RCN Telecom Services Complaint - Two Years And The Phone Still Won't Work After Rain

Review by kylesnews7 on 2011-06-22
The outside box that connects the pole line to the house connections is improperly installed. For two years whenever it rains the service goes out for at least two days. This spring/summer of 2011 it is out a week. RCN says it is not their problem. Some reason they came two weeks ago to upgrade the system inside with a modem type box that all customers in the area are to have. The phone on the modem worked - - For a week we had ALL the phones in the house working. Then we were down to only the phone on the modem working. Then it rained and NONE of the phones work. They say it is an internal wiring problem. RCN just has no interest in fixing a customer's phone. DON'T SIGN UP WITH THEM!

It does sound like an internal problem. If the wires are in a crawl under the house, one could be getting wet from the rain and shorting. Same if the wires are in the attic. A small amount of water can do the nasty deed. The fact the phone attached to the "modem" worked when others did not tends to support that theory.
