help was uniformly pleasant. (go figure)!
My family doctor only has privileges at St. Mary's so I am effectively locked into going there.
I got no luck!
