Officedepot Complaint - Rebate Con - laptop pavilion dv6-3216us

I pick up the advertise laptop for $449.00 and up to the cashier and she hesistantly input $549.00 and immediately ask her why she has done that and she replied because of the $50.00 rebate she had to add it in, at that moment it did not sound right but the additional helper I brought cause much diversion so I cut it short. Few days later I call the purchase store and spoke to the manager in which at the end I found out this individual was not the manager but regular employee who had become very excellent with the counter attack, and he did condone that type of business but I responded by saying that this rebate had nothing to do with your company so why are you falsifing the practice with in quiet lull he ask me to bring in the pc and if not open he will give me back the refund but that's another story. Overall I just want to say that this is not over for I will step up and visit the DA, at least to have the cashier arrested for thieving if this could be manage I consider it victory for the whole office depot is rotten to the core. Someone above the suits is condoning this practice because their are to many complaints similar to mine.

Raising the price from $449 to $549 because of a $50 rebate does not make sense for several reasons.

Whether or not the helper was causing a "diversion" (lighting fire in corner of store?), I would have questioned increasing the price $100.

Sometimes stores advertise a price that includes the rebate. It usually states something like "$449 after $50 mfg rebate" in tiny letters. In that case, she should have rung you for $499 and you are free to pursue the rebate on your own if you choose to do so. Do you think maybe she can't add well? Diversion or not, I would have stood my ground on it in the store. Go back to the store with the receipt and the advertisement and insist on speaking to the store manager. I wish you luck with it.
