MTA Bus Complaint - Wayward Bus

Review by mhe3119 on 2011-07-01
On June 30, 2011 I was driving in the far left lane of traffic approaching the Midtown Tunnel...MTA bus No. 3198, reg. L94692 was in the lane on my right about 40% of the bus length ahead of me...The bus veered left into my lane forcing my vehicle into the barrier on my left causing damage to the left side of my vehicle...Upon exiting the tunnel on the Manhattan side the subject bus proceeded across a few lanes of traffic to its right from the far left lane so as to be able to proceed cross town or uptown and on doing so endangered all of the vehicles in its path...I want to be compensated for my damage....I can be reached at 646-258-9814....Thank You.

I think a word to the transit authority ought to be your first move. I imagine they'll want some proof, so I wonder if there's any traffic cams in that area?

Sounds like you were in the drivers blind spot (not saying it is the op's fault). Did you file a police report? Sounds like the bus never even saw you.

I'm inclined to agree with redmx3racer - I'll bet this driver never saw you, though it seems a bus should have some device to assist in seeing the blind spot.

You're going to need proof of what happened, and I'm not sure where that will come from. Good luck.

i am very happy you were not injured, and it was just some vehicle damage. there are many times when this happens that the car is not always so lucky.

did you file a police report as well as report this the bus depot?

great review.

Although it wasn't a bus I did get side swiped the same way by a big panel truck. I tried to get his attention and lay on the horn to get him to pull over, but he just looked at me in his mirror like I was crazy, so I just followed him to where he was going and called the police. Things got taken care of a lot faster and easier. Unfortunately for the driver, he ended up losing his job on his second day. Mostly because he didn't report it to the employer.
