Nationwide Moving Services Complaint - Took our deposit and cancelled our move

Review by todd.schmechel6 on 2011-06-23
On March 14th, 2011, we contracted Nationwide Moving Services to move our stuff from Wisconsin to Texas. My wife made the call. She admits she didn't check them out before we signed up to have them move us. Our move was scheduled to be picked up on May 30th. On May 27th, my wife got a call saying they were cancelling our move. They didn't have a truck to pick us up. She asked for our $896 deposit back. They agreed to refund us our money and said it would up to 7 business days. To date, June 23rd, we have not gotten our money. Excuse after excuse, but no money. The owner, Emily responded to my BBB complaint admitting we were owed a refund, but still no money.

This company is not accredited by the BBB and has an "F" rating. I filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General's Office and it is being investigated. I've told her we are prepared to go to small claims court, no response. If I don't have my money by EOD tomorrow, I'm calling the Kaufman Sheriff's dept and filing theft/fraud charges. I'm also going to take Nationwide and Emily to small claims court and ask for as much money as the judge will give me.

I like your proactive approach. Sounds like you're covering all the bases and exploring all the avenues of justice. Would be very interested to know how this finally is resolved.
