Go Auto Insurance Complaint - GoAuto Insurance Will Go With Your Money

Review by WKeith on 2011-06-22
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA -- I enrolled with Go Auto for car insurance and paid a deposit of $80.00. The very next day I found a less expensive policy with another company. I called Go Auto and was told to fill out a cancellation form, fax it in and I would receive my deposit back minus a one day's premium.

I received a check back for the amount of $12.50. When speaking with the officials I was told that there was a "Short Rate Fee"- $31.79 charged because I cancelled my policy in such a short time (What??), plus a list of five other charged fees.

Go Auto seems to simply make up fees so they can keep your money. How pathetic for such a company! I would never recommend them to anyone!

Obviously you did not read the paperwork you signed. When an insurance company writes a policy for you the down payment is not just for the actual coverage. There are policy fees, motor vehicle record fees, loan origination fees, etc These fees are earned in full by the insurance company which means they are nonrefundable. Just about insurance company you go to works this way unless you pay your premium in full. Then it is pro rated instead of short rate. Bottom line? READ WHAT YOU SIGN!
