Rubbish Works Seattle Bellevue Complaint - Don't Use Any Of Their Discount Coupons

Review by dan gordon on 2011-06-25
This is a widely advertised trash removal service. I got an online promo for 50 CF of trash removal for $49. Normally $117 so I figured why not? I called and they came quickly. No problem with the service. When they looked at what I had to dispose of they said it would be more than the minimum load. The next level of service was $225 and I was willing to pay the difference. Since the 'coupon' was worth the minimum logic was that I'd pay the difference of about $100 right? Wrong, they were willing to credit me for what I paid for the coupon and I'd still be paying $225. So whats the point of the coupon or the promotion?

I'm still paying full price. I have no complaints about the service but their advertising is clearly deceptive and misleading.

It sounds like you bought a coupon for $49 that entitled you to 50 cubic feet of trash removal.

When they inspected your "load", they told you it exceeded that amount, and your bill would be $225. You say you were willing to pay the difference. The difference is 225-49 = $176, by my logic. How many cu ft did you have?

It sounds like your logic is it should be the difference between 225 and 117, or $108 which I don't understand.

You bought a coupon for one service, and then hoped to apply it to a different service AND figure the difference in price based on the difference in the prices of those two services. By my logic this is not deceptive or misleading - they didn't advertise that deal.

Your title says "don't use any of their discount coupons." If a person has less than 50 cu ft, then the discount coupon you bought would be perefectly valid.

50 cu ft is just under 2 yards. To my mind, getting rid if 50 cu ft for $49 is a fair deal for most materials. Not a great deal, but a fair one.

Another option is a city waste management disposal dumpster, they deliver and pickup for a reasonable fee. I recently had occasion to use the service in the Seattle city limits and was pleased with the service and not dismayed in the least by the cost.
