Walmart tire and oil services policies Complaint - Consistency of service
I just visited three different Walmart stores in the same city and got three different responses to what I was asking to be done.
The first store I wanted to replace two of my tires on my vehicle, and they said no problem, they came back out about 45 minutes later and said the tires wouldn't fit, I looked at them and said that was because they were 13 inch and my vehicle has 16 inch tires. They start looking for the size my vehicle had on it and couldn't find any so I said what about these and they said we can't put a smaller size on than what you already have, so I said ok give me these two tires you have and I'll get them put on elsewhere. I went to the other Walmart and asked if they had the size tires in stock that I had on my vehicle, they said yes so I said can I exchange the two I bought earlier at the other Walmart for the two I needed they said yes so I swapped them for the size I had on my vehicle, then when I asked them to put them on they said they couldn't because my vehicle door said it needed 75R tires and the ones I bought were 65R tires, so I just said fine and just left. I went to the third Walmart and they told me I needed to put a tire four width sizes and two height sizees bigger than I wanted on there(which by the way was the biggest tire size recommended for my vehicle).
My complaint is none of these three Walmarts have one set policy. If Walmart has a standard SOP for their chain of stores then it needs to be practiced throughout ALL of their stores. What ever happened to the old saying "The customer is always right". I have been a mechanic for 44 years and if a customer wants a pair of tires on I just tell them as long as they are put on as a pair in the front or back. If you are so worried about law suits have the customer sign a waiver and make sure they understand that you cannot be sued and are not responsible for any damages that may be incured from different size tires on the vehicle. Some of us out there are SMART enough to know what we are doing or talking about and you should be at least be giving US the benefit of dought when we tell those people at Walmart what we want.
